Never sell anything. After the first couple of times they added a new weapon that required an old one to build, it became apparent to me that they weren't going to stop doing that. How annoyed are you sellers going to be when it turns out you need an o.g. frame to build an Umbra version?

Holy crap, now I'm paranoid. I'm not selling another frame until I see what umbra needs, just in case.

I am almost sure that you will quit this game after a few months, most a year and your Focus 2.0 will be completed around 10% :)

I don't get it. Why would you be happy about a game driving away parts of its audience, the lifeblood of the company. I am not asking for a huge deal here, merely options or a compromise for people who do not like the new direction. It wouldn't be anything off the plate of current fans of the system/character, simply a different flavor for others which would lead to more profit = more warframe and faster.

Just because I disagree with you (apparently) doesn't mean I shouldn't play my favorite games or shouldn't try to voice an opinion. I'll prolly be playing warframe for a long while still, I just want the devs to hear my opinions as well, so that there is at least a chance they could take it into account in the future.

I don't know why people keep complaining like kuva and eidolon's are half the darn gameplay.

Doubtful the TWO instances where they're mandatory are going to change, as it's obvious these complaints are hyperbolic.

For me those two instances are not insurmountable, but it is still a big part of the endgame and after hundreds of hours that endgame is a big part of the content I'll play. I'm not stoked, but I don't enjoy it either. Focus is a too grindy, so that's an extra reason for people to dislike em, as they are tied to eachother. Also for some there are undoubtedly non-gameplay reasons contributing to their dislike.

For me, the growing focus on operators as characters, is the part that cheeses my onions. The operators as they currently exist don't interest me at all and that kinda kills all the buzz from the new lore/quest stuff. And all the buildup leaves me thinking that there's going to be more operator stuff to come. I'd really like to like em, but can't. I feel they are stealing the limelight from warframes, the title characters. I came for warframes and their lore, but instead I have to settle for wonder kids. I really dislike the trope they are going for here.

I can't speak for others but for me, I'd like for endgame content to allow for me to play as the characters I like, not make me play as a character I dislike. And the direction of the game is "More operators" as far as I can see, at least regarding the main quest. So that means in all likeliness that there is going to be more than the mentioned 2 endgame + current quest scenarios. On my part its less hyperbole, and more trying to give feedback early on, before there is a potential bigger issue.

However it'd be awesome to end up with operators that are cool and fun to play for me as well, but that'd include big changes, so making em optional would be easier.

How in the world was this worthy of years of Dev time? Who thought players would enjoy changing to weak, fragile, slow, clunky, poorly written mass murdering CHILDREN in Warframe?

I agree. If most everyone came to warframe for the badass ninja organic cyborg thingies aka the title characters, then how did they think we'd like kids in their stead? And my personal pet peeve is that they are forced player avatars as well, with forced inverse powertrip gameplay. It's like fans of the Uncharted series got Nathan replaced by Bob, who's 7 and who really likes old stuff and thus fulfills his innermost desires digging around his granny's attic. And also Bob really, really likes scorching ants under the magnifying glass!

Not all that exciting, and maybe I'm getting a bit salty here, dunno.

  5. If the operators are here to stay and if they keep shoving them at us forcibly, they should make em actually fun to play and as the player avatar, be more customisable, so I don't resent seeing the kid onscreen. Personally, I'd like it just fine if they allowed us to be a faceless adult syndicate model if nothing else. What I'd prefer was to be able to make my avatar somewhat more relatable to me, if not even cool. I don't relate to super kids, I dislike the trope.

A non-sexed up adult operator would be cool for starters, and then add nice cosmetics, like augmented limbs, armor, existing warframe bits (for matching clothes yaaay) or whatever else fits the style of the game. Reason for me moaning about the visuals is that if something is ugly or not cool, I am going to be biased against it, even if it plays like a dream. I don't think generally kid characters can hold a candle to a well designed adult character, like a warframe.

I think if they want to push operator gameplay more, they should just make the operator into another warframe for you to pick. Albeit with more custom visuals than your typical warframe and a face of your choosing.

  6. As a person who dislikes operators, both their visuals and their gameplay, I'd welcome this AMP slot for warframes with open arms. Path 2 would be cool as well, if I could only get the operator to grow up and look like someone who belongs on the field (I dislike wonderkids).

