  1. Considering the truth about the Lotus was exposed in the quest prior, I don't think it's much of a stretch that some Tenno could empathize with the Stalker's anger while feeling exploited by the Lotus. The Stalker is upset because he feels the Tenno committed a sin for which they were not punished. So yeah, always figured the acolytes were simply Tenno who became disillusioned with the Lotus and her lies.

  2. 20 hours ago, Heatnix. said:

What's inside? Well since DE decided to make lore and gameplay one and the same... inside a Warframe there's (ember as an example)

Plastids. Infested flesh fused with all kinds of alloys and neural sensors for the eyes.

That's it. No person, no brain, no consciousness.

Twice during Second Dream your Warframe acts despite your being incapacitated. Plus there's Rhinos codex entry. So I definitely wouldn't rule out a consciousness - albeit a very savage/primitive one.

  3. Warframes were once conscious, albeit savage beings. There was also a time when 'Tenno' was used to describe those who wore suits crafted from the Technocyte virus, as it's been confirmed that Hayden from Dark Sector was "the first Tenno". At some point the term was adopted to refer to the children from the Zariman exclusively. Remember Chroma? How when scanned, he counts as an Infested enemy? This is because the same virus that creates the Infested was used to create Warframes. Warframes were initially intended as weapons against the sentients, but they were completely unmanageable due to the fact they were so vicious. It was by accident that they discovered that being around the children from the Zariman calmed them down. That's essentially what Rhino's codex explains. However, the Orokin didn't kill the Warframes. I don't think so, anyways. They used transference to allow the Tenno to control the Frames, but during Second Dream your Warframe acts all on it's own with no input from it's Operator in order to destroy War. "Second Dream" is a bit of a double entendre; it refers to the fact the Tenno were living through the Frames via a dream, but also the fact that just like the Operator, the Warframe was sleeping. That's how I took it, anyways, since two minds to one body would be way too much to handle at once. I wouldn't call them soulless, but they have the same kind of savagery as every infested creature.

So a few Tenno were just people in suits. This is likely Mirage, Limbo, etc. Rhino may very well have been the first attempt at a self-sufficient frame, due to it being his codex entry where the warframes as separate conscious beings is mentioned. Stalker was a lower guardian, but he was immune to whatever the Lotus was doing. He may have been a Tenno in a suit, but I doubt he is an independent frame (due to his shared belief that warframes are just metal puppets) or even an Operator due to his willingness to destroy the Repository. He hates himself, but I don't know if he'd destroy himself. I think Hunhow mentions how the Stalker is wondering if he once looked like the Operators, too; so he may have even been a child from Zariman or just an Orokin. Honestly there are so many theories you can throw around on it, but I'm just going to play it safe and say he's sort of like us.

  4. I never really saw the Operators as pre-pubescent; afterall the male voices are all fairly deep and they speak of the Orokin spending a lot of time trying to help them before transference were developed and the Tenno were put into cryosleep. The Operators strike me as being young teens, whereas the Lotus and even the Operators refer to being children when they went into the Void and were changed. So I think it's reasonable to assume that at least a year or two passed by before the children from the Zariman were iced. That said, you have to remember that eventually, the term Tenno and Warframe were used rather interchangeably. They likely developed a culture through their warframe proxies. The Tenno are less unaging and more frozen in time. Since they are now conscious, there stands a chance that they might age - or that whatever chair and all the S#&$ connecting to it could merely be preventing them from aging. Or they could truly be "unaging," due to their Void exposure. It really is hard to say at this point.

As for why, the reasoning is twofold: One, for an androgynous body type before the reveal and Two, for Lotus' motherly instincts to have made sense. I was always a little confused about the Natah reveal. Lotus was willing to decimate an entire species but drew the line at the Tenno? The Tenno being sleeping children, arguably innocent in their actions due to the proxies that had been forced upon them, was clearly where Lotus drew the line and her desire to be a mother outweighed whatever sentient loyalty she had.

There are still some heavy indicators that the Warframes aren't the soulless hunks of metal that Hunhow thought them to be. Rhino Primes Codex, your frame breaking War as you're getting choked out, etc. So you're not exclusively some goofy kid inside the Liset.

