  1. Just some feedback on the boss:

This is far too tedious to be fun.

A bit of detail.  This thing has 20K health, 250 ferrite armor which cuts damage to around 1/3rd, runs away when you do the slight amount of damage you can do, -and- you have to hit it in the unprotected rear end for the privilege of doing that tiny bit of damage.  By the 15 minute mark I was 3 revives down, probably halfway to the 21 downs I took during this battle, and furious at the thought that I'd have to do this over and over again for many hours to get pieces for Atlas.  Typically, I don't get downed in a full day of play, even on the rare occasion where I waste time on Archwing missions; this is a giant leap in difficulty for no apparent reason.

The only thing that passes for real cover is the spherical arena itself, and going outside the arena to take cover from the constant swarm of attackers inside results in Ordis warning you that you're not playing fair with the massive armored behemoth that lied to you so he could lure you in and murder you.  I blew through 20 large heal restores and found that I had to use them 2 at a time because I was only ever going to get the initial tick of healing from them - trying to stay in one place long enough to get a second tick was inevitably, if not immediately, fatal.  Odonata Prime's shield ability did not suffice to provide defense simply because I was under fire from all angles - not just the usual 360 of left and right, front and behind, but the usual problems with archwing where you're being shot from both above and below.  Having a ring of red indicators to tell me where foes are located does not help when those foes are located everywhere.  Eventually the only option is to try to outrun them or hope teammates distract them.

Long story short, this is perhaps the only challenge in the game that I feel I simply could not complete by myself - there's too much going on, too many factors to keep track of and too many hitpoints to whittle away at a pace that can only be described as agonizing.  I'd give soloing suited Vay Hek a shot - I could bring a proper warframe with weapons and powers that are leveled and modded to peak effectiveness.  However, I already feel like I've been crippled every time I step into an Archwing, and dragging that sensation of helplessness out for 30 minutes while 4 players repeat the same process of chasing with afterburners, emptying clips, and spamming deployables to replenish health, energy, and shields is not a positive gameplay experience.

When we finally won I wasn't excited.  I didn't feel like I'd earned a victory over a powerful foe or figured out how to make a hard battle easier through skillful play.  I was depressed because I figured out that you can not make this battle easier by playing better and the reward was the ability to replay the battle in order to win parts of Atlas.  There is no skill involved in this fight, it is punishing rather than challenging, and I think it needs a redesign in a hurry.

  2. Having the same issue here - the launcher locks up and I get a Windows error message explaining that "The evolution engine is not responding", prompting me to close the program or wait for it to respond.

Running the launcher directly instead of through steam doesn't solve the problem, so it doesn't seem to be an overlay issue.

Verifying through Steam results in a 5.6 GB download which doesn't ultimately solve the problem but does allow me to get the launcher back to the pre-bugged state it was in when I first launched it this morning.  If left to its own devices, it attempts to update and re-breaks itself to the point where I can't interact with the launcher at all.

After a second 5.6 GB download prompted by verifying through steam, I attempted to instead verify through the launcher menu.  That performed a 3rd 5.6 GB download through the launcher instead of Steam's download service, attempted to install, and promptly re-broke itself.

  3. You cruel human being, you. If you want the mastery, youll have to work for it. Not everything gets handed on a silver plate of endless convenience.

This isn't an entitlement issue.  There's no amount of skill or effort on the part of a player that will keep the dog's AI from sending it to its doom.

I'm not asking for a handout.  I'm asking for a remedy for what appears to be an oversight.  This feature exists for sentinels; I can see no reason it shouldn't exist for kubrow.  Surely one can teach a dog to heel?

  4. I'd love a way to tell my Kubrow not to attack.

I don't like Kubrow.  They count toward mastery rank, so I feel obligated to level them up.

In doing so, I have to put up with a melee pet that charges mindlessly toward any target.

    Toxic Animus?  Charge!

    Fire Animus?  Charge!

    Volatile Runner?  Charge!

    Exploding Oxium Osprey?  Charge!

    Grineer Arc Trap?  Charge!

I can make my sentinel passive by removing its 'attack' card.  I'd love to be able to do the same with my Kubrows.  All I want them to do is sponge XP until I can abandon them in a derelict, declawed, and let the Infestation take them.

  5. I'm building for T3/4 40+ minute stuff, since everything before that point can still be accomplished through a build optimized for harder things, albeit with some caveats.

The -55% efficiency doesn't matter with this much duration.  Both buffs cost 25 energy, so a 55% cost increase takes you 50 to 80 energy per minute for both buffs.  With flow you'll have 450 energy, so 5 minutes of buffs even if you get no energy balls.  Between energy siphon and enemy drops, you'll always be full.

