  1. The Attica repeating crossbow is, strangely, an extremely loud gun. It seems to alert the entire tile every time it fires, despite being what appears to be a silent crossbow. It alerts more enemies than the snipetron vandal. I am guessing this is a bug, so reporting it as such.

  2. Sentinels are always one of the best deals. 75 plat, when 40 of that is potato and 12 is slots means you're paying a grand total of 13 plat for the sentinel by itself. If you use plat for *anything*, sentinels are a good idea.

  3. When the stutters happened for me, they happened if I just started the game and left it on the title screen; they were sharp spikes of *no* frames, not just low FPS.

  4. Well, the good news is that I fixed the problem.

The bad news is that I accomplished it by throwing money at the problem; my CPU, motherboard, and RAM were all about 6-7 years old, so I used this as an excuse to upgrade.

I regret nothing. Seriously quadrupled my framerate without replacing my video card.

  5. Quick reminder to everyone having problems: do open up a trouble ticket over at support.warframe.com. Part of the process is gathering lots of real data, instead of just guessin'. Also makes it more obvious that yeah, this is totes a serious problem. I'm not really expecting to find anything on this side at this point, but anything that helps DE figure out what the heck the game is doing in these isolated cases and patch it out would be great.

  6. Just spent an hour auditing all of my processes and installed programs after my support ticket got the standard 'make sure the firewall isn't in the way' answer. Didn't find a culprit, but I do have to ask. Anyone else using Windows 8.1? Trying to find any other common threads here.

  7. I've been running super-deep scans lately, and will be doing some anti-rootkit stuff tonight, but the spikes do *not* happen when Warframe is not running, so I'm not really hopeful on that front.

  8. Okay, took a few minutes to collect my findings so far.

The game is, quite reliably, suffering from constant freezes after maybe 5-15 minutes of playing. I can't find any real pattern, but once it starts happening, it happens 2-5 times a minute, freezing for maybe 1-2 seconds each time. CPU and RAM usage look normal whenever it's not frozen. During every freeze, all my cores peg at 100%. Naturally, this only happens in Warframe. Everything is up to date, download cache has been defragged and verified more times than I can readily count.

Interestingly, all four cores peg at 100% even if I have the affinity for Warframe's process set to only 1-3. This might imply something else going on, but I have been unable to narrow it down beyond that. The problem started happening sometime during Cicero, but I couldn't tell you specifically which part of it.

I have adjusted every single display-related and launcher-related option. Resolutions have been changed. Windowed mode has been tested. Individual settings have been flicked on and off. DX11 and 64-bit mode and even multi-core rendering have been toggled. No change in the behavior at any point. Video drivers were changed, programs have been killed out, the non-Steam version has been tried, the process repeated on that one. I cannot find any switches left on the program to flip to try and make the hurting stop.

    Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
    4 GB RAM
eVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti (this matches the OP, and Gentlemoa later in the thread, for whatever that's worth. Beatwapz reports a GTX 690, so i'm starting to wonder about this series)
No recent changes to any hardware or software.

  9. Latest patch appears to have fixed it for me, thank goodness. Hooray for Redtext.

UPDATE: NOPE, never mind. Back to random freezes, even in the arsenal.

  10. That word you used. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Nah, I was being tongue-in-cheek. With everything changing so rapidly, I wasn't about to rule out there being a bug where it was misreporting weaknesses.

Which part of the codex has the information regarding Damage 2.0? I never bothered with it :/

Look up any individual enemy when you have enough scans on them; once you have the max for an enemy, it tells you their weaknesses.

  11. Saryn is a classy lady, and she deserves the best.

Giving her a spectrum of toxic damages is very, very classy. Making venom act like a proper plague likewise. Miasma will be impossible to really judge until we find out how much the numbers shifted, but making it either corrosive or gas was one of my few wishes for her anyway, and damage 2.3 or whatever means that Enferon gas is only really useful against Infested. Love that little injoke, by the way. Also very classy.

  12. While DE is being carefully and intentionally vague about who or what Lotus is, the new voice screams that it's an AI at the top of its lungs. Then again, maybe it's just that we've been conditioned to think that heavy distortion and processing == rampant AI. I mean, when else does it even come up, ever?

Seriously, though, soon as I started hearing the endless flat monotones, I started wondering how long before we get the "LOTUS IS AN ESCAPED SENTIENT YOU GUYS" plot bomb. It's not necessarily a *bad* voice, but I mourned the loss of the Grineer's English voice clips, too. :<

  13. So, this was originally going to be a question on if normal flesh and infested flesh got reversed by mistake. However, since normal flesh had all the weaknesses infested had and then some, I get the feeling the point was more to differentiate between them. I also don't want to poke that hornet's nest more than it already has. Instead, I just want to offer one tiny idea to help mix up the resistances on the infested.

Give them a combination of flesh and infested flesh. Use the infested resistance as their armor equivalent. Vary the proportions, to point out that they're varying levels of mutated, and to have an interplay between what their effective resists are, like you do with the rest of the units.
