  1. If you do a search, someone around here has posted a launcher that fixes a problem with getting it to properly launch.  I can't remember who or where, but you should be able to find it with some looking.

Also, in case you haven't seen it, you can check status of games for Proton here: https://www.protondb.com/

There are also Firefox and Chrome plugins that will work with Steam to show you compatibility.  Hopefully someone could get it working.

  2. I'm kinda disappointed that she doesn't somehow interact with all the blood spattered on the walls and floor from mutilated enemies. It'd probably be a *@##$ to implement, but I thought they might try and go in that direction. That would have been something new and different. As she stands now...*shrug* boring.

May I politely ask if this info came from DE, and if it did, would you point me/us in the right direction as to where we can see or hear it for ourselves?

It was in the last dev stream, 117 I think? At the end of it Reb mentions the frames that they're considering for reworks. But it's worse than "bottom of the list". She mentions several frames and then says that at the bottom of the list is Vauban. Chroma isn't even mentioned at all. Their FB page said that they're "aware of a desire for a Chroma rework" which means basically nothing.

  4. Someone suggested this a bit ago and after some thought I think it's spot on: I think the fix for Spectral Scream is rather simple: more ticks per second. That'd bump up the DPS and status chances to acceptable levels. One tick per second is much too slow for the pace of the game.  Perhaps a change in the equation for calculating range would be warranted, too.

Personally, I'd like to see different delivery types (beam vs. cone etc.) for the different elements as well, but that's another fish to fry.

  5. I know this is all about Chroma Vs. Rhino and all, but what happens when Chroma and Rhino team up in the Annual Crossover Edition with Gold Foil Glow In The Dark Variant Cover! That's going to be epic.

Also: Who would win in a fight between Chroma and Superman? That's the real question here.

  6. How to make Chroma fun:

Go to E-prime.* Laugh as bullets bounce off of your macho armor (no need for Vex, just laugh Dragon, laugh). Use Spectral Scream to burninate the villagers. Hit Elemental ward to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.

    It's fun. Try it.

*Results may vary at locations other than E-prime. Laughter not guaranteed for enemy levels above 3.

  7. Unfortunately, you're screaming into the Void here, man. DE has their fingers in their ears and are yelling: Lalalalalalalala I can't hear you lalalalalalala.

Listen to the end of the Dev Stream -- Titania, Wukong, Nyx are top of the list with.... Vaubad at the bottom. Chroma didn't even make the bottom of the list.  It's deplorable.

The casket is closed, the dirt is being poured. He's done. Any more threads on his rework will be met with more silence. I think we've all got better things to do at this point.

  8. Does anyone know if Chroma Prime's breath weapon(s) got a visual touch up (Spectral Scream and Effigy) along with the wings? I'm so disheartened with the lack of changes that I'd settle for even that at this point... 😞

Looked at the direct comment. To me, it reads as yeah we don't have anything right now, but we'll take a look at it once we get more urgent projects out of the way.

I hope you're right. It'd be nice if DE would make a definitive statement about it one way or the other considering the Prime release. Either way, I'll farm him in the meantime just in case.

  10. The way I see it, bottom line, is Chroma just isn't fun to play. Is he effective or not misses the point. IMO that's all semantic bs. He is a drag to play: Hit 3 immediately, hit 2 immediately, try to manage your damage so you get Vex maxed, watch the duration on Vex, renew Vex whenever it gets too low, try to not get knocked down in that time, find/manufacture energy, notice when 2 runs out, smash 2 again, never ever ever hit 1 or 4. Continue this through to the end of a mission. Boring and tedious.

Sad thing is, like Revenant, the boards are full of really good suggestions to make him not only effective, but fun as well. And fun is the whole point.

Thanks I really appreciate the support 🙂

Just to toss idea's around, and get some hypothetical's fleshed out, what would your ideal base status chance be for his first ability? I'd like to start the process of getting a good consensus on the issue.

I would think that the sustained breath weapon and the persistent patches would be inverses of each other. For the breath weapon I don't see anything wrong with a base status chance on par with say the Ignis Wraith -- around 30% - 35% (able to be increased with ability strength mods). I mean we're talking dragon fire (ice, toxin, etc.) here. The persistent damage areas should have a very high status chance, but perhaps a much lower damage than the direct fire. This would allow for the denial of area side effect -- and it would be cool AF!  Patches of glowing burning (or other effect) areas that persist on columns and such would be awesome.  Powers should be satisfying to use and sometimes that is purely cosmetic in nature.

Hey everybody, I know DE will likely take awhile to update Chroma to a playable state, but I figured that since his prime is right around the corner I might as well post my thoughts on fixing my most played frame. I'll try to keep the majority concise with details listed in "spoiler bubbles" for those of you wanting more in depth analysis. Without further ado let's get started!

