  1. Didn't the Daimyo at one point fear the Ashigaru rising up against Japan's nobility? I recall the higher classes banned commoners from using weapons from Guns to Swords in times of peace.

A Daimyo was a local lord, generally the head of a Clan. You are thinking of the Shogun, who held all the de facto power, even though the emperor was technically the head of state. They (The Tokugawa Shogunate) limited Teppo was seen more as agricultural equipment during the Edo period, and were allowed to be kept even after the Sword Hunts (affected Peasants) of the 1580's. It wasn't until 1657 that Teppo regulation was enacted, and hunters and farmers were still allowed to keep guns, though farmers were only allowed blanks iirc. Outright Gun bans did not occur until after the Meiji period, which was AFTER the Bakumatsu period (in which pro-shogunate forces were destroyed.)

  2. That is true. Countries like Spain and Portugal had formations that dominated the battlefield while countries like England where still using archers(Which where useless against plated Tercios). A lot of that had to do with money though, that and the northern European countries where in a downward spiral especially after the hundred years war.. So I guess it really comes down to which country we're talking about. Japan only had an estimated 3 million people total back then. Europe was way far diverse.

Japan did have good Firearm formations when muskets rolled out.

Japan's population was more heavily militarized though than most european countires at the time, with Ashigaru evolving from what were essentially levies to a professional military force. You also had more guns per shooter, Oda Nobunaga used three per shooter, with around three hundred thousand Teppos manufactured in japan within TEN years of its introduction.

By the Time Japan invaded korea, they used on average a 4-1 ratio of bows (Daikyu Yumi outranged Teppos, and were useful for long range harassment, faster fire rate as well) to Teppo, in addition to the Pike (Yari) formations.

  3. Swords in all lands of warfare have always been sidearms. Spears where always preferred in Japan.

And when Plate Armour rolled out Maces and Morning Stars took over in Europe.

One thing I do hate is how over hyped people make the Samurai. Not the Katana. I've seen friends(Who are hardcore Anime fans, not joking here) talk about how invincible Japanese armies where back in the Renaissance.

Truth of the matter is, even compared to Medieval Europe, Japanese Warfare was more primitive than the west. Western armies battled dozens of cultures and fought wars with many different peoples of Religion and Society. That's what drove the west to progress further into Modernization.

This is what drove the innovation of Plate Armour, it made England's finest Longbowmen nigh useless unless they where in killing distance of the Knight. The cycle continued and Firearms made armour useless.

I've worn(Partially) European Plate and Yoroi before, You can do jumping jacks and somersaults in Plate. It's so comfortable, light and loose. The Samurai armour is actually more constricting. And it would be even more heavier in the rain. These myths that Samurai where some lightning fast warriors is highly misconstrued. I don't doubt they had many good warriors, but at the end of the day Late Middle Age Western Tech and Tactics will win almost 10/10 of battles on equal grounds.

One of the main reasons Asia lagged far behind in technology was because it cut itself off from the rest of the world. Heck i'd still say China is trying to sort itself out today.

Now taking on China without guns? That's a different story :P

Actually by the end of the Sengoku Jidai period you had a heavily standardized army formation in Japan, that would be equal if not better than European armies. Pike and shot tactics were dominant, and Japan had a standardized Teppo design and Yari length, whereas in modern european armies guns were not standardized, which led to a higher logistical cost, and while spears in armies such as Portugal and Italy were standardized for the most part, it was a lot less common.

  4. There are plenty of Girl Gamers, however most of the ones i know tend to not talk because of the "OMG A GRILL" community, or people who start calling them *@##$ or c^#$ or "joking" about ra!@%# them, which is just annoying for all.

  5. we'll find out in an hour. if nothing changes then we know for sure.

YKNOW, 7 could easily be the start of the total amount of tenno there are. Grineer would want to be tracking the amount of existing tenno, right? right now our player total is over 7 million. The rolling numbers could be tallying the total tenno, starting at 7,XXX,XXX.

OH GOD PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE. GLORIOUS NIPPON STEEL MUST BE MINE!