I keep hoping that one day the operator could (optionally) grow up and get augmented with warframe elements, all Hayden Tenno like. Not a complete warframe but an amalgamation of the two. In the process you could maybe pick a warframe or two, to inherit attributes from, maybe even pick either their first or second skill. Kind of like having a custom warframe that would have it's own operator ultimates, and of course it would have your customised character's face and other visuals on it. Could also unlock said warframe's animations for use on the operator as a small extra touch. All that would make the operators "very nice indeed™" plus it would add options not remove them.

  7. Agreed. Though I am a stickler for aesthetics, so fixing gameplay for them and refocusing on warframes (while absolutely top priority in my opinion) wont entirely fix operators for me. I dislike the "wunderkind" characters we have and would like for them to physically grow up, during a story event or just give us a purchase option. Having em integrated into the game properly (without hogging the limelight from the title characters!) and having more control over what they look like would be perfect.

If people like their forced avatar to be a child, sure, go ahead. But give others the option for an adult avatar. One part that bothers me about this, is that ages ago the devs talked about warframes being faceless being a good thing, allowing a large amount of people to connect with them and the game. And that having a face or voice would potentially alienate people. And then after a few years, they force a very hammy chosen child character to essentially be you in game, and unsurprisingly it is alienating me from one of my favorite games.

I can only dream of having a cool looking customised adult operator who'd look like they were augmented with warframe tech, sorta like an actual nod towards Dark sector and Hayden Tenno. Whether or not they were a main gameplay element of the game would be irrelevant then, because they'd actually fit the environment/setting. They could eventually make the new operator a sort of custom warframe that you have way more control over abilitywise than your vanilla warframes, you could perhaps inherit attributes from a warframe of your choice or something. This could be either as a reward of some growing as a warrior quest or as a rework. One can dream, right?

I'll prolly rave about this until the end of time, unless they actually change the operators, so I've up until now tried to contain it a bit to spare the forums. But PoE having yet more focus on operators is making me want to voice an opinion, and take part in the conversation.

I think people really aren't giving the new Operator mode a chance.  Nobody could have possibly gotten to the top of the Quills faction standing yet with how grindy it is (which I wholeheartedly agree is ridiculous), and since that unlocks gear that makes Operator mode more powerful, you might actually like it once you're up there.  At least wait until you see how powerful operators can be before you start saying "get rid of operators".

The issue is that so many people came to Warframe for warframes, now DE is pushing content that focuses on, not unique looking well designed warframes, but a very mundane chosen child trope.

More on the personal preference side, on top of forcing an avatar on us players, they didn't bother to let us edit our avatar so that it could be to our liking. So now at least I have an avatar that is not to my liking and is constantly being dragged out. Warframes are being forced out of the limelight as protagonists or player avatars, and the chosen child cliche is put in its place. No amount of awesome operator gameplay is going to change that for me, I just don't like them, and they sure as heck don't hold a candle to warframes as characters, designwise or overall really.

Prolly it's all differences of opinion and yeah, parts of this boil down to: "I like looking at/playing as cool/badass things, trope laced kids aren't either of those"

EDIT: On another note, if operators are to stay. I would enjoy a good growing up story, that way I'd hopefully eventually end up being able to make the operator cooler. An adult person augmented with warframe tech, who'd basically be a customizable (visually, like the current operator) warframe would be seriously dope.

Wow soooo much negativity in some posts above, such strong language and choice of words. I can truly feel the hate, the anger and frustration some of you vets have, and as a new player who's loving Warframe so far, it's very sad to read. For your health, as human beings, it's perhaps best for you guys to move on from Warframe, rather than continuing to check in here and contribute negative posts.

Opinions, even negative ones have a place on these forums as long as they are somewhat constructive and abide by the forum rules. The devs are pretty good at taking feedback and it is needed for the devs to have the whole picture. If nothing else, these negative comments give the devs some info on what is not liked by some fans, so they can at their discretion, see what/if anything they do about it.

I don't see that much salt in this thread, and what is there is still pretty mild. On my part, I'd rather give negative feedback and hope that the devs take it into account, rather than reserve my opinion and silently watch as one of my favorite games goes into an undesirable direction for my tastes.

  10. PoE to mee seems nice overall. But as I have harped on for ages, the kid operator is killing it for me. I'd like it if I could play as the characters I came to the game for instead of being forced to play a wildly different character. Plus I don't like the operator aesthetics at all, kids just aren't cool to me, especially when compared to the warframes. Older/Adult operators would help visually, but the gameplay would still be lacking. Maybe if they inherited some warframe abilities and weren't tiny kids or something, dunno.

If I gotta have an avatar in game, I'd like to have enough choice to customize it to my liking.

