  1. For an ice age, hundreds of thousands of years. Could be more or less depending on what the grineer have done to the planet.

The geologic time scale is incomprehensibly vast, even after all that time the continents wouldn't have visibly changed

Edit: what do you mean by "rotations are for ice ages or whatever"?

For an ice age to cover canada it could happen in a few thousand years (ignoring the principle that the Orokin were capable of changing climates on a planetary scale) because all that is needed is some ice cover, not necessarily kilometers of ice. The entirety of the last ice aqe was just under 100,000 years and it only took about 20k years for the ice to drop from its peak level to the end of the ice age.

Over a couple of thousand years the geographic differences would be noticeable as plates would have moved a few tens of  metres, but the difference would not be visible from space.

  2. I'm so happy this game mode is completely broken. At least now DE is gonna HAVE to do something about PvP balance in this game.

Fortunately they DON'T have to do anything, and I hope they won't. Warframe is, and always should be, a PVE centred game.

  3. It does not get said enough on the forums. Warframe is an awesome game.

While I don't completely agree with every single thing that DE have done I can see valid reasons for DE to do them and the overwhelming majority of changes have been positive ones.

  4. Still, I'm only curious to find out if they're created at the same time or if the PC version is created first and the Ps4 version just a conversion.

The question is meaningless as Warframe is an ongoing development, the teams will be working continuously, in some cases the PS4 team will need to wait until the PC version of some of the code is completed (e.g.. Melee 2.0 as it would be silly to try and code it from scratch twice) and tested but in other cases they will be able to work on things without needing the PC code to be finished (e.g. Bug fixes or elements that are specific to the PS4 version of the game engine)..

  5. 1. Too many "utility" and weak mods that no one bothers to use as they would be too much of a trade-off

    2. With melee 2.0 almost all melee weapons share the same build...the exception being the few weapons that have a viable crit chance.

    3. Across ALL weapon types AND on Warframes there is now a big selection of mods that could really help making frames a bit different from eachother...but are heavily underutilized because of aforementioned problems...the trade-off is too huge.

    1. Useless to you, not to everyone.

    2. Not everyone agrees with the "max the damage" approach, its not like you need that for 90% of what you do.

    3. An extra slot or three will make no difference, if we had 20 slots there would still be the "optimum build" that the min-maxers use.

So no, we don't need more slots. In fact it would lead to less variety as everyone could fit the same basic "best" ones and then add a couple for "flavour".

  6. Are you talking about vay hek, the idiot you need to grind 26 herbs and spices for and an hour to make the key and run and kill? Yah, sure thing on the 'no' grind (sarcasm, in case you need help).

Where did I say there was no grind? What I said was the Hydriod BPs drops come with Argon Crystals so you have them when you need them so getting Hydroid is casual-friendly when it comes to the crystals. "Grinding" for Vay Hek is also suited for a casual play style, just do the missions when you want to.

Casual play does not mean you don't grind, it means you don't play that much per session or per week. I put in an hour or 2 max in a session and don't play every day, I got my Hydroid started building on Friday.

  7. Why do argon crystals undergo radioactive decay?

Argon isn't even radioactive, for the most part.

In any case, radioactive decay generally leaves something behind.

Maybe each "decayed" argon crystal should leave behind a depleted crystal, three to five of which can be crafted into a normal argon crystal.

That way, focused farming is still preferable, but slow progression becomes feasible.

There are 24 known isotopes of Argon, only 3 are stable.

What may be left behind is fairly irrelevant, once Argon has decayed then what is left is another element which would certainly change the physical and chemical properties of the crystal.

  8. I tottally agree with the OP, even tho I have no specific desire to want Hydroid or the katana I can definetly relate to the frustration you must feel being forced to "grind" or "farm" as in this case when you actually got a time limit.

Vay Hek drops Argon Crystals, so when you get one of the Hydroid Bps that needs a crystal you should have it ready. Hydroid is definitely farmable form a casual player. From 3 Vay Hek runs I had enough crystals to build the Hydroid Helmet and Chassis, a Nikana and have 2 left over.

Where did they show us the decay time?

I got 1 yesterday crafted for research, and I see no time anywhere.

Go to your foundry, the time shows in the Components list on the righthand side.

OP brings up a valid point. There are people who just can't put in the time to 'farm' or 'grind' as you put it because they are playing a game for fun.

No, he doesn't really. The number needed is low enough that a 1 hour session in the void should get you enough crystals to build 1 item, that does fall under the definition of casual-friendly.

  9. I know but delay everything for a whole week when some of it is ready makes little sense to me.

Because code is not individual items any more, it is all linked together so that "just" releasing one part of a planned update means putting together a whole new release (if that is possible as you can end up with incompatible versions of code when you try and do that) and then testing the build all over again.