  5. I still don't know what they are?

Initially, the alternate-helmets all had subtle stat changes to each Warframe when equipped. This was both good and bad, as some helmets were never used because the stats were ill-fitted for any viable builds on that frame, while others were used almost exclusively. DE eventually rolled out with an update/announcement that all future helmets would be cosmetic only. So all helmets that existed before this update were marked as 'Arcane' and were allowed to keep the stat-changes, while all future helmet drops, crafts and purchases were only cosmetic. There is a finite number of Arcane helmets, which is why some people get so butt blasted over the idea of people converting them to purely aesthetic items.

  6. But here's the thing: There really isn't a body in the frames...the frames ARE the body.

We're just the "essence" inside the suit...The lifeforce that moves an already living thing we inhabit.

That is why you can switch between male and female frames with ease.....

Why would you make frames of all body types? You wouldn't.

You would build the suits to be the pinnacle of your tech, and only for the best specimens to inhabit.

No. As little as we know about the Tenno, that is certainly one of the things we KNOW to be false.

Ember's codex entry refers to her and other Tenno once appearing as normal children. We know that the frames are conduits for the Tenno's power, but are themselves a second skin/armor. Lech Kril refers to the Tenno as having a fleshy body beneath their frames and the Tenno squirt blood when injured in different ways. Being deprived of oxygen also weakens the Tenno severely, something that would have no effect on some "essence" inside the frame. DE originally planned to have two versions of each frame, one for each gender; but this was scrapped very early on. However, this once intended feature is probably why the switching between male and female frames for one Tenno is such a lore loophole. The fact is, there probably is no reason why you can go from playing Rhino to Ember in terms of lore. It's just a meta thing that would be tedious to try and explain. I just wish DE would come out and say it so all these "the tenno are energy!" theories could be put to rest.

  7. Did an hour and a half run, at which point everyone was getting horrible FPS because of Vortex and Trinity's Bless was only working every second or third click. The rewards were also pretty meh and fighting Mutalist Alad was way more fun than dealing with the "event" part of the actual update.

So yeah, I disagree. It was way too buggy. Warframe has seen some great events but this was not one of them.

  8. He kind of does, to be honest.

For one thing, he does announce that he has quite a few Warframes in his hands, then said that he had her in his hands.

And as for the Infested Mesa argument, be reminded that in the Mutalist Alad V Assassination, he can throw his collar to mind-control Tenno, and that collar is the same collar as the one Infested Mesa is wearing. Since we know by default that our Warframes have Tenno in it, that means the Lotus might be withholding information, or simply did not know about the collar.

The collar only hijacks motor functions and is quite easy to take off. Mutalist Mesa acts nothing like an actual Mesa, and what reason would the Lotus have to withhold such information? Or rather, why would she have any reason to blatantly lie about the Warframe? She's clearly linked in some way to our frames, so I'm pretty sure she could tell whether or not a Tenno was beneath it or not, even if simply by behavior.

Are we really at the point where we're suggesting Lotus conspiracy theories to support some random observation?

And again, Alad V's flaunting has always been about power. Mutalist Alad only ever refers to having one singular Warframe in his possession throughout Patient Zero.

  9. It does affect me personally. It makes my choice feel less significant because i can simply trade for whatever weapon.

I loose that sense of choice. Its not about what other people do. Yes, i can and probably will restrict myself from buying other weapons, it doesn't change the fact that my decision doesn't feel like my of a touch choice.

I know that if they werent tradeable people would be having breakdowns though, so i understand why they did it.

So you're admitting that the only thing it effects is your feelings. If you really feel that your choice has lost all significance, then simply refrain from making the effort and buy the weapons instead. Or don't - it makes no difference either way. Removing the option to trade the weapons - something that would actually have a detrimental effect on people's ability to raise their mastery ranks and fill out their codex's because "I don't feel as accomplished when they just bought what I worked for," is ridiculous. Simply abstain; as vocal as the buyers and sellers in trade chat are they are a VAST minority of the Warframe community. Most players will in fact work for their syndicate items. Even the items being sold and bought were worked for by somebody.

