  1. Welcome.  I just built what is close to a minimal Dojo.  You'll need to build several 'useless' rooms before you can start adding the useful stuff like the Research labs.  This is my layout:

                          (empty)       Lab          Lab

                                ||               ||              ||

  2. My approach has been to unlock a planet, clear most of the nodes (often saving the Dark Sector ones for later), and farm the boss to get all of the Warframe parts he drops.  Rinse and repeat.  And do quests as they come up.  Play with as many frames and weapons as possible and find the ones you like.  I've now got the star chart cleared and have reached MR 12.  Feel free to PM me in-game if you'd like someone to run with, I'm often on in the evenings EDT.

  3. 1) Relax - it's a game, not life.

    2) You never said which planet you've made it to - did you get off of Earth and to Venus?

    3) The War Within is a quest that will take you a while to even unlock, think of it like a distant goal that will take many small steps to get to.  As was said above, start unlocking Planets.  Generally, Earth --> Venus --> Mercury, then back to Earth --> Mars --> Phobos --> (you get the idea).  You'll notice that each planet has a 'junction' to the next planet(s) with a list of requirements that need to be done.  Once you've done all the requirements (they'll be checked-off in the list), you can enter the junction and unlock the path to the next planet (after doing 'something' inside the junction (deliberately vague for spoiler reasons)).

    4) As was mentioned, http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/WARFRAME_Wiki is a very good resource.

    5) It can be a bit overwhelming at the start - there is a lot to do: clans, missions, void relics, crafting, weapons, mods, frames, etc, etc.  Just take it all in and enjoy the ride.  As you work through the game, things will start to make sense.  Don't think of this like a game you finish in a week.  Unless you really spend lots of time powering through, it will take a while to just clear the star chart.  The game just turned 4 years old, don't think you can finish all that content in a week.

    6) And maybe this might help:

  4. Maybe I don't get the question.  If we're talking about the MR11 test (going from MR 10 to MR 11), there are only 2 platforms that have 2 balls on them, the second and the last (10th??).  If all this is right, @polarity got it - there is a little platform just after this last one with 2 balls - just stand on the little platform and it's an elevator that will take you up to the next section of the test.  Ride the elevator up and shoot the balls as they appear.  Once you get close to the top you can bullet jump into the next section.

  5. As mentioned, warframe-builder is good.  Also this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/2t4fms/what_are_standard_or_essential_mods/

You probably already know this, but generally you'll want to mod for what the weapon is good at:

    • Damage increase and multishot are always there (e.g., Serration and Split-Chamber for rifles)
    • Crit weapons (my personal rule of thumb is if crit chance >= 25%, it's a crit weapon - e.g., Dread).  Max Point Strike & Vital Sense and use the 90% elemental damage mods and Hammer Shot.
    • Status weapons (again, my personal rule is both status chance >=20% and high fire rate).  Use the dual elemental-damage/status mods and Hammer Shot
    • Hybrid weapons (both crit and status chance are close the above - e.g., Grakata or Zhuge).  Use Point Strike and Vital Sense and the dual elemental-damage/status mods and Hammer Shot
    • Failing all of the above checks, the weapon is pure IPS damage (e.g., Karak), so use the 90% elemental mods, Heavy Caliber, and one of the IPS damage boosters if the weapon's damage come primarily from just one of the three IPS types.
    • Leftover slots would go to 'quality of life' mods (fire rate, recoil reduction, bane of XXX, etc.).

These are of course my own personal guidelines and I'm sure many will offer alternate opinions.

I will add that while the warframe-builder website is very good, I don't think it accounts for status procs.  For example, a viral proc will temporarily reduce the target's health to half and both impact and elec procs will stun enemies (preventing them from shooting back).  I've got a Grakata I've got setup for both crit and viral + elec procs.  And even though it's stats are underwhelming It does fine on most everything on the star chart.

And above all, find some weapons that are fun - I'll put in a plug for the Sonicor as I just love that thing.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  6. If you fail the mission you can re-run it.  I did this to farm Juggernauts for the Inaros quest - after I killed the Juggy I found the treasure room, started the timer, and let it expire (sometimes playing in the treasure room to figure it out).  But I'm not sure exactly when the mission is declared a success - when you get into the room with the treasure or when you pick it up or when you extract.

I probably could have just aborted the mission after killing the Juggy, but I never tried that.

  7. You never said which Mk-1 weapons you had, but I started with the bow.  When I got to the Corpus I realized that it was terrible against their shields.  So I bought the Strun shotgun from the Market (it's one of the few weapons you can buy with credits instead of Plat).  Rank it up and add some basic mods for increased damage and Cold and it will work well against the Corpus (love the rag-doll effect!).  One clip was enough to take out a Jackal's leg and still get in some damage against the body.  And lots of bullet jumping around the room using the pillars to avoid his weapons and the mine Ospreys.  Recent changes to the game should allow you to destroy the mines sitting on the ground by shooting them.

I solo'd him back when I had to get past him, so it's possible.  You just might need to take a little time to improve your gear.  Feel free to hit me up in-game if you'd like some help.