Since efficiency doesn't matter much for the main skills, survival is our next goal.  Mirage's base health/shield are 80 each, for 240 each at level 30.  440% of that 80 base means max rank redirection and vitality add 352 points of their stats.  QT+Flow on Mirage is equivalent to 1080 health, and this frame has 65 armor instead of 15.  My plan isn't to use health and shields for survival, it's to use my energy pool as a second health pool and use Hall of Mirrors to draw fire so I don't get hit in the first place.

So whether we're talking about damage, efficiency, or survivability, I disagree with your assessment.  I wouldn't replace QT+Flow on Mirage because it's much more effective to enhance her strengths than try to shore her weaknesses up with mods that are percent-based.

The only thing left is Prism, and this is just a difference in usage.  I don't plan to use it for damage or have it on the screen for very long at all; I plan to get into position, throw it, and pop it almost immediately for the blind debuff, which should last until the target's death with this much duration.  There may be team compositions that would make this tactic unnecessary - teams with excal, nyx, etc already controlling most opponents - and in that case having the extra buffer of vitality might be worthwhile.

  6. The difference between invincible and almost invincible is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.  I would strongly recommend against using Rage in long T4 rounds unless you're playing Valkyr.

Better to just learn to use Energy Vampire more effectively.  You'll get more mileage out of going for a down-ranked Fleeting Expertise and adding a down-ranked Streamline for 75% efficiency, and you won't have to risk getting 1-shot to do it.

Stretch also doesn't help you much, particularly if you're not using Energy Vampire - blessing has infinite range and with -30% duration you'll have to recast link every 8 seconds.

Attempting to tank and spam blessing is sort of splitting your focus, but if I were going to try it I'd go with a build like this: http://bit.ly/1ug3gsO

  7. There's also no reason to do this, you can apply the correct forma to just one frame and have ALL builds available for it. You know that abilities don't REQUIRE the ability polarity? You should always polarize two ability slots away from every frame. That way you can achieve more different builds with the same polarities. 3 and 7 cost mods don't need polarities.

    Actually, no.

Here're the two builds I'm trying to get access to:

I could get them both working on the same frame, but that would mean using a V polarity instead of a D polarity.  Looks like this:

However, having two V polarities means committing to 2 of Blind Rage, Intensify, and Continuity in every build, and Continuity only gets me 4 points from a V.  Most of the really expensive stuff is D polarity - Vitality, Redirection, Quick Thinking, Vigor, and Narrow Minded are all D.  Looking at the available mods, the one I'm most likely to remove to fit in Redirection is Continuity.  In that case, I'd end up with something like this:

...which is exactly one point short of fitting.  Would be fine if I had left a 3rd ability polarity in place or turned it into a D instead of a V, but with a V I can't make Redirection fit.

Basically the problem boils down to flexibility.  Adding polarities to your frame gives you more options up to a certain point, but beyond that point it increasingly restricts them.
  8. While walking around the lower half of the ship, pressing "E" causes the warframe to interact with the kubrow if present.

Presumably this wastes your limited quota of loyalty restoration actions.  Can't verify since I can't lose loyalty with my infant kubrow, but both sets of animations seem to be the same.  Since I can't lose loyalty there's no damage to the loyalty bar to restore and I can play both animations without limit.

This seems like a bug.  I can't imagine anyone sitting down and thinking it would be a good idea to make something so easy to waste accidentally.  Maybe I'm missing something and this is an alternate way to fire off the affection simulation animation without increasing the loyalty restore counter.  Anyone know more about this?

  9. Well... no, I know how to get multiple copies of the same frame.  I have a 2-ability Trinity and a 3-ability Trinity.

I'm trying to do the same thing with Mirage, but I can't get the blueprints a second time.  I'm wondering whether this is intentional - every other frame in the game you can craft multiple copies of, so if this is intentional it's a first.

  10. So I completed the quest chain to get Mirage and I'm having fun with the frame.

However, I want two copies; one with 3 ability polarities for Hall of Mirrors / Eclipse / Prism and a second copy without Prism.

I can't find a way to get the quest to start a second time.  Selecting it in the codex doesn't give the option to 'Begin' the quest.  Crafting a second Whispers didn't change anything. I even tried following a friend into the first mission location while they completed their quest, but I didn't get another Mirage blueprint upon completion.

So, short of just buying the frame from the store... how can I get a second copy of her?

  11. Even above and beyond the "mirage isn't OP" argument, there are a ton of other frames that can do the same or better.  If you let me stand in front of you during an entire mission with Ember, I could wipe everything out with World on Fire.  If I was on Nyx I wouldn't even need to fight things because they'd be too busy fighting each other.  If I was on Ash I could gib things before they even saw me.

