  1. OK, heres how it works. What makes fiction believeable and practical is that it follows a set of rules that it puts forth. Take the most unrealistic thing, namely Nekros. The game says it can do this, so, if it were to follow the rules it puts forth, it should not do certain things. Radia Blind describes a blinding light. Light cannot travel through walls, nor does damaging effects occur if you are not looking directly at the source. Radial Blind now follows the rules it sets.

On another note, Exc was a one trick pony and it was boring. Move to another frame with better utility. To name a few: Loki, Nyx, Nova, Rhino, Vauban, Zephyr, Oberon, Valkyr.

So radial blind should be able to reflect off shiny surfaces like in the void, and instantly dispel shadows of the dead.

Valkyr has better utility than excalibur wait what?

  2. Yup im just waiting a nerf for Hydroid because is no water in the map to spawn the these "tentacles".

Make hydroid freeze whenever he tries to use any ability on an ice map. Make ember's abilities use up life support quicker because fire needs oxygen. Turn on friendly fire because logic.

  3. You're right! It's totally unrealistic!

And so is moving fast in an exosuit! All tenno should walk 400% slower than they do now!

And tenno abilities, so unrealistic! We should do away with them!

And So many of our weapons are so unrealistic too! We should only get to use guns that exist today!

And not using cover!? Unrealistic, warframe is now a cover-based shooter!

Oh wow hey, looks like we're another call of duty clone now, good job.

    Haha burnnnnnn

  4. Weeeeelll...

Light has this nasty habit of usually NOT traveling through solid objects. Funny how that works.

Also the skill was totally broken before. Let's face it.

Ooooh applying logic to a space ninja game. Here's an idea, how about you wait a few years when you want to travel between earth and mars?

  5.

This is a difference in direction, you are thinking ease of use is king, where to us immersion is king. You could certainly make the argument that the foundry information could be easier to read as an excel sheet, but it's not what we are going for.

The direction DE plans to take scares me. So basically, screw ease of use in the pursuit of better immersion?

What next, making us wait 200-300 days real life time to travel from Earth to Mars or making kubrows poop?

  6. The mods look flashy now... yes - BUT - since part of Tenno life is scrolling through pages of mods, and trying to catch a glance of what our Carrier just sucked up before getting mauled by Infestation... it's waaaay to hard to look at them now.

    Overstyled is exactly right.

The gold / silver / bronze needs to be toned down.

The "frames" of the mods are just too flashy in general... needs to be simplified with less of a 3D appearance.

The dots indicating power level are a little hard to see... IMO they should be less "glowy" and more solid, with a better contrast against the card border.

I'm not against a design update, but someone on the team over there needs to keep the aritsts on little tighter leash!

You got it right. "Artists", not UI designers, made this lol

  7. The big issue though is with all the time and effort they spent on just giving a different UI (as you mentioned the previous and current both have issues), They could have fixed or improved issues that needed to be improved rather than remaking what was already there (that arguably didnt need to improve) with a different look (that now feels more like a tech demo than a functional UI).

Even if they wanted to do the change the UI they could have used the previous UI untill the new aspects were in a finished state (rolling it out bit by bit as each section got done), rather than this piecemeal of unfinished UI parts (whast done is done however).  It feels more we are traveling in circles with the UI.

I mean we have gone back to the horozontal scrolling that was removed in an older edition of the UI because it just didnt work well (a big part of that was tabs, but the scrolling was put on one side for a good reason).

There are many sugestions that really havent been addressed as well.  Players had issues with moving UI wanting a way to stop it moving yet more moving UI got added (they dont seem to always listen either).

I'll actually be supprised if we dont eventually see a UI 3.0 as so much of the current one is rather restricted in its potential functionality growth (there are many core functions that still dont have a place in the new UI style) and will "start showing its age" before long.

It's like someone on the design team has ADD and needs everything to constantly move and be shiny

  8. New player here, plus two new friends I recruited to play with me.  No, we wouldn't.  Before we could scroll through the "cards" and skim-read them for "damage" or "reload" (as there is no search function, but that's a different story...) Now we have to individually open each card, memorize what it said and what the name is and move to the next.  For dozens of mods.  We all gave up and are looking for the next game we'll be playing together.