And, FWIW, I think the Jackal is one of the better designed bosses in the game - it's fairly easy to figure out what to do (as you've said) and the fight has a good pace to it.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  8. 5 hours ago, Atylia said:

Kind of a problem when you're running a high level mission solo

How so?  There are only a few mission types where you have to fight them: Exterminate, Defense, Interception (maybe) - I think that's all of them.  For the rest (e.g., Spy, Capture) you can just run away if you don't want to deal with them.

Personally, I solo Exterminate (gives me the time to smash all the containers, look for Cephalon fragments, etc.) while Defense and Interception are more fun with a team.  All you really need to do is pay attention to where the Control Consoles are.  When you set off the alarms, run back a few rooms and find a Console.  Personally, I like the ones in the little closets - throw up a defensive shield if you have it (Frost bubble, Mag shield, etc.) to block the doorway and hack the Console.  I was running Pluto just last night and this worked fine.

And yes, as others have said - stun them and shoot them in the back.  I use Frost's #1 and a Radiation Atomos - melts them quick.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  9. In answer to your second question about the need to change back to Rank 0 weapons & frames...  You don't need to do it all at once.  And there is a lot of grinding in this game, so you often go back into easier areas where the lower ranked gear is not a problem.  For example, at the moment I'm running around a certain planet with a rank 30 Titania frame looking for a certain challenge room that she'll be a good fit for (I'm being deliberately vague to avoid spoilers).  But I just Forma'd my main weapon so it's back to Rank 0.  I've also got a high rank melee weapon and a mid-rank secondary.  With this setup I can't just walk into a room and blast away - I need to think a bit about how to handle a room with 15 enemies.  And that makes it fun.

And you may not have figured this out yet (lot's of stuff to learn in this game), but you can mod a weapon/frame up to the max of *either* it's rank OR your Mastery Rank.  So if I'm MR10, I've got 10 points (or 20 if I have a 'potato' on it) of mods for new weapons and frames.

And yes, HAVE FUN.  There will always be meta weapons and frames, but you can clear most of the star chart with almost any frame and weapon - it's all about the mods.  Find some you like and lean on them.  Be willing to experiment.  Enjoy.

    Good Luck, Tenno.

  10. I've had this happen a few times.  Running a mission (any type, solo) and I scan a Fragment.  I get the animation where you see what Codex entry it will unlock and how many fragments I have left to scan for that entry.  So all is good.  Then I die (last night playing as Limbo on Neptune and got swarmed by three Corpus Techs - but that's not really relevant to this bug report).  Since I've had this happen before I tagged the Fragment so I could find my way back to it.  I went back to the Fragment and tried to re-scan it, but was told that my target had already been scanned.  And yet when the mission ended I din't get the Codex entry.

So, I lost the Fragment scan upon death and couldn't re-scan it.

Seems wrong to me.  I'd prefer not to lose the scan on a death, but if I did at least let me go back and re-scan it.

If it matters, I'm using the Simaris scanner with all three widgets equipped.  This has also happened with fewer widgets equipped and (I think) even with the normal Codex scanner.

  11. Yes, these guys are a royal pain.  And yes, I think they are a bit over-powered for where they are in the star chart.  I totally failed on them the first few times I tried them.  When I did finally get past them I got lucky and got into group that could take them down in just a few shots.  A little while ago I came back to farm them for Nova and started paying attention to the others in my group.  Several times I've gotten into group where someone has the Synoid Simulor and this weapon just seems to wreck them (but let's be honest, that's a Syndicate weapon and most players working through the star chart won't have access to it at this point in the game).

While farming them I was MR10, playing mostly Frost (a rather tanky frame so I could take some hits).  I'd gotten into a few groups with MR 6-10 buds and we'd had some fun fights - won a few and lost a few (lost as in we've run out of ammo and had to abort).  I was using a Vulkar that did about 1,200 magnetic damage / shot with a 50% critical chance and a 4x critical multiplier.  And even with that it takes me 6 or 8 shots and damage from all the others as well to bring each one down.  And with this setup the mission stats at the end had me doing over 50% of the damage  (and I NEVER do the majority of the damage).

    Some other thoughts:

    - Try to kill them close to the reactors (not too hard for the first 2, but when you get to the last one you don't want to have to carry the reactor all the way across the room)

    - Have someone wait under him when he's about to go down and quickly grab the reactor to get it into the chute.

    - You can leave the room and scrounge the level for more ammo (done that a few times)

So in short, get a hard hitting weapon and some friends.

Hit me up if you want, I might be online later tonight EST.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  12. T2 Spy missions: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Spy_2.0 .  You'll need to get all three Data Vaults (doesn't matter if you set off the alarms or not, just get the data).