  11. I've played warframe for a number of years now and I gotta say the operators are my biggest gripe with the game. So, here's my take as a person who has never really warmed up to the operators, and have actively avoided anything to do with them. I want my character to be cool, a small child is not cool (imo) and is in stark contrast to the warframes in my opinion. Their dialogue to me seems to often be overtly childish and silly/hammy. What would make operators better for me would be: (in order of preference)

-Give us optional older looking characters, I'd pay plat for this, heck I'd pay for prime access if it was locked behind it (late teens/young adult, if they have a good character rig they can use some of the same animations saving on some time, this wouldn't be an astronomical task for a successful game)

-Make them optionally age as you progress (This would make me powergame the heck out of warframe :P)

-At least, please don't MAKE us play as the operators to enjoy endgame content. Allow us "non-believers" to play exclusively with our warframes, if we so choose.

I  originally came to this game for the warframes, and having one of my go to games quite aggressively and suddenly push a wildly different sort of protagonist (An entirely different character archetype altogether) is worrying me. I just don't want to end up a salty vet that quits because the game forced a new protagonist I don't like on me. Sure you can't please everyone, but some steps towards a compromise would be nice.

  12. Ash is in a pretty good place currently, but bladestorm needs more attention in my opinion.

The bladestorm rework was a (small =P) step in the right direction, it still feels like I'm an onlooker. Not sure if someone already suggested something similar, but here goes my suggestion.

I think bladestorm would be much cooler and more fun if it functioned something like this:

    1. You activate the skill, it primes your bladestorm (Ash unsheathes his armblades)

    2. Aim at enemy and left click to attack, each attack would cost 15 energy for example (Ash teleports to enemy and attacks them, attacks would use existing bladestorm animations)

    3. After attack Ash disappears in a puff of smoke (invisible, but stationary) and you have X seconds to attack again, at this point you could do 3 things:

4.1 Right click to attack the same enemy again (15 energy)

4.2 Aim at and left click another enemy to teleport to them and attack, repeating step 3 (15 energy)

4.3 Wait X seconds or press 4 (bladestorm key) to stop bladestormin'

This would allow the player to directly control bladestorm AND would make it more engaging and fun while opening up some new tactics. You could for example focus on a single target and pour your energy pool into just pummeling them. Or you could use your attacks to chain teleport relatively fast from enemy to enemy to cover distances (bladestorm animations would keep it balanced mobility wise). Or you could prioritize enemies on the fly while executing your bladestorm, overall this would focus on bringing more player engagement and skill into play.

If the devs are happy with the current bladestorm, then this could be an augment mod.

+1 for the pitching, even if they give us the option to make the voice weird sounding by pitching to high or to low, its something you alone experience and i dont see any problem in that.

The rest, is a bit "meh", more options to individualise your operator would be nice, but the work that would go into aging the whole stuff could be better used to make new stuff for the existing operators or the frames themselves. If you dont like the childish look, you can disable their voice stuff in the options and close the hood. To be honest, and i dont want to attack you in any way, but your concern is like telling the producers of Lara Croft "i dont like to play female, make her male or i quit".

Thanks for being frank, and polite. To refer your Lara Croft statement, I don't entirely see it the way you do. Sure Lara Croft is the protagonist in Tomb Raider, but for me in Warframe the protagonists or focus has long been on the warframes themselves (Generally adult human shaped ninja machines of death). It wasn't even right after the operators were introduced that I started having really any mentionable issues with them, apart from generally "meh". It was only after "The War Within" quest, where it was super clear that the new protagonists are going to be the operators, and that focus is shifting strongly in their direction, with gameplay that revolves around them.

So in my mind, they kinda replaced cool ninja adult "human(ish)" protagonists with just children, which at least to me clashes with the overall grimdark theme of the game.

So for me, at least, going back to Tomb Raider it feels like they replaced Lara as the protagonist with a completely unknown 12 year old, whom I don't really get at all as a character. And as a result I would like to have "Lara" back or even have some middle ground that is a little more to my liking. So yeah, that's my point of view. I hope I didn't come off as overtly defensive or offensive.

All in all it would obviously be a big task for the devs, but it could prove to be financially viable. As I am sure there are a bunch of people willing to put some coin into either unlocking (young)adult operator skins/audio, or if said skins/audio are free, unlock some cosmetics for them. Because currently, at least for some, if you don't like the current age/general look of your operator, you will definitely not be buying any cosmetic baubles or suits with plat for said operator. And some of the people who like/are not opposed to the current child looks, could also get the adult stuff, as they may like em more.

