  1. Since the U12 performance weirdness, I've been running the game very well. Unfortunately, my friend's computer isn't top-of-the-line and suffers occasional freezes if we load a new tileset or some-such. This normally wouldn't cause an issue except this:

Apparently Warframe's timeout threshold is ridiculously low. From the time I hear "hold on, I'm frozen" to the time I stop and turn around, he's disconnected. This is excessively frustrating especially in more team-oriented modes like defense where I have to take the time to desperately defend the pod after losing his Snow Globe/Penta/[insert other defensive boon here] or especially assassination, since you can't have people joining the game after the objective is complete.

It seems to be an easy fix: either extend the timeout threshold so people that freeze aren't booted from the game in less than five seconds, or make it so that players who happen to disconnect during a mission can rejoin at any time within a certain time period, say five minutes or so, before being locked out as normal if the objective's complete.

  2. i don't use cable. i'm one of those "cord cutters" they're referencing in the news these days.

i never paid for xbl as i can't stand being marketed to on a device i pay for and additionally wouldn't pay the extortion fee.

even having to click on a close button irritates me as it's something i didn't want in my face to begin with.

steam does update whenever it feels like it unless you tell it not to. again, it assumes too much.

now before you go all rage-face fanboy on me again, this is my preference.

i don't run steam. (my son does, and i administrate his system so i do know a bit about it)

as i said previously, i don't have a problem with the concept of steam and i'm actively supportive of their linux endeavors.

most of my problems with it can be easily solved with a bit of patience and configuration.

but i'm unwilling to deal with it when i have alternatives and don't need it for what i'm doing.

it's unnecessary for me. again, this is my preference.

the OP asked others opinions, i'm simply giving mine. :P

    edit:

oh, and i have a mastery and understanding of the "hosts" file, so i rarely deal with online marketing either.

Fair enough, I was addressing your points and not trying to flame you or anything like that.

Your argument is valid, even if I think it is a bit unreasonable; as you said, your issues with it can be easily solved but if you don't want or need to deal with it then I don't see the point. I do think that your issues are what a lot of people find wrong with Steam as misconceptions or just because of people ranting about how it's bad when it's often-times not as bad as it's made out to be. Sure, it could use improvements, but it does a lot better than any of the other digital distributors right now. Even I used to hate Steam when I first got it, but after having it for nearly seven years it's either grown on me or just gotten better.

    Probably a bit of both.

(Sorry if I came off hostile or something, wasn't my intention)

  3. approx 50mb memory utilization (all the time)

and unless you pay close attention it will download updates whenever it feels like it.

    constant exposure to marketing

i don't have a problem with steam as a concept. i have a problem with it in practice.

it's attitude reflects that you expect to use your system as a gaming rig and nothing else.

that your entire existence on the system is STEAM

that said, steamOS, steamboxes and the drive to push things to linux i'm 110% behind and love the fact that it's happening.

    but these are separate issues.

What is this "constant exposure to marketing" you're complaining about? Sure, you get a Steam news popup occasionally after you've closed a game with whatever new sale is on or new releases, and that's solved by clicking the nice little "CLOSE" button at the bottom-left. And why not *@##$ about TV networks blasting advertisements, billboards, internet ads, and so on, if Steam's the case? Don't really see where marketing comes into play.

And, no, Steam doesn't "update whenever it feels like it." You can control the time it downloads, whether or not it'll download while playing a game, how much bandwidth it'll use, etc. And if you really don't want it to update at all you can open the game's properties and set the nice little "DO NOT UPDATE THIS GAME" setting.

As for Steam using lots of memory...what? My Steam is currently using...let's see...40mb of memory. Firefox, on the other hand, with four open tabs including a Youtube window is closer to 500mb. Unless you're running on some ancient IBM tower 40mb is memory you won't really miss. I do have performance complaints about Steam given that even with the new disk usage feature it'll still download as fast as it can until it freezes and then continue, which can be frustrating. That's about my only complaint with it.

TL;DR Stop complaining about Steam invading your privacy or whatever, if you really don't like it then don't get games on Steam or at the least turn it off when you're done playing or what-have-you. Lots of Steam-bought games can be launched without it even running.

  4. We already have piercing hit which is damage vs armor. And serration needs to be removed but if it does weapons need a skill tree to raise damage, RoF, Reload time etc.

Actually I believe adding the skill tree to weapons would make the grind on newbies much lighter.

There was actually a skill tree-esque system before the current mod system was introduced. It was removed in favor of what we have now.

  5. In my experience your XP gains are fine, the bars have been like that since closed beta. Should've been fixed right now but it's forgivable with DE's other concerns. A misleading XP bar is much less egregious than the various crashes/optimization issues.

