  1. Hello guys, I've recently returned to the game and I've noticed that there are plenty of new weapons that seem to be popular. Do you have any suggestions when it comes to weapons? Crit and/or status weapons welcome. Melee, primary and secondary.

And if you recommend some of the newer frames, I'd love to hear which ones. Thank you! 😁

  2. I posted this in another place but I feel this is a better option. I'm sorry, I haven't been active for a while before recently. I've recently come back to the game and I've encountered this issue where I won't hear NPCs if I'm talking to them directly (like in the first picture) or if I'm facing them while standing. I hear them as if I'm turned away from them, as if they're somewhere distant. Only when I turn around and don't look at said NPC (picture 2), I can hear them talk clearly.

I've checked sound settings, but I may have overlooked something. I changed the output so now it sounds better than before (I couldn't hear them either way before). Anyone has an idea of what's up?

    Ah sorry. I misunderstood then.

I would start looking into the software then. Understanding what software you need will also give you a much better idea about the process I think. Here's some software that is pretty much everywhere in the business these days:

Engine: You could make your own, but for small development teams it's usually better to go with Unity or UE4.

3D modeller: Maya or 3ds max. Or Blender if you want a free one.

    Sculpting: Zbrush or Mudbox.

Texturing: Substance designer and substance painter is the go to tools in the industry these days for making good textures.

Houdini: Also for modelling, but especially for procedural generation. In another life, before my current work, I actually made tools in Houdini for small game developers. I didn't work on the games, I "just" made the technical tools that the developers then used.

The process for making game assets goes: make concept art. Sculpt a high poly model in Zbrush (or mudbox). Make a lowpoly in game model. Bake normal maps from highpoly to low. Make textures for the model. Import into your game engine of choice. Learning the game engine is probably key to understanding the full process.

And do check out Houdini Engine which has plugins for both Unity and UE4. It has really become extremely popular among game developers, for good reason, because it allows you to make procedural tools in Houdini and then have them immediately available inside your game engine: https://www.sidefx.com/products/houdini-engine/

Oh, I know about some of them. A friend of mine started learning how to use Zbrush recently, it seemed interesting so I may take that up as well. Just learning for now, there's still time.
I appreciate the reply, I'll make sure to check all of these as soon as I have some free time (I have to work now). Thank you for the advice and suggestions 😊

Don't get too ambitious. If you're just a small group, there's no way you will ever make a game like Warframe. The amount of work that goes into a game like this is too much for a small group: modelling, rigging, animating, texturing, coding, writing, music, concept art, etc, etc.

Look instead at the work smaller teams has done. Look at something like Limbo and Inside and understand that to make that Playdead still took years to get it finished.

If you are a small group and this is your first game, make something small and simple. Be realistic.

Ah no, I think you misunderstood. I'm aware of how much work and effort goes into big games like this. For now, we just need to do a presentation about the process of planning, game making and marketing for our class, and to present it in front of our professors who will grade our work, and we could choose the type of game we'd like to present, so we chose this specific genre. I thought that any advice from people who made apps or games before could be interesting and useful not only for the presentation, but for our future plans as well. We would get the gist of it and have better understanding about the work that goes into it. If we plan to start anything, we better start prepared, right?

So yeah, we're not planning for anything big when we do actually start working, but it wouldn't kill to know what we're getting ourselves into. I feel really motivated to work, learn and create for the first time in years, so I want to use this opportunity to learn as much as I can. 😊

  6. Hello guys 😄

My group an I have a project coming up for our software engineering project management class in college, so I thought that besides doing my part of the research, it would be interesting to see if anyone here has any experience in this field, and maybe learn a thing or two from their perspective.

We were tasked with presenting the whole process of planning, marketing and creating a new game. We thought it was interesting, so we chose to make it a fast paced action game, kind of like Warframe. We were actually inspired by Warframe since it's an amazing game, and also our favourite. We have quite a bit of time to do it and it actually seems like an interesting, fun and beneficial project, since we also plan on making apps/games by ourselves in the future. This would be a good look into the whole planning and creation process, and into what goes into the game's marketing. We plan to do a thorough presentation and use all the info we got for our more serious future projects.

It would be really nice if someone that has experience gave us a tip or advice on the process, what we'd need to do, the organisation, the order in which things should happen, the programming, animating, designing, etc. Any of these topics would be helpful, and maybe we can have a discussion about it. Thank you in advance 😁

  7. I'm having trouble in the "Confront Umbra" part. First time I had come to that part, I had to leave the game due to urgent matters. When I came back, I suddenly had umbra equipped, even though I hadn't finished the quest or made the choice. I somehow managed to come to the choice scene by using operator to navigate the star chart and leaving the frame at the beginning of the scene and approaching umbra that way, but when I make the choice and after the short cutscene I'm greeted with this (screenshot). I have no idea to do, as if I move, I just start falling, and I can't get back into the frame. Has anyone encountered this? I can't figure out what to do.

Tried logging into my account which I just made and it constantly just tells me I cant log in and says what the title says.. I don't understand the reason for this considering I've tried reinstalling the game and changing password multiple times. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated! (:

Maybe it's the IP ban thing that's been happening to a lot of players lately. I just don't know how you are on the forums if that's the case. If it is, wait it out. I know it's annoying, but it worked for me. If you want, you can try submitting a ticket, maybe the support will help you.

  9. I think the old Void system was better and way more fun, it was one of my favourite things about Warframe. Void fissures are way too repetative, and that makes everything really annoying. The first time I played was fun, but later it just got tiring. You play the same thing over and over and over again, and the only difference is the enemy level. Besides, it's really short, which makes it worse, at least for me.

Also - where is all the excitment and "magic" of the Void? Sure, there were a few annoying things about it (like farming for rare keys), but it was all worth it. It was fun just going to a survival mission and having fun with other players as we try to stay alive as much as we can, and getting rewards along the way. It could be really challanging, which is what I liked about it. Keysharing was nice too. But now, it's all gone.

So, in my opinion, either bring back the old system or at least add some variations to the new Void fissure missions. It would be more fun. Just don't leave it on this and only this.

sorry, i would have to go with middle eastern Sumerian black folk metal band Melechesh

Bruh, thumbs up for music taste \m/
This song has popped into my mind, it doesn't really fit as a theme song, but oh well, he has an Anubis helm, and this is just an awesome song.

  11. I have a friend who played Warframe with me, but has stopped because he can't play with anyone unless he invited them when he is already in mission. Sometimes it would take a few times, and that's just a huge pain. When we would gather a squad, and someone starts the mission, his game takes forever load, and even if he manages to enter the mission, he gets disconnected within seconds. It's either he lost connection to the host, or if he's hosting, he simply gets disconnected and the whole squad falls apart. I really don't know what to do, it would be nice if we can play together again. Now, his PC can run Warframe well, his internet is pretty fast, and he has tried logging in and playing on my PC, but he has the same problem. I would be grateful if anyone has suggestions, so we can try to fix the problem. Thank you in advance.

  12. This happened to me too, not that long ago. You may want to wait a bit, and try again later. When it happened to me, I tried everything you did (except restarting the modem), then tried again later that night, and it downloaded with no problem. If that doesn't work, I'm sorry I wasn't of help. Good luck mate, those few hours were torture for me.

  13. If I understood you correctly, you can try the warframe market site, google it. You can see how much people sell their stuff for thereand how much they would offer for the things they buy. You can also try to ask someone from your clan or something, though people always told me to check that site out, and it's pretty useful.
