  1. RNG works as an ilusion of chance actually it is chance... it makes things more interesting this is not a single player game with a limited lifespan, this game is designed to be played for hundreds of hours, you have to like redoing missions and such to enjoy it, the randomly generated maps make it work wonderfully imo.

  2. I think the most valuable thing we have is time, farming to build her so it is "legit" its in my opinion a poor bland excuse for people who do not want to pay for whatever reason, i think that playing hours and hours to get what you want to play in the first place is a bad usage of time, in my opinion whenever you are playing with your current frame you should ask yourself this question : Am i enjoying myself? do i really enjoy farming hours and hours? or a am i just putting up with this because i want to play Zephyr? if you are not having fun with your current frame just buy Zephyr, because after all we cant buy more time, i mean real time, life time. On the other hand if you r having fun then just keep going until you can build her.

  3. true there names arent japanese inspired. im fine with them having multiple cultural refs, i just dont like it that people are clearly ignoring that the Tenno are obviously largely based off of japanese culture.

yeap, same here, the references are there, whether people like it or not, and i like that they are eclectic too.

  4. Well:

    - Tenno do something akin to the seiza on the main screen when sitting.

    - The name "Tenno" itself, which in Japanese means "Heavenly Sovereign", a title referring to the Emperor.

    - The Lotus motif, which is the symbol for Nirvana in Buddhism.

    - The names of several weapons like the Bo, Kunai, Hikou, Kogake, etc., all of which are traditional Japanese weapon names.

    - The Garden Arch decoration for the Dojo is pretty much a Torii

    - the Yin Yang Garden decoration, the Yin Yang being a Chinese symbol.

    - The Hokibachi deco, "Hokibachi" being a particular style of Bonsai.

    - The Koi Pond, "Koi" being Japanese for carp.

There are probably more examples of Asian culture-inspired motifs in Warframe apart from those...

te reinforce your opinion i have to say that those are not really "inspired" they are directly that lol, tenno's position is not like the seiza it IS a seiza position, same with the dojo decorations and all the weapon names... even the word dojo, its not that the weapon is called Kunei, its called Kunai and it looks and tacts like real life kunais, so, they ARE those objects, not just inspired, i think it is very cool that tennos have this oriental vibe, in my opinion it does not relate to their origin (maybe they i do, i dont know) but to a certain attitude and philosophy towards war and combat, the grineer on the other hand are a highly industrialized race and they all look the same, they are "the soldier", tennos are "the warrior"... imo...

What calls my attention though is the fact that most frame names are from Nord, celtic and europan culture in general instead of oriental: Valkyr, Loki, Excalibur, Oberon etc etc.

  5. For the most part, the colouration is intended, but there is a bug that we didn't pick up on before this skin was released. The lower half of the tabbard isn't referencing the Immortal Skin at all. We're looking into this now.

This one will be coming pretty soon. I really like the design of it, but I can't give any spoilers away. Sorry!

Thank you very much for the quick reply and for the news on the second helmet! and thanks also for such a wonderful game.

  6. I thought oberon's original design was pretty solid. I previewed the immortal skin, but only briefly. I'd have to mess with color schemes to get something really great out of it, but for me, the original suffices. the immortal skin also generates an extra color for some parts on the lower arm, and covering the quads (upper leg). I thought maybe it was based on a mix of two different colors in the color scheme, but it seems to be based only on Tint 3, just a couple shades lighter. here are some oberon pics:

one of my oberon's color schemes:

    xwiVjIS.jpg

and with the immortal skin on:

    HVudQnY.jpg

I did some testing on another color scheme, varying all the colors, but even though it seems like in this case it could be a combination of tints 3&4, that's only because my tint 4 is white. this feature is actually pretty cool (looks great on standard-issue oberon, as you get a lighter gray in addition to his other 4 colors), but when it gives you a random gold color like that, it messes up the scheme. just wanted to make DE aware of that

also, OP, it seems your one complaint about oberon's new skin is in reference to your own sensibilities regarding "animal anatomical traits". the bit about his tabbard is relevant, but the rest is your opinion. I would've messed around with your color scheme before jumping into a spur-of-the-moment purchase, and then you would've seen what it would look like

Yes off course i did not pretend anything else than to say that i did not like it. im not trying to achieve anything i just wanted to give my subjective and sincere opinion, luckily the tabard part was indeed helpful (and im glad it was) because it was not intended, i just felt like sharing my opinion, i still strongly believe that the original skin its aethetically more interesting, for me at least... in case it's still not clear i was not demanding anything.

Also i have no sensibilities towards animal traits (actually i love his anatomy) what i meant is that the original design was like "oh! i see what you did there" and the immortal one seems to reinforce the "goat man wearing armor and tabard look" to the point that is just too explicit.

The first one relied on silhouette and anatomy, the second one makes the tabard more noticeable and the patches are placed in parts that resemble fur reinforcing that, again i have no sensibilities towards animal traits i just think the original design is less explicit making more interesting to read.

