Jordan_McBeast
Can any Windows Wiz kids here help with a small problem? Every once in a while, after I boot up my computer, a white, blank filled rectangle appears in the top left hand side of my screen. (IS there a way to post pics in from my documents as evidence?) This rectangle disappears if I hover over "Show Desktop" in the bottom right hand corner of windows, but stays on. Its frustrating, it blocks out some text of my desktop icons. Restarting usually resolves the problem, but it randomly comes back.... If anyone needs additional info, or knows how I can post a pic from my local area, please let me know. Anyone ? Help pl0x? :(
Angius
Some dialogue box probably, press ctrl+shift+esc and take a look at active applications. Maybe there's something that shouldn't be there?Look especially after applications without icon.
Volrishan
normally would need alot more info like windows version and brand of pc would be helpful. if you have a dell you might be experiencing this from the Dell Backup & Recovery Manager (DBRM process in Task Manager). 1. Disable the DBRM Toaster from Startup a. Click Start and type msconfig. b. Press Enter. c. Click on the Startup tab. d. Look for DBRM and/or DBRM Toaster and uncheck it/both. e. Click OK. f. Restart the computer. g. After restarting a screen will display reminding you to backup. h. Click "Do not show me this again." i. Press Alt+Tab and you will no longer see the white box. j. Restart again. 2. If removal from Startup does not remedy the problem Occasionally the Dell service will re-enable itself in the Startup Configuration and you will start seeing the white box again. If this happens, just completely uninstall the program.
Jordan_McBeast
There are plenty of things I don't recognise, but since they all have collapsed, unidentifiable names, I don't really wanna delete random processes.

Volrishan
If your computer has a motherboard from ASUS the problem can also accur. 1.) right click on the status bar on the bottom of the screen then click on start task manager. 2.) highlight AiNap.exe if it exists then click end process. (that belongs to ASUS AI Suite.) 3.) if this works either uninstill the Assus Ai Suite or stopping it from loading up in the msconfig. I am still checking into other possible answers so let me know if this works.

Volrishan
look in msconfig for anthing regarding ASUS in the manufacturing heading under startup tab and disable them to see if it is asus related.

Volrishan
if that does not work, then the only other thing i can suggest is checking to see if your pc is infected. you can run the free version of malewarebytes to detect and remove any spyware it finds. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ alternatively in the msconfig under the startup tab you can also disable everything one by one and rebooting the pc each time until you find what is causing it and uninstall the program assosicated with it. BoogieMan82
Run EEST online scanner - http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ (Use the "one time" free online scan, it should find and cleanup any malware/viruses) After that is done type the following command from an elevated (administrator) command prompt (and hit enter): sfc /scannow (This will check your integrity of your Windows Files) Then let me know how it's going. Also can your right click on the box and hit "properties?" Also have you installed or uninstalled any ATI related drivers?
DeadlyNerd
DL CCleaner and disable all startup apps. If it's still happening then w win7 is drunk. It would be good to know when this started happening.

Angius
Make a screenshot of your process list with this box. Then restart system and make it disappear. Make screenshot again. Compae screenshots. That way, we will know the name of process causing this problem. EDIT: I found possible solutions on Polish forums:1. This error can be caused by Catalyst Control Center (ATI card tool). Next version of drivers/tool should fix the problem. 2. It can be caused by one of the following programs: Yontoo 1.10.02 YouTube Downloader Toolbar v4.9 Akamai NetSession Interface Anti-phishing Domain Advisor blekko search bar DealBulldog Toolbar Hyperionics DB Toolbar V9 HomeTool Akamai NetSession Interface Unistall them, then download AdwCleaner, this should wipe aut any malware from your disk. I don't have any of those programs, but I'll try updating ATI control center. The problem is, it comes and gos, so it will be difficult diagnosing the cause.