Being able to wipe the floor with tons of mid-level enemies - that map's what, 20ish? - without relying on a second player doesn't make a frame OP and doesn't necessitate a nerf.  Most frames are just about as powerful as Dynasty Warriors characters, and the map you use as an example here while calling for a nerf is not even close to a challenge for an experienced player with an established collection of mods.

The bug in Hall of Mirrors that causes Mirage to sometimes do millions of damage needs fixed, but overall the frame feels extremely frail, especially since Quick Thinking, her best defensive option thanks to low base health and shields, is broken.

  12. A few things to add to the list from personal experience today:

Quick Thinking no longer stops incoming damage.

Mirage's Hall of Mirrors + a heavily modded Amprex sometimes results in ludicrous damage for a round - I hit 800k-41m consistently.  Didn't see this happen solo.

I'm crashing a lot since the new patch and never crashed in 13.9.  I've also noticed a huge increase in 'failed to connect to session', disconnection from host causing loss of mission rewards, and extremely long loading times at mission start.

  13. Howdy.

I'm looking for a clan that meets three simple requirements:

    1) An adult clan.  I don't cuss like a sailor or spew dirty jokes, but I'm an adult and I don't want to play with children.

    2) A clan with a voice chat server.  Server.  Not Raidcall, Skype, or C3; something like Mumble, Teamspeak, or Ventrilo.

    3) An active, established clan.  Ideally I'd like to see multiple parties of clan members running together during peak hours.  I'm looking to contribute to an established team, not carry a brand new group with a dubious future.

I'm rank 12, have all but 4 frames at 30, and have crafted everything from the market / clan research.  My goals are to run events and farm the void for mods and prime parts.  The recruiting channel has served well so far, but void farming would work better with reciprocity.

If you would like to add me to your team, please contact me in game (kryori) or send me a message through the forum.

  14. ✿ Tell us a little about yourself.

Oh geez, these are always so awkward.  Um, let's see, uh.  My fav hentai artist is Sparrow, an' my favorite semi-cephalopod is tentacle kitty.  I've been playin' warframe for about a month, farmed up just about everything I can farm up outside the void, and I'm lookin' for a group of folks to do harder stuff with as a team - nightmare runs, vault runs, making sticky mess of the void and running events.

Yep, I'm a laid-back adult player, not an immature asshat.

  15. Nickname (if you carry another outside of the game): kryori

Steam Userpage: I prefer to keep my steam info private and will not join any steam groups.

    Age : 33

What are your goals in Warframe? (Casual, Collector, Become frame-overlord,...) : Farm up and level one of everything, help other folks do the same, blow up ALL the things!

How serious are you about Warframe? : Very much aware that it's a game and I'm here to have fun first and foremost, but when it comes down to the wire I do play to win.

Do you have a Headset/Microphone? (not required, but helpful) : Ayup.

Why do you want to join Warfurs? : I've bounced around from one small clan to another for a while and never actually -played- with any of my clanmates.  During that time I've maxed out all my frames and started running out of weapons to level; I'm ready to farm the void with a steady group of people, and warfurs seem to be active based on the most recent event scoreboards.

Were you brought here by another Warfurs member? (And if so, what is their Name?) : Nope, but I wouldn't be surprised to bump into a lot of folks who know me.

  16. Point is: even with a lower rank frame and weaponry, as long as I have at least one decent weapon and am in an appropriate level area, the other two bosses are definitely doable.  I firmly believe that the grustrag three are the same.  Just change your tactics a little.   As for the resource costs, the only hard one to get is neural sensors and even then.

The other two are more doable at low levels because they're individual enemies and tend to remain fixated on their mark targets.  Stalker in particular is a bit of a joke because he spawns in as a black blob, slowly stands up - and in my experience typically falls over on the spot before he can finish the 'standing' animation.  You get to shoot him first, and if you run fast enough you can make Harvester fire on you and reveal its location prior to damage hitting your shield.

That isn't the case with G3 simply because there are three of them; being shot at may mean you know where one of them is, but the other two are still out there and will still one-shot your low level frame.  You can take cover from Stalker or Harvester (you shouldn't, but you can) but you can't take cover from all of the G3 at once.

Again, I'm not trying to say this is a hard fight.  With a passable team they're easy to defeat, but the points I describe above make running away from them on a low level frame a crapshoot regardless of player skill.  You can make a good strategic plan, strong tactical decisions, execute those ideas well, and still get gibbed and penalized.

And as to the resources, I think you're missing the point.  These are the same resources I need to craft forma, orokin catalysts, orokin reactors, etc.  The real 'end game' of Warframe is farming that stuff, so when I take a break from my end game chores to level up a new frame, only to be slapped with a penalty that forces me back to the grind, I think I'm legitimately frustrated to find that decisions about how I spend my play time are being forced upon me.

Now, there is the issue of your party abandoning you (though in some cases, fighting solo can be easier than fighting in a group), but that is more of players being jerks than bad design.

