I believe this is an update to use Twitch's new drop system - E:D has just started using it too, although for that there is another step to claim it on the developer's website after the Twitch side, so count yourselves lucky in that respect.

In fact the new Twitch system came in August last year. DE has kept us going on the old system as long as they could, but it's being removed in two weeks.
Megan could probably have explained that to begin with though.
