is it just me or did anyone else notice the *cough* adult implied theme *cough* cough* red text? i try not to be in the gutter which is why i was surprised this even was written by someone at DE because SOMEBODY is gonna have a fit.

just surprised at the more mature tone this game is going for in some ways.or has it always been this way?

hope i don't get in trouble for posting this~ just thinking to myself....

    Game has an M rating.

You also routinely dismember people ingame for rewards.

I don't think redtext innuendo made this game have a mature tone.

Edit: also redtext innuendo has been a thing for a long time.

Nop, the servers must be collapsing with the amount of requests taken at this time. I'm personally getting "download failed" messages after downloading about 1Gb of the files even when my internet speed is decent.

Thing is, this happens even when not on patch day.

I've taken breaks from the game more times than I can remember, everytime I came back to 500+ MBs worth of patches, this happened.

For instance, prior to the update that brought us kavats, I had not played much at all for 3-4 months, I believe I started over a couple days after that update dropped, and I still had this issue.

Basically self explanatory from the pic.

What I have tried so far :

-Drop steam client for the standalone version.

-Disable firewall (and give the launcher added priviledges to get through it even if it's disabled, just in case windows decides to suck)

    -Disable antivirus

    -Direct modem connection

    -Using VPNs

-Tinkering about with aggresive/bulk download, which seems to sometimes put it at 200 kbps speeds *if* I am lucky.

    -Turning it off and on.

-Turning the computer off and on.

-Doing a clean boot and starting again.

-Reinstalling more times than I can remember.

And probably something else that I cannot remember since I've had this issue from day one.

The odd thing : the first two minipatches, which I assume were the new launcher and some other thing, downloaded at well over 500 kbps, not nearly close to my net cap, but somewhat acceptable compared to 5 kbps.

So, has anyone found any workaround or fix to this? I'd be glad to try it if it's within the realm of possibility.

It's probably your connection, personally i'm having no issues.

My usual DL speed is around 3-4mb/s. So pretty normal.

You having no issues does not mean nobody else has them.

Glad it works for you, doesn't for me though, and has not since I started this game, which as you can tell by my join date on the forums, is quite a long time ago.

I hope they document their work today as a blog post.

"...then we finally got a stable build. However, one of our testers did a backflip into a lamppost sideways while in Archwing mode using Titania, which somehow overwrote his entire Warframe progress and transported his character into Bioshock. We sighed as we went back to the drawing board to solve the bug."

That's the kind of bug you want to make a feature.

    Like jump cancel in DMC3.

Just found this, apparently lays have been hiding in plain sight in australia the whole time.

    Quote

In Australia, Pepsico acquired the The Smith's Snackfood Company in 1998 and marketed Frito-Lay products under that label, using the name Thins. After Thin's was sold to Snack Brands Australia (Owned by Arnotts), Smith's produced a line of potato chips under the Lay's brand for a brief period of time. The Lay's line was eventually rebranded as Smith's Crisps, while the traditional Smith's line was renamed Smith's Crinkles. Thins is still sold in Australia as a direct competitor to Smith's Crisps.

Besides We been waiting this long, becuase 1. the first story leaked  2. They had to change it and that took a very long time. and each section they got to in making their dream needed to be tested if it felt right.  Not to mention THings that have NEVER told us about being made.

Honestly.....dont mean to be a downer but.   Somone people in this world dont even have drinking water or a place to sleep. and you all running around complaining WHEN WHEN WHEN.  I dont mean to sound Harsh. But she be Glad this game even EXISTS!

I would find just the opposite. The 1 hour thing is actually wasiting people's time becuase they are here, ready when they said it would be ready and they are then saying 1 more hour. Not really enough time to change your plans. Then one MORE hour, then one more hour... they kinda have them on the hook, and that's what I think some people find really annoying, with good reason.

They should have just said 3 hours when the delay happened, and if it was ready in 2 just release it in 3. Better people can actually plan their time then wait, wait wait.

I suppose so, yes, but that requires a hindsight level that is probably beyond human and definitely beyond DE.

Announcing a date for TWW when the script wasn't finished was, I'll allow, not the wisest choice possible. But there were complaints about delays well before the TWW thing. Personally, I want DE to tell me about upcoming updates as soon as there's information to be had. I really don't want them holding back info because some players might get mad that the info ends up changing over time. Especially when the alternatives are either a) getting new content later, or b) not getting any warning at all that content is going to drop.

To be fair, if you take the "people complaining" example to the test, I bet you'll find people have complained about any and all things you can think of; just go to tumblr and you'll have enough examples to publish a thousand papers on the subject, really.

Now complaining with some bit of justification as to doing so, is an entirely different beast; the 5 months I find justified, the "oh it's 1 hour more" I do not.

@OmegaDragotroid Five months is far from unexpected, the latest 1hr delay is, the whole trainwreck behind was not.

I'm not really worried about changing their opinion. DE does (despite all the complaints otherwise) a fairly good job of being responsive to their players. So I don't want the only voices they hear to be the ones calling for a change to the way new content is released.

I think the problem here is communication, not content release itself.

I mean yeah everyone's pulling the "5 months delay" card, but if they had kept quiet about a patch that was far from finished then nobody would've known that it was being pushed back because it would have never been announced to come in july; thus not creating unnecessary expectation about something that was nowhere near finished.

Is it on people to create expectations? sure is, it's also on whoever is telling "this will happen" to them; throwing the bag of blame to just one group isn't going to do much at all here.

  12. Just now, motorfirebox said:

Because DE only has two options for address this. Either they can set the release date to be way, way, way, way, way, way later than the expected completion date (like 6 months or more later)

You mean like they did with TW--- oh.

Not that I care about 1 hour, but eh, maybe y'all should just let angry people be angry and quit playing advocate, it's not like you're going to change their opinion, or they are going to change yours.

That's because they concentrate on what they know well - game itself. I can understand that.

On the other side they don't want to find someone who can bring more speed to launcher and download process.

If they did a good p2p that would increase speed massively and take the CDN load to minimum.

I honestly wish they did a torrent download for those huge updates, having a seedbox on for 2-3 hours would likely give it enough momentum to have it carry itself after that.

I mean if the worry is "oh someone can then access the files and hack the game", just compile it as a single file and have the launcher read it, much like it does with the standalone client pieces.

Also : CDN was apparently being fed steroids yesterday, so they expect a huge ammount of traffic; still though with these things it's better to expect the unexpected.

Sincerely that's bad because I'm from EU and I don't really want to play at 3 am.

But I don't mind . If it drops at night. Let them. At least I know that in the morning I can download it.

To be fair, even if you stay awake all night, when you fire your client at 3 am you're probably going to have to deal with their CDN choking itself to death due to a bajillion download requests.

What I'm trying to say is, even if it seems EU got the short end of the stick, I think it might be the other way around.
