What do you mean by "refine the resources"?
There's a forge at the rear of the ship were you can turn resources you pick up into stuff to use in mission, or refine them to keep once the mission's completed.

If I had to guess I would say the flashbacks took place quite late into the conflict with the Orokin, and a combination of attrition and their inability to create more primes meant most tenno would be using the knockoffs by that point.

It's cool to see how fancy the Grineer's gear was back then. Not as clean as the corrupted, but you can definitely see the Orokin influence.

Just done a couple of anomaly runs since the update and both times it kept telling us to investigate the anomaly after we had cleared it out. Had to abort both times to leave.