^ What I've been saying. But everyone is like no you guys are lazy and need to get used to change.

  9. If you think motion and colour are slower than images, as my argument suggested, you should do more research.

Also, I never claimed that all negative feedback about the new UI was due to fear of change. Taking a statement I said (a lot of people are scared of change), and applying it to someone else's argument shows you didn't read what I said, or seek to discredit me by taking key phrases out of context to make generalizations.

My argument from the start is to give it time. Aside from those suffering from motion sickness requesting an option to disable parallax or CVD wanting a non-colour means to distinguish rarity, I have yet to see feedback that was not just, "It's ugly." Mind you, I am all for those two aforementioned suggestions.

Now, if you care to get off arguing about semantics, and give some suggestions to improve the new UI, I'd love to hear it, as you seem quite intelligent and could have great ideas.

No, I don't think that. But my argument is about them changing the UI from pics to text only. The wobbly stuff and color selection is another matter.

  10. its called frustration and yeah id agree, ive seen and been thru the same supposed game enhancements in several other games ive enjoyed and played over the years and ended up leaving those games (WoW/STO/Eve/Etc) as i have done here as well for now.

the honest impression im getting on the forums since U14 tho is that for those of us making serious feedback were just seen as whiny retards who who are somehow mentally incapable of adapting, our opinions are seen as wrong and invalid and that we should be silent and put up with it and move along while a lot of those who say they like it give virtually no constructive feedback when they are trying to counter other peoples supposedly wrong opinions.

there should always be feedback and it should ideally be given serious thought which is why other games have test servers to avoid splitting their community in half and letting some of their customers walk.

has anyone complained about the actual IN GAME stuff after U14?  no, everyone who liked warframe still does, has anyone complained about the UI after U14?  yes lots, if the actual game itsself was a trainwreck i could understand huge conflicting opinion but all thats happened is something seemingly far simpler, the pre-game menu/ui, i personally like the run and gun stuff, but just cant stand using that new menu/ui so much that i cant bring myself to use it to get into a game, my mood utterly ruined by something that should be a simple and efficient gateway to the game.

    /vent

No, the people that mindlessly lap up all the garbage decisions DE is throwing at them are just lemmings, not the masters of adaption to change they consider themselves to be.

  11. Not really. If we want to go with the car analogy, this is more like moving from America to the UK and having to drive on the opposite side of the road. It's not less efficient to drive on the opposite side of the road, or more efficient to drive on the opposite side of the road. It's just different. And no matter how much a few people complain, they're not going to reverse the roads just for you.

Your analogy is based on the assumption the two options are equally efficient. They're not. Words =/= pictures. Preference isn't even a factor here.

  12. Oh, relaying facts as opinions... my specialty.

Actually, you are way off. To your brain, words are just another picture that has association to the language. All information processed from the eyes is a picture to the brain, really (unless you have really rare conditions disrupting that).

What is different to the brain is colour and movement, as colour is linked to psychological response and movement is linked directly to equilibrium. Both are also strongly linked to primal reflexes in detecting predators/prey.

The previous mod UI had one colour of the border of the mod, denoting it's rarity (which I largely ignored because I could barely tell them apart), then you had yet other colours in the image of the mod.

Furthermore, the image in the mod moved independently of the mod itself, which is one of the main reasons I think people are having problems, even though they aren't aware of it. That image bobbing up and down made it stick out in the brain more, thus causing you to remember the images (not the words) more distinctly.

Fortunately, with a bit of colour correction (bronze and gold... really DE?) and a non-coloured way to identify rarity added, everyone should be acclimated in a couple of weeks, granted they be open minded enough to learn.

Feel free to do some research before relaying opinion as fact in the future.

I'll even give you some articles to start with:

POINT ONE: A large majority of people are afraid of change. It is rather well known, so attempting to dissolve this argument is not very valid. Most complaints in this forum have been, "I don't like the UGLY new design, let me go back to the old one."

That is not what I would call constructive, but rather just people not wanting change.

POINT TWO: This is handled in another thread, and is irrelevant to you not liking the UI. Please do not use us with disabilities as weighting your argument, as I have CVD, and I like the new UI just fine.