  14. 10 hours ago, AM-Bunny said:

I don't foresee this ever happening.

Creating new body types would require re-making every single outfit. It would greatly increase the workload and inhibit the addition of future cosmetics.

Additionally, from a narrative perspective it wouldn't make any sense -- in The War Within, they repeatedly refer to the player as 'child' or whatever. This would either require them to record entirely different dialogue to match an adult Operator or to simply keep the dialogue the same, and awkwardly refer to an adult as 'child'.

It's not strictly impossible, but it's just not a realistic expectation, unfortunately.

I think it could be possible, if done correctly, to avoid having to redo earlier audiovisual assets. They could make it so that "growing up" requires a certain quest to be completed (for example The war within), thus there is no need to touch the animation, audio or visual assets from preceding cutscenes or separate voice lines. And after that point they could take into account these things in future narrative stuff, also if resources are an issue they could place a grind wall before the free option and then sell a plat version for those who really want it fast.

As for narrative, old people have always called adults "children", either as a belittling or affectionate term, 60 years of difference and suddenly that 20 something year old is a child in your eyes. And in Warframe the people are super old, Lotus could be like thousands of years old, even at the point she first met the Tenno. Or we could interpret it to refer to the lack of mental maturity of our Tenno, adults can be immature and act like children, thus on the narrative side, I think Teshin/others calling the operator a child could be explained. It could even be interpreted as a sign of extreme affection in some cases, as Teshin could be seen as sort of a father figure.

If you were refering to the children of Zariman lines used throughout the game, I think it could still work, if the event "sired" these Tenno, these individuals will always be the children of Zariman, adult or otherwise as they were "born" of it.

As for workload, they could start small, a re-texturing of the syndicate jumpsuit and expand from there as and when they please. It could even be considered a separate cosmetic "item" and as such they could even get away with focusing on the main children cosmetics, and occasionally throwing something at the adult characters. And as the warframes are built around the adult body, the adult operators could even reuse some warframe cosmetics, to essentially cut costs for DE (syndanas, armor pieces etc. Not helmets though =P)

I think it could be possible, but I recognize that it is a huge undertaking if it will ever happen. The reason why I'm having this conversation is because I feel the game is slowly pushing me out, due to the focus on the operators in their current form. After second dream quest, I could disable the operator voice lines and only occasionally activate the "ultimate", I could avoid the operator. But now the new high level gameplay absolutely requires the use of the operator, which for me at least, is a major bummer.

  15. Okay, I don't post often and mainly lurk so bear with me. This post will go over mainly mine and then my group of friend's opinions of the state of operators on the audiovisual front.

I will go through this in the following manner: 1. My issue with the matter, 2. My reasons and 3. My suggestion for how to fix this. I've put some though on this, so please at least hear me out.

    1. My issue with the operators looking and sounding the way they do now, more specifically my operator:

1.1 I have lost all connection to my "character", and every time I see or hear the kid operator I get reminded of it. This was further brought to light during the: "War within" quest line, which for me was a little lukewarm, at best. This was due to the focus being more and more on the operator, an element I do not like at all, in its current iteration.

    2. My reasons

2.1 I fear that the game's story will focus on the operators more and more, and fear I will get alienated from one of my favorite games of all time, due to this.

2.2 I have generally never liked child protagonists, least of all when they are mass murdering wonder children. I find the concept slightly lazy and it does not appeal to me, moreover I rarely if ever connect with these characters.

2.3 Lastly fighting children make me uneasy, I had a violent childhood (not my parents, thank god), a thing I generally don't talk about, nor like to remember, and this reminds me of it. I do not want Warframe to poke at that scar all the time. As you can see this ties into statement 2.2

    3. My suggestion

3.1 Add a "genemod kit" that allows for our operator to, at the price of a nominal fee, age or get younger. This would give you a new set of cosmetics (make new versions of the older stuff to fit an adult body or use the current syndicate jumpsuit) and audio (which would have to be brand new stuff as well), a huuge undertaking from the devs, and thus I would be ready to pay a premium on such an option.

3.2 Or we could find a story reason for this, we could for example have Teshin guide the Tenno on the path of becoming the master. So the Operator journeys to a shrine and begins his/her mental battle against the spirits of the shrine (gameplay). Nearing the end, the camera swoops out and we see days and nights flowing by in a blitz. Finally, once the battle is complete and the Operator is one step closer to becoming the master, the player is given a choice, to retain their current looks or to allow the effects of meager time to age their bodies, thus making the character a young adult. This could give some feeling of tangible progression, with the character getting older (optional) with some milestones. Also the option to revert or age would still be open if people want to mix things up for themselves.