Note that although the wiki says Ceres is T1, I've gotten the T2 rewards there (Ivara Chassis and Rime Rounds).  Rime Rounds has a small drop chance - it took me a good 20+ runs to get it.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  13. Bummer.  Maybe you had a bad tileset.  There was an alert on Mercury tonight that I did, and stumbled across the following:

    1) The "train" tile I mentioned

    2) And if you stand where the one shown above is, you can see this one:

    3) On the area you need to jump across:

    4) And just coming out of a pipe connecting 2 rooms:

  14. Yup, backing up @Ninja22678 - anywhere on Mercury should work.  I think I ran the Exterminate at M-Prime several times and the Infested exterminate as well.  Kept my scanner equipped and took pics of the enemies for my codex as well (used melee to kill the enemies).  Look on rocks - big flat rocks.   Jump up on the rocks on the far side of the "train cars" (that tile where it's like a bend on a train track) - usually find a few up there.  Under stairs as well.  The moss is usually on the ground, not on walls.  Looking through the scanner it looks like a few sheets of paper on top of each other.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  15. I'm probably an odd-ball here, but I'm having loads of fun with my Grakata at the moment.  Some might call it the Soma's little brother, but personally I don't like the spool-up time of the Soma.  I've got a potato on the Grakata and with some decent mods (Serration, Point Strike and Vital Sense) I get a good crit chance and multiplier.  And (although you likely don't have them yet) the dual element/status mods (60% XX damage & 40% status) work really well.  I've got it modded for Viral & electric and I was running around Uranus on a Survival mission last night with no problems (until the enemies started getting over level 50 and my damage output wasn't enough to keep up (I really need that Split Chamber..).

And if you want a FUN secondary, try the Sonicor - I just love rag-dolling enemies all over the map.

  17. I'd join/help you, but I'm on PS4.  So in short, get a hard hitting weapon and some friends.

    Good luck, Tenno.

  18. I'll echo AleDiorio above - you don't need to find all three in the same mission (the wording on the requirement could be improved a bit).  I originally thought I had to get all three on the same mission - got 2 on my first mission and got the 'tilde' symbol in the junction requirement indicating partial completion.  Did another mission and got the third and the requirement was satisfied.

Fwiw, check in the water in the dead-end rooms, I think I found 2 of them there.

  19. I will add that I got her chassis just the other day from Ceres (I was just playing with the spy missions - the outcome surprised me).  So that's probably the easiest mission to get the chassis.

I think the wiki says that on PC Ceres will give the Chassis, but on PS4 Ceres will give the Systems.  Maybe things got normalized with the latest update??

    And yes, I'm on PS4.

  20. I don't have any of the "best"mods (e.g. Split Chamber), but I've taken this setup into the exterminate at Narcissus on Neptune.  It works OK taking down a few enemies at a time, but it can't handle swarms of enemies.  As it's been said above, focus on the elemental builds - I've got an 11.4% status chance on this, and with the ammo this thing spits out I'm almost guaranteed to proc a viral status - which cuts the enemy health in half.  I also play solo a bunch, so the Hush is great to keep enemies from ganging up on me.

This setup could definitely be improved, but something like this should get you through Jupiter & Europa.

    qgFeemJ.jpg

If you're looking for more advice, my opinion is that:

    • enemy levels 1-15: focus on the raw damage for the enemy type (e.g., impact for Corpus & puncture for Grineer)
    • enemy levels 16-30: put a potato on your primary weapon(s) and focus on the right element (e.g., magnetic for Corpus, corrosive for (most) Grineer)
    • enemy levels 31+: work on crit and/or status.  Add Forma as required.

I'm only MR9 and I'm currently working on clearing Pluto, so I'm not done with the star chart nor have I tried the top level missions, so take my advice for what it's worth.

Oh, and have fun - try some weapons and see which ones make you smile when you use them.  Some days I love sniping w/my bows and some days I love rag-dolling enemies with my Sonicor.

  21. I've built and max-ranked Diriga, Shade, and am currently working on the DethCube (love the name!).  Personally, Diriga's sniper rifle is the best of the three.  It will often take out those annoying environmental things like arc-traps and sensor bars and can 1-shot most enemies up to about Ceres with a few points in the Calculated Shot precept.  Eventually, I want to try them all, so thanks for the tips @Cash201293.

  22. I too play mostly solo, and this last segment of the quest was a smack in the face for me as well.  Keeping myself alive was easy - keeping the pod alive was the hard part.  After a few tries both solo and with a few randoms in public matches, and never getting past the 4th round, I sat back and thought a bit.  I realized that the best warframe for this job is Frost, and his components drop from Lech Kril (whom I've already defeated once).  So I went back and farmed Kril for the Frost parts, built him, and ranked him up.  And with a max rank Frost I beat this battle solo.  (I also used one of the Specters that you're forced to build to open one of the previous junctions and one of the Ancient Specters gotten from hitting the first level on one of the Syndicates).

And, fwiw, my primary was a potatoed Braton setup for Mag damage - took just a few rounds to bring almost any enemy down.  So, it's do-able with the equipment you can acquire previous to this point in the game, just takes a bit of grinding and some strategy.

Bonus tip - if the pod is damaged at towards the end of a round and there are just a few enemies left, leave one enemy alive and let the pod recover before killing the last enemy (and keep your distance from it so your Sentinel doesn't "accidentally" shoot it (<face-palm>)).  If you're lucky you'll get a shield osprey just hanging around and they don't do any damage.

I play on PS4, else I'd be happy to lend a hand.