  6. I have a quad core and the game runs flawlessly, near-perfect 50-60 FPS unless there's a crapload of particle effects going on at once. I'm not sure what your problem is, but I did go and do a bit of prowling about that specific processor and it has the worst benchmarks out of this group of CPUs. That being said, do the standard eliminate-things-that-you-don't-need-running process and see if it helps you at all.

    My specs, if you're curious:

    -Core i7 960 @ 3.2GHz

    -2x GTX 460s w/ 1GB VRAM

    -6GB DDR3 RAM

  7. Welcome to the master race! It's better here, and you're far, far away from those dirty console peasants.

    THIS IS A JOKE

    THIS IS A JOKE

In all seriousness, welcome to the game and the platform in general, hope you have a good time. As to your question:

As far as I know (emphasis on that), only the official Xbox PC controller will work with Warframe right now. That being said, there may be a way, as I've never messed with any gamepads besides an Xbox one for Dark Souls.

  8. The text on the textures is there to make it really obvious to QA that there's a bug/problem that needs to be fixed.

Clearly this hotfix didn't go through QA.

Yeah, I'm betting heads are going to roll at DE, I don't really see how it's possible to have missed that...

  9. So does this means that Digital Extremes is going to have problems?

DE did work on Bioshock 1 and 2, so let's hope not - though as was previously stated, the textures may be only licensed for Bioshock.

  10. suggested yesterday. just hit"name" and it lists them all together for you its much better then what you've suggested anyways

And what if you have several pages of mods? And for the colorblind people here, the mod pictures really don't stand out when you mouse over them, either. It's a convenience suggestion. The categories we have now aren't necessary either, but they're definitely nice.

  11. +1. I would love a feature like this. A bit tedious to flip through all my mod pages and not find the ones I want to upgrade, not find it and think I just made a mistake reading the reward page, then go back after the next mission and find it there even though I know I didn't pick one up.

  12. I oddly have no issues with Disruptors. Their arm attack is dreadfully short-ranged, and freeze damage mods render them utterly impotent. Using any of my frames (so far those have been Excal, Saryn, Loki, Rhino, Nyx, and Ember) I can reliably dodge them by rolling or just backpedaling if I see them charging up.

  13. Okay, now how about you google it and find out there is no list of blueprints only obtainable from alerts.

I've already said that I've attempted to find one, and couldn't.  There is no need to be a giant #$&(% bag, especially when I'm making this program for the community.  If you have nothing to contribute to what I asked, don't post.

The wiki. It doesn't have this listed word for word, but it does say which ones are obtainable from alerts if you want to comb through each BP.

  14. Couldn't agree more. It's frustrating and rather boring to have to go kill the easiest boss in the game for the largest reward in the game right now. Defense missions used to be viable when Infested dropped truckloads of frame ability mods back when they were all rare, but with the rarity fixes that's out of the picture too.

  15. It's up to personal choice.

Braton can be a bullet hose fully upgraded, but it's rather poor stock.

Burston is similar to the Braton, really high damage output when modded, but terrible stock.

Snipetron is generally poor right now, a Lex outperforms it in ranged combat.

Latron is okay, it's not horrible but not the best either.

Gorgon has the ability to become a death-spewing, room-clearing minigun but chews through ammo like nothing else.

Boltor has great RoF, innate armor penetration, and good damage. Only drawbacks being slow projectiles and the darts will fly off in random directions at long range.

Also, this is technically the wrong forum seeing as this is for feedback relating to the game, the general questions forum is here.

  16. How is this resolved?  Game is lagging so bad, that there is no point in killing the AI right now.  They can't hit you, I'm stupidly invincible, I can run by all the AI as they are floating in the air or just standing around, none of their bullets hit me.

You seem to misunderstand how the game servers work. That has nothing to do with DE's servers, that's a problem with the host of the game you're currently playing on. DE's servers have nothing to do with how the game actually plays unless they've changed that drastically.

  17. Hello, I joint the game only one week ago, get a mage personage and right now I have a little problem, I get lvl 30 like 3 days ago and in the seme day a get a special reactor for suit.. Rigth now I cannot get any higher then lvl 30.. Can any one help with it? Because I thing that lvl 30 is not the max lvl in the game.

    Thank you

This would be more suited to a new thread, but level 30 is indeed the max level for suits/weapons. Build yourself a new one and try it out.

  18. everyone gets something different nerver the same for everyone

Incorrect, in this case. What you're thinking about is mods. OP, bosses drop the same blueprints for everyone in the party, a copy for everyone. In other words, if you killed Phorid and he dropped a Nyx Chassis, everyone could pick it up without having to worry about stealing from anyone else. The same goes for energy orbs, affinity orbs, health orbs, and ammo - everyone sees them, everyone can pick them up.