POINT THREE: Life is all about adaptation. While things can be tweaked to tailor it a bit more, the argument, "Let me go back" is not useful.

No need. You're way off, not me. People process language slower than pictures.

"Furthermore, the image in the mod moved independently of the mod itself, which is one of the main reasons I think people are having problems, even though they aren't aware of it. That image bobbing up and down made it stick out in the brain more, thus causing you to remember the images (not the words) more distinctly."

No need for the wall-of-text theorycraft, people simply remember images more distinctly than words, nothing to do with the moving images.

Feel free to do some non wikepedia research in future.

Here, I'll start you off too:

'POINT ONE: A large majority of people are afraid of change. It is rather well known, so attempting to dissolve this argument is not very valid. Most complaints in this forum have been, "I don't like the UGLY new design, let me go back to the old one."'

Wrong again. Most complaints have been about the new UI being less efficient and being harder to navigate. A large majority of the people arguing in favor of the new UI are taking the easy route by attributing every negative comment to people being afraid of change. "You say new UI is slower to navigate? No you're afraid of change. You say wobbly mods and interface make you dizzy? No you're afraid of change." Hah. No, I'm not afraid of change. I like the new music, I like the ship, but I think the mods and wobby interfaces are inefficient and redundant.

  13. I feel like you didn't read what I said at all.

    Change can be scary.

The reason there's people complaining is because A) they don't feel comfortable anymore, and B) only angry people will come to the forums, so saying it's bad because angry people are on the forums is a total misrepresentation.

    Oh, and gimped is subjective.

With that argument we can dismiss all negative feedback to anything new.

"What's that? You don't like this new car without brakes? It's not the car it's you, change can be scary learn to get used to it you noob."

Or maybe, just maybe, the reason so many people are complaining about the new UI is because.... it sucks plain and simple?

  14. That's just preference though. They're not actually harder or easier to pick out. I recognized mods by picture too, and after about an hour I had no problem with the names. That's more of a sidegrade than an upgrade or downgrade.

Just because you get used to them doesn't make the new UI any less terrible to navigate. If someone gets used to playing FPS with his feet, does it mean that everyone else should quit whining and use their feet too, because apparently they can get used to it so they should?

Opinion = new UI is good because I got used to it, so should everyone else

Fact = Pictures > words. New wall of text UI is bad

It has been proven in many tests that pictures are more effective than words for both recall and recognition.

  15. I cannot understand the reasoning but at some point the design team seems to have decided that adding more complexity and blocks of text to the mod ui was a good idea.

Now, instead of clearly marked and very colorful mods I have blocks of text that I need to sometimes squint at to try and see the number of dim blue dots which indicate mod rank. Instead of a clearly indicated large text to show the mods rarity, we now have a new color coded system.

Worst of all, instead of being able to see some of the fantastic artwork of our mods clearly, we are now subjected to a large and somewhat confusing wall of text that at points seems very hard to read on a 1920x1080 resolution.

As a long time avid gamer and an individual who has invested some of his own money into parts of this game I am pleading with the designers to take a long and serious look at your new mod UI and recognize that not only does this change lack any kind of artistic value, it is a huge step away from the stated goal of your previous update which was to bring simplicity and ease of use to your game.

In addition to my serious artistic criticism of this change, the small, constantly moving text (because of following the mouse) and the squinting I am now forced to do in order to read parts of this new UI is already causing me headaches and eye strain which is forcing me to seriously reconsider my attachment to this game.

I am again, imploring whoever it is that reads these feedback messages to ask your design team to take a long, hard, serious look at whether or not this new change is in line with the overall goal of adding greater ease of use and simplicity to this game.

It's no use, the UI team pretty much said F*** us they're sticking to the new UI whether we like it or not

  16. Funny you mention evolution, as most successes within that are flukes that managed to carve out a niche. The failed mutations of a species tend to die off.

Warframe needs to improve, not evolve. Evolve seems to imply more that it is changing into something else entirely. Currently it feels like DE is trying to hard to become something it isn't. Gone are the days of parkouring stealthy space promises, and in its place are giant bloom Michael bay filters.

The truth is out. Michael Bay is on the DE team!

Coming soon, U15: Archwing and the war for cybertron *boom boom pew pew kapow*
