Why, you ask? Because difficulty changes enormously depending on the knowledge/skill of the players: if you have advanced knowledge in the game, you know that "not alerted" always means "stealth", that covert lethality guarantees kills, that you must use invisibility and probably sleep, and so on.

sorry to sound like a prick, but its is not true in the case of warframe as it only applies to if the can see or shoot you or the actual meaning.

    1. alerted is not a synonym of stealth.(that one is realy pickish im sorry)

2.e.g. Loki goes inviz, Loki shoots someone in the middle of a crowd with a loud gun. every one within a range of, lets say 50m hears the noise and comes to check out noise (like the sound arrow ivra has). Loki then flees still in inviz to a safe place out of site to reapply inviz and does not alert anyone doing so.

Loki with hush invisibility augment on Eris, Adaro. You can fire your bazooka and enemies can’t see and hear you. Just beware when your timer is running out, need to find a spot where enemies can’t see you and recast 2.

just be awar that you dont need hush as they cant see where the noise came from but will still walk to it. but yeah.

To answer your topic, no, it's RNG. I guess the reason could be it is hard to define difficulty for a challenge, cause it can always be exploited in some way to make it easier.

For instance, the challenge you said can be done effortless with Ivara perma stealth + sleep arrow with Covert Lethality dagger on Grineer mission.

Well firstly I will say if you ever encounter this riven challenge again...just use Ivara. Sleep arrow plus Covert Lethality, easy mode.

Next, rivens are purely a game of chance. They always have been, there has never been a guarantee of a better weapon or better stats for a more challenging unlock, particularly since "challenging" is very subjective. With a little creativity I have found most riven challenges to require minimal effort, maybe a little luck but not much effort in the grand scheme of things. And as such I don't think there's any way to really judge the difficulty of a challenge fairly to factor that into the riven received, and it would probably just lead to a massive surge in sales of the rivens DE had flagged as "difficult" so people could try to get better rivens. Basically it would really confuse and hurt the market IMO and for no real purpose.

my hand just went so far through my face into the warframe universe it hit my operators face.

i did not even realise that ivra had that ability.

i used ash. with energy siphon and widdled my way through.

    thank you

edit: ivra ability turns off when you take a shot or slide. you move slower, fixed by rolling and sprint speed modifiers. can not reach high places via crouch jump and energy siphon doesn't recharged while using prowl. making you at risk when you run out of energy having to wait a quite while.

So you read "stealth kills" and thought of Shotguns while forgetting that Covert Lethality daggers insta-kill any enemy while you have stealth. Cool.

I mean, congrats for managing. It's an achievement. I think everyone on the forums will agree that the Riven is terrible.

To answer the questions you ask in the title - no, the outcome is random. The challenges are random. Why? Because DE decided they couldn't be bothered with an exact and tedious evaluation of random conditions and random Riven stats. Much easier for them.

one it did not say stealth kills, it just said without alerting a enemy. two to your point i could of done that, but... i did not make the connection between finishers and stealth kills ( i thought it was just ground kills) also melee stealth are slow and wasted time during the small period of stealth i had

  4. i have this rifle riven mod that has taken me a very long time to get. can someone ell me how good/pricey this is or if i missed something huge that makes this somehow even better.

the challenge's wording went something like this:

complete an exterminate mission with an enemy level 30 or higher without alerting a enemy and having an extinguished dragon key equipped. 0/1

now first of all, it couldn't be 29-31 for some god forsaken reason so i settled for a 32-36 corpus mission( the one in the void was around 190 kills needed this was around 100)

second is that the extinguished key made it impossible for me to one shoot anything (all the weapons i had that could where shotguns)

and third also worst of all, alerting an enemy was not them going to a terminal. IT WAS THEM SEEING YOU AT ALL. Back stabs with a wepon with 5000 wall strike damage wouldn't kill every thing. so if i did not kill them with the back stab, well...

with a huge feat of determination, careful planing and hours of time this is what was unveiled maxed out. drum roll please

I've done Rivers way better for less, they should really change this if this isn't that good so that there is more of a sense of achievement.

  5. I think i have an idea.

if you go into an archwing mission with a riven on a non- arkwing weapon you wont get the riven tas becaus you wont have it equipped during the mission.

so when you switch switched to razorwing mode the weapon with the riven would been unequipped.

the reason why  you would of only seen the task come back up after you left razorwing mode is because you re-equipped it by entering the normal mode.

Did you use your operator, or did you just use your five ability from your focus (your focus ultimate?). If you have not done the war within, you won't have able to do what people are suggesting.

The most important thing you can do: bring as many different damage types as possible.

If possible, bring a melee weapon with range to it as well, like a redeemer or a glaive, reason is because sentients are really dangerous at close range if you don't have great mods. Bring your tankiest frame.

Constantly switch between your weapons. Just try to bring, between the three weapons, almost all damage types you can. A couple different ones on primary, a couple others on secondary, melee, etc.

Stay at range, don't get in close.

thank you for the help. not quit what i ask for, but this helps