  10. Yea and look what a sad state europe is in.  It used to house the world's most powerful countries.  Now Asian countries with free market economies such as korea, japan and even China (which can be seen as having more economical freedom than the US) have filled that void while you europeans committed suicide with socialism.  Where's socialist sweden in the GDP scale?  Right.  #22.

#22 is good going for a country of less than 10 million. Its per capita GDP placing is 7th which, funnily enough, places it higher than the USA.

Heck even the UK manages to get to number 7 on the total GDP rankings and we have free healthcare, social benefits etc. In fact the top 20 of the per capita GDP rankings are nicely filled with "socialist" European countries (China, Korea and Japan are not in the top 20 when it comes to per capita GDP)..

  11. Yes they are.

The game is trying to make you realize that you're just following orders and that freedom in a capitalist society is only an illusion.  The only true freedom is in Grineer domination.

No, they aren't. If the Grineer are close to any current definition it would be a Fascist Ethnocracy. they are absolutely nowhere close to being communists.

The Corpus are not free market, they are a mix of a Theocracy and a Corporatocracy.

  12.

Brimir's post taken from a different thread because I feel it applies here.

I apologize, Bri, for my ignorance and arrogance... Looking back and everything, I've been wobbling between a few different ideas myself seemingly JUST for the case of argument... Now I feel like an A******, and I apologize for being an A******. I think there is still a possibility that the genetic material has been damaged as time progressed for one reason or another, but malfunctioning technology is very much a root cause of it.

No worries. And kudos for apologising.

In science news today its just been announced that the first truly artificial chromosome has been inserted into yeast cells, a technique that could allow bio-engineering of yeast to produce a variety of new substances such as medicines.

  13. Sorry but unless your refunding all my money, your not taking away my stats on my helms because i literally only bought the ugly things for the stats. thanks. Its like buying a car from a dealership and two months later them saying ok were taking back the engine of the car. you know what you would do in that situation not sit there, but probably try to kill them. THANKS I wish to not hear about this taking away of stats due to cry's of new people sorry I paid for it and you werent here for that, not my fault.

    1. They aren't taking any stats away, existing helmets will keep their stats.

    2. A lot of people asking for the change were doing so because they liked the look of a helmet but NOT its stat effects (I am one of those, in most cases I would prefer just to equip a helmet as a cosmetic as I don't like the stat changes that go with it).

  14. *raises eyebrow skeptically*

    Source?

But if this is true: GO SCIENCE! And, as I said: I'll have been proven wrong and retract my statements and apologize to you, Bri.

Venter and his team used the genome of an existing bacteria as a template but the genome was built from scratch rather than cloned. So cloning from a template is basically what they did and a new species is now technically possible as well.

  15. Without knowing ANYTHING ELSE. Yes, I can. It's a logical assumption, just as I can assume future trees will grow the same way in the future as they do today.

No, you can't and its not. Considering that science has only just reached the point where we can now make DNA from scratch and insert it into a cell to make a brand new species it is obvious that there could be a lot more advances in cloning technology to come.

If DNA can be manufactured from scratch then degradation would not be an issue. The degradation seems to come from the Grineer trying to improve the cloning process without fully understanding the science behind it.

  16. Pretty much all technology (Grineer and Corpus alike) is reverse-engineered from ancient Orokin technology. This most likely includes Grineer cloning technology (and is why the clones are getting worse and worse each generation; the Grineer don't fully understand how it works in order to repair the problem).

I  agree that this is a far more likely explanation. My thoughts are:

The Grineer were originally soldiers for the Orokin in the war against the Sentients (but were not up to the task).

The Corpus were originally the technicians and engineers who worked for the Orokin in the more mundane areas.

Neither group knew much about the science behind Orokin tech other than how to use it on a day to day basis. After the Collapse both groups started trying to understand how to make the technology they had been using, but without the Orokin it would be a long and difficult process. Taking many centuries to advance to the point where they are now does not seem unreasonable and it would also explain why the Grineer seem to be more recent players in the Solar System domination game, if they were relying on using Orokin cloning tech without being able to build new facilities it would have limited their numbers until they got past that tech barrier.

  17. Right so just browsing through forums and read someones post..

He asked. "Why does there need to be balance in a pve game? "

Which I find quite understandable seen as I don't see a point?

The point is that anything that is unbalanced affects the metagame. If there is a clear best weapon then people will demand it be used in the harder missions (such as T3 Void), same for frames. That means that people do not get to use items that they enjoy, that is bad for a game.

Boo freakin hoo if someone is dealing more damage than you, instead of trying to nerf it and ruin it for them. Get a better weapon/upgrade your mods/make a better build.

    See what I mean?