3.3 No, I'm not asking for "sexed up" models, in fact a slightly atrophied or bio-mechanically enhanced look would fit the narrative better imo.

3.4 For me the operator would be so much awesome if they did not look, act nor sound like children. BUT I could still get behind a naive/childish adult far better than a little child.

3.5 This older looking and sounding operator would be optional, so if people like the current way of things they can keep it.

3.6 Lotus can still be our space mom! I'm grown up and still love my parents!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and please leave an opinion on the matter if you feel like sharing.

Also I can't speak for the inner working of my friends, but they agree with me in that the "kid operators" are a bit... "non-optimal", and adult version would be "badass". Generally my group of Warframe friends don't like the young operators.

  16. At least on my end it's confirmed, performance is normal when in Solo mode. Performance starts deteriorating if i change to an online mode.

As someone earlier stated, switching from an online mode back to Solo won't restore performance. A restart of the game is necessary when the hitching gets heavy.

  17. Well well... I had completely forgotten about the solo option for the game. And it would seem that solo works fine, I have been running friends only for ages and forgot that there was an actual "solo" option. So just having an online session (of any form, even alone) seems to trigger this.

Will run this survival until 60 minutes to be sure.

  18. I get the hitches in both single- and multiplayer. If I'm hosting then the clients will experience the hitches as "lag spikes"(enemies running in place etc. and then a sudden resync). These lag spikes would happen mostly after my hitching got pretty bad (over 1 second). Playing solo might cause the hitching to start slightly later, but in both cases after 30-40 minutes the hitching gets quite bad.

When playing as a client I do not deteriorate the performance of others as far as I know.

  19. I have tested with all the possible window modes (fullscreen, borderless and windowed), none seem to affect this problem in any meaningful way. I also tried running warframe with no other programs running simultaneously, same results, still hitching at steady intervals.

Should I be adding this info to my ticket?

I am expiriencing huge fps drops after u18 too, where can i find that EElog ?

The EE.log is under your appdata folder. The full path should be similar to this    C:\Users\*your profile*\AppData\Local\Warframe

EDIT: Here's better info from the support page

EE.log file: This file can be found in the following folders according to your operating system:

    •  For Windows Vista and above:

     %LOCALAPPDATA%\Warframe

    •  For Windows XP:

    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Warframe

  20. I have had perfect performance up until U18 but now I get progressively worsening hitches every five seconds, on top of that the game starts breaking the longer the hitches get.

I ploughed through 60 minutes of survival (to see how bad it would get) and after 40 minutes the hitches were over 1 second and weird stuff started happening (immune to CC, can't melee, can't roll). At around 60 minutes the hitches were over 2 seconds and happened every 5 seconds at which point the game was absolutely unplayable.

During my run I monitored my system temperatures, GPU/CPU loads, memory use, nothing was out of the ordinary (except that during the hitches cpu&gpu load dropped occasionally). Support asked me to perform a clean install of my GPU drivers but that didn't help either. I have also tried verifying the game files through the launcher.

    Hope this helps...

  21. DE handled this update largely well, but for me seeing my character being a child was a bit of a letdown. If I had the option of playing as an adult character then I could immediately identify more, and it would be cooler as well. But right now, seeing that kid in the basement, kind of maims immersion for what its worth.

I'm not a diehard RP kind of guy but seriously, having an option to have an adult operator would seriously help immersion, and would (for me at least) bring back a little of the "Badassery of Warframe" that seems to have gone with the reveal.

TLDR; To me the main issue with the kid operators is that I can't relate to them at all, if my operator was at least an adult I could relate.

    -snip-

I don't know why but I feel it would have helped, for me anyway, if perhaps it wasn't a kid but an older character as the Tenno. That would help me relate to it more. But as it is now I can't find my self liking the Tenno very much.

    -snip-

Nice to see I'm not the only one who feels this way.

  22. I have a similar issue, it also happens like clockwork, every 5 seconds I get this freeze that gets progressively longer. At the last sortie mission (20 wave Def) I had 2 second hangs every 5 seconds, so it's pretty terrible.

Also my performance has been good up until update 18.

  23. I have similar issues, for me every 5 seconds i get (at first) a very small almost unnoticeable hang, that gets progressively worse. At the end of the 20 wave sortie defence the freezes were over 2 seconds long, at this point the game was relatively unplayable.

Restarting the game removes the issue for a while, until it starts again. So longer missions are completely out of the question.