    PASSIVE:

    • Remove current restrictive passive and replace it with a triple jump (using effigy's wings).
    • On third jump, Chroma receives a substantial aim-glide boost.
      Reveal hidden contents

We can all agree that Chroma's current passive, ISN'T (or at least shouldn't be considered) A PASSIVE! It is SO restrictive, not only in a game-play sense, but more importantly it nerfs Chroma's true end-game potential: his fashion. I believe that a unique solution to this would be giving him something that makes Chroma feel much more dragon-like (via a tripple jump). Sure I've seen plenty of damage boosting passive suggestions and things that relate to elemental ward, but in my opinion, Chroma doesn't need more damage, he needs something that sets him apart, something fun. My proposed changes to Spectral Scream will play a part in making this more than just a gimmick but I'll go more into detail about that further down.

    SPECTRAL SCREAM:

    • Damage Buff (it's current damage is negligible).
    • Now draws aggro in a fixed 15m range.
    • Allow's weapon use (at least melee).
    • While aim-gliding, Spectral Scream costs half as much per second and will always reach ground level.
    • When Spectral Scream makes contact with the floor it leaves an elemental trail (similar to Nezha's firewalker) based off duration. Trail deals damage per/sec equivalent to Spectral Scream and possesses status chance.

I really like this passive. It would be tons of fun to use. And would make some of the Aim Glide mods useful.

I also love the idea of leaving patches of Status/Damage everywhere Spectral Scream is pointed at (even if not aim-gliding). This gives Chroma a nice denial of zone tactic that he can pull out in various scenarios. And, again, would be a blast to use. I would agree that the damage needs a massive damage and/or status boost.

    Good work.

passive Dragon's Horde, armor buff depending on credit pickups, more credits you get as you play the higher your buff goes, could be fun and works off the idea in lore that dragons horde gold and valuables in their lairs

I don't know why, but I love this idea! Not sure how it'd hold up in some scenarios (plains, index, etc.), but I love it! 🙂

  14. I don't play Nezha all that much cuz he's...I dunno...lame? So, with the rework I yanked him out of cold storage and tooled around with him.

I gotta say that changing an existing power to something that just drops healing orbs seems lazy af to me. Remove a whole mechanic and slap in an everyday, boring one is pretty lackluster. #Fail.

Nezha -- back in the fridge with you!

  15. Here are my two ducats, before this thread gets to 100 pages.

I've read the entire thread and I agree a lot with what's going on.  Most people are unhappy with the frame and DE must realize this means something and hopefully will have a second look at his abilities.

The Good: I really like the look and the flame effects on the frame. They're fun to fashion frame and take color well. His armor, while detailed is a little derivative -- he looks like Nidus and Chroma had a love child. But it's good. Sounds: I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but the sounds of his powers are really cool. The callbacks to the eidolons are enjoyable and surprising. They're not redundant (in that they don't exactly repeat upon repeated casts) and they're sometimes subtle. I'm sure there are those out there that are sick of the sound, but for some reason I like hearing them. Also, the sound around the DM is super cool. It sells the power for me. Applause to the sound team!

Passive: Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I think I'm most annoyed about how utterly unimaginative it is. It's boring. But, most passives are *sigh*. Literally could have been anything else, but it just fails.  Up that range through the roof and maybe we'd have something.

Thralls: Not much to add here. The community has nailed this one and their suggestions are solid. Take their advice DE. I would add that the pillars of fire should periodically emit homing projectiles like the Vomvalysts emit. It would help with ranged mobs and would be yet another layer of cool. Also, up the radius. I like the thought that dead thralls do something else, but the radius makes using this power more painful than it should be.

Mesmer Skin: Same as above. I would echo, however, that sometimes it's a pain to spot who has been stunned, either because of distance or because of numerous mobs running around. Could you wreathe a stunned mob in sentient energy similar to Rev's arm? It would make them stand out for easier targeting and would add a cool effect to boot.

Reave: Personally, I'm not too happy about this one. I despise Hydroid's Tidal Surge because it's utterly useless and uncontrollable and deeply angering that with frames only having 4 powers one was wasted. This doesn't do much better. It's an uncontrollable dash -- I find myself constantly scanning for straightaways to use this thing on, instead of just feeling secure that it's there and ready when I need it. On top of that, the "heal" and "replenish" are pitiful. I hardly notice them and use the power solely out of personal stubbornness than actual utility. I think the suggestion of having Rev become a cloud of sentient energy that drains has he wishes is a good one. It would be more creepy, would bring some better playability to the frame, and would be a whole lot more fun. Either way, up the drain ratio -- this thing should be killing mobs like the chumps they are.

Dance Macabre: I thought I'd hate a twirling 17th century fop. But I don't. I like the look of it. Overshields though? If Rev is going to be something (other than master of a horde -- which he barely is), he should be an overshields BEAST. Make those overshields actually count for something. They're a) temporary (extremely temporary) and b) shields -- which people have pointed out are pretty weak in this game. Those drops should make him a monster -- 5K - 10k max overshields wouldn't be a stretch (Inaros' EHP is through the roof). The community has given some good advice for the rest of this one, so nothing to add.

Make him good, DE. The community has some great ideas. Listen and implement.