  10. But he flaunts them around like it is his playtoys. I think that would show part of his personality and likings. You do not see that with Excalibur: He just gets cut up. Simple, and short.

And I said he has a good liking towards female Warframes, not only going after them. 'Good liking' means he has a preference, which, by extension, means that I acknowledge the fact he also captures male Warframes for experiment.

He doesn't flaunt Valkyr at all, though. Valkyr was a product of the Zanuka experiments, but he isn't really flaunting her. He's far more protective and smug over Zanuka and the Harvester, which he sees as the fruits of his genius. As for Mesa, his behavior is easily explained by the fact he's becoming more desperate and unhinged due to the infestation and the fact the Tenno are time and time again resisting him. The Infested hivemind is making him believe that the virus is a beautiful thing to be shared with the world. It's feeding off his lust for power. Not to get any further off point, Alad's excitement over the Mutalist Mesa is, just as he says, for the sake of flaunting the power he can offer the Tenno. He's trying to entice you not with the femininity of the frame, but with the modifications he has made to ramp up it's power. It should also be noted that Mutalist Mesa is not a Tenno at all anymore - the Lotus states it is little more than a commandeered Warframe being piloted by the Infestation.

There is not substantial evidence to support this claim that he has a liking for female Warframes. Most of his dialog paints Alad as seeing the Tenno as ancient monsters to be steered, or forced, into his favor. If we're really going to talk about any sexual based preferences, I don't think Alad would be leaning towards something he barely regards as sapient.

  11. That is still three female Warframes to one male Warframe.

And by the way he interacts with the Mag in contrast to the Excalibur, it should start to say something about him.

I think that changes from mission to mission. Some missions target more on Valkyr, some missions target more on Ember, for instance.

Or it simply would be just the percentage of damage dealt over the mission that determines who gets more mind-controlled.

But he doesn't get to do anything to Mag, and while he strokes her visor a bit, he's still blatantly talking about how he's planning to kill her for the sake of profit. Alad V has killed tons of Tenno for their Warframes; easily too many to count. So I don't think Excalibur and Mag should count beyond showing the fact that he doesn't capture female Tenno exclusively.

With a sample size as small as 2, you can't really make the claim that he only goes after female frames for his experiments. Valkyr is the most physically endurant of the frames while Mesa was an act of desperation as he lacked most of his usual resources.

  12. You mean three: Mag, Valkyr, Mesa.

That is quite a good piece of evidence that he has something for female Warframes.

He wasn't experimenting on Mag, though; he was going to cut her apart for Zanuka. He also did the same to Excalibur so he's not exclusionary. Why he chose to experiment on Valkyr is a bit of a mystery; but it could have been simple coincidence or, given her armor rating, her tolerance for pain and resistance to whatever experiments and chemical tomfoolery she was put through. Mesa is a bit more understandable - she can be explained as an experiment of opportunity. All the other warframes were ignoring his offer of a "glorious Mutalist empire," so the moment he caught a warframe he began to turn her to his cause by force.

Funny thing is, whenever I did Mutalsit Alad's boss fight, almost every time he mind-controlled my Rhino more than anyone.

  13. Nope.

The beta contract is still up on the launcher. Until that's gone, the game is in beta.

Plus, if you honestly think this game is in a complete state then I'm not sure we're playing the same game.

Wrong. Once a game begins charging with microtransactions, it can no longer claim to be in Beta or Alpha. Warframe is being continuously developed for, but it lost the Beta excuse when they began accepting real world currency.

  14. The Orokin probably did not create the Technocyte virus, especially if we're working off of Dark Sector lore here. However they definitely utilized it for different purposes, such as the creation of Lephantis and the Tenno. So the technicality that they didn't create the virus or infested is sort of moot.

Also to go back to the OP, life force does not necessarily equate to a soul. Though I think the concept of whatever each individual infested might have been being trapped inside that monstrous husk is a kind of tragic, horrifying twist on the Infested as a whole. Hell, you kind of see it with Mutalist Alad V.