Mods are randomized for everyone, but everyone can still pick one up in the same manner.

  19. - The phrase "flank him out" is incorrect. "Flanking" and "flushing out" are two tactically different actions. "Flanking" is surrounding an enemy from two or more sides so that they are unable to retreat. "Flushing out" is positioning units in such a position as to force an enemy to retreat in a specific direction, or out of cover.

Kind of nitpicking, but I understand, as this...

    - "Overhaul" and "override" are not synonymous. "Override" means what you think it does, but "overhaul" means to improve drastically, usually by means of dramatic or even complete change.

Does bother me. It's been that way since I joined in Jan.

    - The Greneer sound a LOT like Wrex from the Mass Effect series, to the point that it's a bit distracting. Perhaps some sort of voice filter or processed effect could be added to their sound files?

*shrug* I don't find this that bothersome, personal preference.

    - Headshots feel EXTREMELY unrewarding. The only indicator that I've even scored one is a higher damage number. Maybe they could use yellow text, and say "headshot!" in small text below the number?

Silly, I think. How's this for satisfying: Grineer take full damage from headshots. Corpus take no normal damage, but 2000% AP damage.

    - In that vein, criticals feel unrewarding as well. Yellow text doesn't feel like enough; perhaps they could use red text, boldface, and the word "Critical!" next to the number?

I think crits are fine as they are, though they could be a bit more noticable.

    - The mission indicator keeps flashing up on my HUD. It's quite distracting, since the human eye is drawn to movement and changes in light. Please either leave it up or show it only when the player is not progressing.

    I've never noticed this.

    - I'm getting REALLY sick of hearing about Formation Bravo, that I'm here, and that the Greneer REALLY like to stick to walls. There needs to be a wider variety of combat dialogue.

I do agree with this, a bit more variety would be nice.

    - Ammunition drops seem to have no rhyme or reason. Riflemen drop shotgun ammo, shotgunners drop pistol ammo, and everyone drops sniper ammo when nobody on the entire ship, friend or foe, is carrying one. Either have enemies drop the ammo type they're using, or lock them into dropping only ammo types that the party is using.

Seems nit-picky. I'm fine with it dropping randomly.

    - Security hacking controls are backwards. I have, on numerous occasions, failed a hacking attempt because I thought I was going to rotate a piece clockwise, but rotated it counter-clockwise instead. Left click needs to rotate counter-clockwise, and right click needs to rotate clockwise, not the other way around.

These need to be rebindable, yeah.

    - Hacking looks for whether the pieces are aligned according to a fixed alignment, not if they match up. I failed a hacking attempt because the pieces were aligned to form an hourglass shape, with the central piece being an X shape. I successfully made the shape, but I still failed the attempt because the game expected the piece to be rotated 180 degrees from the way I had it, despite the fact that the pattern was complete.

This needs to be fixed, I agree totally here.

    - Switching weapons feels sluggish. If Tenno are masters of the blade and gun, they should be able to effortlessly flow from one to the other; including from one gun to another.

They feel fast enough to me, it's faster than the majority of games.

    - On enemy health bars, there is a name that looks like this:

    Greneer Lancer[1]

I can tell that it's their name, but what is the number supposed to be? Is it their level? A better indication would be in order, such as "Greneer Lancer (LVL 1)" or something along those lines.

It's their level, it's fine the way it is. 90% of RPGs with a level system have the enemy level displayed next to their name in that fashion.

    - I find it frustrating that hostiles continue to pour in from directions I've already come from. Didn't I clear that area already? It feels cheap and makes me feel like I'm not doing my job properly, since I apparently can't clear out a room properly.

The random spawning is frustrating, totally agreed here. Nothing more to say about that.

    - Melee attacks feel unrefined and hard to aim. Perhaps there could be a system put in place that automatically aims your strike to the enemy closest to your cursor?

They...go where you're aiming? Seriously, they go where your crosshair is.

    - I accidentally ended my second playthrough too soon by wandering too close to the wall-mounted Tenno socket at the end of the mission, when there were hostiles in the area I wanted to kill for experience and possible loot. There needs to be a confirmation button to make sure the player wants to leave. It should still be easy to use quickly, though, in case the player is low on health and wants to get the heck out of Dodge.

This would be a nice feature, yeah.

Anyway, welcome to the game, glad to have another member of the community, especially someone who phrases their criticism as intelligently and constructively as yourself. I don't agree with a lot of it, but there's some nice points, and at least you're polite and constructive with it, as I said. Welcome aboard!

  20. Not sure how this should be started off but, I think they should introduce a feature that allows someone to Rush a craft with credit, abiet at a large sum. instead of just plat.

This is one way they're making money. I doubt they'll do it. One thing I'd like to see though is rushing costing less platinum the closer something is to completion.