Good design encourages players to cooperate, not to abandon / abort a mission to avoid a penalty.  Most players aren't jerks in the sense that a troll is a jerk, but most players are looking out for themselves first.  Someone earlier mentioned that veteran players who already had the Brakk are bailing out of this fight to avoid the penalty - and they already know they can win the fight and are best equipped to do so!  I doubt we'd see people bailing if the neurode / neural sensor requirement was removed, but the bolt could still pose a threat cost-wise by upping the credit requirement.  Unlike neurodes and sensors, credits are attainable through any game mode, so players don't end up forced into a small group of specific missions to effectively farm the required components.

  17. ...but she made it seem very much like I could just head to extraction and leave without problems.  Run for your life ain't exactly the same as Alt-F4.

No, it isn't.  Running for extraction still gives them a good chance to inflict a penalty on you, since there is a good chance that they will spawn in and gib your low-rank frame before you can make it to extraction.

You basically want a win-win situation.

No, I want a situation in which winning is possible if I play skillfully.

You got a deathmark, you know they can jump you - carry a good gun.

I did that, which is why I was overconfident enough to attempt to fight in the first place; doesn't help if you get gibbed because your max hp/shields are low and three bosses spawn atop you.

Cant handle it? Do one invasion for Grineer to erase the mark - you'll be neutral.

According to what?  Where can I find my mark status in game?  Where can I find instructions that indicate that backing the grineer erases my mark in game?  If this is accurate it would explain why I never seem to bump into Harvester lately - I need Fieldron more than Detonite Injectors - but I can't find anything anywhere to back this assertion up.

  18. if you're always marked. then you should always be ready. If you take low level weapons to rank up, then take a high level frame. If you take low level frame then take high level weapons. This what's great about Warframe juxtaposed to say Borderlands or something.

All this is just about thinking and being strategic before you go out Ninja-ing. The penalty is not that high, IMHO. For new players... You could always just not partake in an Invasion missions against Grinneer, if you are 2 green.

Guns don't matter when you have a low level frame.  It took 1 hit to blow up my Molt and 2 hits to burn through 520 shields and 270 health, the most my low-rank Saryn could have with the mods I have available (unranked Physique, Fortitude, Molt, Venom, 8/10 Redirection).  I didn't even have time to identify the direction the shots were being fired from before I was incapacitated.  I could probably have killed them in a few seconds of 9k dps Phage fire, but that wasn't an option by the time I saw them.

Which sounds like complaining, but it's really not; if I'd had 3 teammates who were reasonably equipped and worked together it would have been easy to get rezzed and wipe them out.  Instead I had one Nova that ran away faster than I could keep up.  Yeah, I should have hit ALT + F4 earlier in that situation; but the fact that a situation exists where the best solution is to crash the game rather than deal with a harsh penalty seems, to me, to be a problem that should be addressed.  Maybe some sort of alternate reward for escaping successfully by running to the end of the mission rather than crashing the game?

  19. You know, you could try being civil instead of attacking every point directly. He's not saying we're only supposed to use the penta, he's saying that any remotely modded weapon can take down the Stalker if you're good at the game. Most of my guns can kill him a few hits.

As for the Grustrag, it's easy to fight them as soon as you take out the guy with the Hek, the rest is just Kiting and taking potshots which any ranked player can do.

The point isn't how difficult they are - I'm not saying they're a hard fight, assuming you're prepared for a boss-caliber fight.

The point is risk vs reward.  Winning gets you a chance of a part of the Brakk; you have to win numerous times to get the Brakk.  Losing gets you a guaranteed penalty that requires rare resources to remove.  Unless you can be sure of victory, there's no reason to take that risk.

And... just because it's a pet peeve, saying "X is easy once you overcome the most difficult part of X, the rest is just Y" takes for granted that you're capable of overcoming the most difficult part of X.  Of course the rest is easy, it's all downhill from that point.

  20. Tips...

Put your extractors out and stock up on those resources. The required resources definitely DO NOT require hours of farming.

Go run Kappa around Sedna for easy Oxium.

And And AND don't go out in your underwear on a Grineer level when you know you are marked for Death by Grustrag. Low level Frames and weps  are alike a warmed HotPocket ready to be eaten for the 3 Stooges.

All 4 extractors are on levels that give neurodes, neural sensors, or orokin cells; I've gotten one harvest of neural sensors and everything else has been common resources.  So yes, in my experience, they do require farming.

And as far as the 'don't go out in your underwear' comment - best I can tell I'm always marked for death by the grustrag, the harvester, and the stalker simultaneously.  That's just a result of playing the game well and going after the goals set by the devs, by which I mean fieldron and detonite injectors and the cells / reactors provided as conflict rewards.
