  1. I'm running the game on basically minimum settings (though with 200% effect intensity, which should make the effect as visible as it can be).  If it looks better at higher settings, that would explain why someone in the art department thought it was an improvement, but they may not have remembered to test the effect at lower settings.

The old effect worked wonderfully, but the newer one appears to be sacrificing function for form.

edit: Normally I don't care at all how something looks as long as it works, but when the effect IS the practical aspect, then I do have a problem.

On topic:  if I take off the amalgam augur mod, it looks basically just like the pre-update picture in the OP.   With the mod, it's completely different.  Not as good as without it, but it's still a lot more visible than what I can see in the second picture.

I still think that's a bug, but in the meantime you might try changing your energy color, checking your display settings, and/or taking off the the amalgam mod as a workaround.

Just ran in to test it and it looks like you're right; it's still different from what it used to be but the mod itself has the worst effects.

(And without the mod you can't see through walls, so no screenshot there)

    • Fixed Amalgam Argonak Metal Auger FX Energy color covering the entire enemy in a solid color. It now envelopes the enemy is a ghostly FX!

I'm sad to see that literally no one else is talking about this, but it does go to show that this gun isn't popular and doesn't deserve such a massive nerf.  To break down the change, if a whole body highlight is a 100%, the new effect is somewhere around 2-5%.  You can't see the effect, and that makes it so you can't see the enemies.  I always enjoyed it as my primary DMR (and have been rolling a riven 82 times to try to get perfect stats) but I can't justify using it anymore if it has lost the one thing that made it unique.

In my personal opinion, even if the effect were brightened to a visible level, the full enemy highlighting would be both more practical and more visually appealing.

  4. The new Argonak highlighting change actually ruins the ability.  If a whole body highlight is a 100%, the new effect is somewhere around 2-5%.  You can't see the effect, and therefore you can't see the enemies.  I always enjoyed it as my primary DMR (and have been rolling a riven 82 times to try to get perfect stats) but I can't justify using it any more if it has lost the one thing that made it unique. wotTaFw.jpgBo9L7wW.jpg