  7. You kidding me? Oberon is awesome for his unique and animal-ish traits.

well yea... speaking about the design strictly... i like his design because of that... i dont see the point the point that seems to be obvious to you that would make me be "kidding" about it... (really im not being sarcastic) you don't like it? or you think he is awesome for other reasons? or just do not like anything about him?

  8. Well i woud lie if i said that Oberon is not kind of the underdog of the game, i'm not sure why though, because i think he is one of the most interesting and clever designs, his anatomy clearly shows animal traits but as all frames his "skin" looks like something from some very advanced technology, i think that contrast makes him one of the most interesting frames in the aesthetical aspect.

Sadly, in my opinion, the Immortal skin which was recently released and i bought inmediately works in a detrimental way to the original design, in comparison with other immortal skins this one does not seem to cover the whole model, leaving parts looking like the original one, most of the details are placed on the chest and the hanging part of the tabard just does not change at all, breaking the original subtleties of the original skin, and on top of that with the immortal skin now he has "fur patches" over the legs, forarms and back of the legs, almost as fast as i bought the skin i unequipped it.

The original skin came near uncanny valley territory by mixing unexpected animal anatomical traits with the signature biotechnological look of warframe and that made it unique, beautiful and genius, the immortal one just reinforces the "goat man" look leaving almost nothing as a suggestion, off course im not going to start screaming "refund!" but i doubt i will ever equip the immortal skin again, what troubles me more though is the fact that i doubt there will be a second Immortal skin for the underdog goatman dude (because the pattern shows there is only one per frame)

I just hope the second alternate helmet is epic (whenever it comes) and ill just pray to the tenno gods for a good prime skin if that happens.

  9. these guidelines are very clear and helpful but i have to disagree in the part about writing as an employee... even if the game is free to play the relationship is that of a costumer and a provider of a service. i think that a statement like "dude i pay gimme what i want nao!!!" its not appropiate but i do believe that acquiring services by paying a fee makes the relationship complex and delicate than an employee/employer relationship, and the most suitable (if possible) comparison if we REALLY had to involve those terms would probably put the one paying for a service in the position of employer instead of employee... besides that im glad that these guidelines are clear, consice and precise, thanks.

  10. well i have to admit that the first time my oberon became invisible i was a bit dissapointed with the effect and how weird it was that the legs seemed to be separated from the rest of it, the model in my opinion is gorgeus i can even live with the clipping issues, this topic seems quite technical and i think that is great, but most people think that oberon is "wrong" because he has a "fat torso" or "skinny arms", any technical polish/improvement of quality is off course welcome, but i really hope they do not re-design him to have a jersey shore body just because some players do not understand his "alien" proportions. good post though, it shows that you care about the game and want this to be the best possible.

  11. Maybe I didn't communicate it properly. I was agreeing with you, and sending out a generic hypothetical question to anyone it may concern, like those who disagree. I did read carefully, I was supporting your opinion with a similar one.

Oh, from here it looked like you disagreed but then supported the same ideas, sorry if i seemed rude then... anyway Oberon is great : P and im glad that we agree, he does not need any "fixing", i definitely love that mythical white stag look he has, and the unique proportions.

  12. His legs wouldn't fit human legs? Human suit or remote control?

Whose to say Oberon is human? Maybe that's the shape of his legs. Maybe the Tenno for each Warframe look different, be it a genetic/cultural trait, or genetic modification.

Point is, there's no reason for anyone to call Oberon "Wrong", because for all you know he's perfect.

Well that exatly is what i said... u cant say its "wrong" cause there is nothing in real life to compare to, and i think its the best looking Frame i just love it... so i dont see what u r trying to do here... i said that i wish they are some kind of biotechnological beings, u said is genetic modification, whatever it is we both are talking about the same thing, that Oberon's look is probably HIS natural normal look, and in my case i love the "weird" proportions (in comparison to human proportions). Also i never said Oberon is human, and that is exactly what i was trying to affirm, that people should not expect all warframes to look like brad pitt in troy because their nature seems to be something else than human, and i love that about them, next time read more carefully pls...

  13. Gaming is just part of popular culture nowadays, some people like watching movies, some like reading books, some like playing bowling, etc etc, and some like playing video games, its not age restricted, unless you want to play Hello Kitty online... which in fact you can if you want, but i guess the intended audience is another, and speaking of intended audience, with all the violence in warframe i don't think it was made for little kids. Btw i'm 32.

We should start a clan for "old" people! ;)

  14. His body has animal propotions and characteristics and the most noticeable feature are his "goat legs" and the "hooves" over his hands u can't say that his proportions are not perfect then, because there is no real life model (hybrid as him) to compare to, in my opinion his torso resembles the belly of a quad mammal like a deer, and the most disturbing feature is that both his legs and arms dont look thick enough to "contain" human limbs inside, this adds some controversy again to the "suit vs remotely controlled body" question, i just wish warframes are not like grineer are, human body parts mix matched with cybernetic parts, i sincerely hope that if this is ever answered by official lore, warframes are biotechnological organism themselves and not just "suits" because if they were indeed suits then Nekros and Oberon are missing their original limbs and that is too creepy for me : P or maybe they are aliens inside the suit...
