Umm, Antimatter Drop is ridiculous for damage. In about 1 second I can set up an orb that will do 300k+ damage to everything within 15 meters of where I drop it, without the aid of Molecular Prime's 2x damage debuff. Yeah that's mega overkill for most of the content, but if you do really long survivals and defenses, that level of damage becomes incredibly useful.

And if for whatever I need more damage, I can drop a second one to do 1.2+ million damage right away.

As for your "pros" for Ash, specifically in a team setting:

His "1" ability quickly becomes useless in any sort of difficult content.

His "2" ability has a stagger, which is absolutely terrible when you compare it to any CC that other warframes can bring. It's also not spammable, so it's shortlived as well. Furthermore, if you spec to make invisibility useful and as long as possible, you heavily gimp the stagger radius. In comparison, Nova's Molecular Prime halves the speed of everything (including fire rate, which means it is essentially halving the incoming fire), double the damage the enemy takes, and lasts for what feels like an eternity over an insane range. Listen to a Heavy Gunner wind up her Gorgon while under MPrime and think about how much potential damage was just mitigated. The damage debuff means that everyone can do double damage, far more valuable than an easily replaceable short/medium range stagger.

His "3" ability is often buggy and really is not that helpful to the team. Maybe every so often you can use it to catch someone and revive them, but more often than not it's really not terribly useful.

His "4" ability is pretty bad. It's fancy and that's about it. It takes a day and a half to execute, during which time some random other guy with a Penta probably could have accidentally killed everything already. It really does not have any real use in a team gearing for late game. Its damage will fall off terribly, and you're basically relegating yourself to doing mediocre damage and not using your weapon (which is where all your damage will be), when any other warframe would just simply be shooting and outdamaging you. The only plus side to using his 4 is a purely selfish one, in that you're invulnerable and can regenerate your shields or whatever while it is going on.

For normal content virtually any warframe is fine. But normal content is easy enough and Nova is powerful/efficient enough that Nova can kill a room full of mobs before Ash can even take out his first target with Bladestorm, and if that's the case, all the tactics and whatnot in the world don't matter if your enemy is already dead before you even need to apply them. When you get into really high level stuff, Ash offers virtually nothing that other frames aren't (far) superior at.

If you find Ash fun and can personally play Ash better than you can play Nova, there's nothing wrong with that. But Nova is pretty much far more powerful and more useful than Ash, regardless.

And no, I'm not a Nova player, at least not very often. And when I do play Nova, I rarely use Molecular Prime. I'm all about that Antimatter Drop - far more fun to play with.

Thanks for the answer but i cannot totally agree... But maybe i'm the one doing someting wrong.

In my experience (no maths o stats) the antimatter drop really isn't helpful. Hard to aim, hard to hit, and really no "milion damage in a wide area".

Why?XD I tried many many times, really. Most of the time it will go right between two enemies and will not hit anyone. When i hit it's no big damage...

Does it depend on something? Focus mod?

About the smoke bomb it's 8 second of high damage &/or escape-regeneration or save any other player + stun enemy in wide area: how can you call that a bad ability?

About Ash you are right about "selfish" abilities. However, maybe you forget that saving you also means to be able to save others.

I've played survival 3 , defense 3, all derelict, and nova just cannot help really much and surely not as ash. The fact is that most players at those level have supercharged rhino or nova or ember prime, so everything just keep dying and when it's too much you just go to extraction.

Of course Ash is not a damage based warframe, and warframe (let's face it) is not a tactical game and overkilling is always the best option.

So, as Brahmastra already said, when you have overpowered weapon there is no more reason to worry about abilities. And i think this is why i'm disappointed with nova, in fact in my case warframe is my main "weapon" and my soma and all the other weapons just support me. So when a lvl 50 enemy appear it's for me a big problem and i really appreciate how my ash grants me different options to win, if i could kill him in few seconds i wouldn't need any "strategy". But also, i think, the game is much more boring this way.

The reason why i think ash is "better" is related to the different gameplay he can offer: stealth, offensive, support, ecc... But of course vauban or trinity would be better for support (nekros too?) and nova, ember for damage. Ash is  good in many thing but is excellent in nothing. I'm actually playing a rhino and of course the game is far more easy (charge better than kunai, invincibility better than invisibility, stomp faster than bladestorm

and really useful to stop any attack) but also far more "stupid" and have also "limited" in options of gameplay. While ash can face, even with some

difficulties, any and really any situation (long range, short range, fast escape, save, kill, run to objective, big boss, multiple targets,) nova cannot nor rhino, nor excalibur, ecc...

However thank you really much about your answer, you made me understand how much weapons can change the gameplay and

the "use" of your warframe. It's no doubt that with better weapon i would find nova far more powerful and in this sense more useful.

  2. Hi Tenno,

My question is simple: which warframe do you prefer and why?

I really don't care much about dps stuff, but only on your experience.

After my ash went to level 30, i builded nova thinking " now i will be so strong!" but actually i got pretty disappointed.

So i would like to know if it's because i'm still not good enough ( i'm a real free player, never paid for platinum and used them to buy slots, and i've done really a few missions in the void/derelict/orokin so i still miss some important mod like focus and energy siphon. For now i have those weapons: Akvasto, Orthos, Boltor, Dual Ether, Kunai, Paris.) or if there is a big "lie" about Nova.

I have read a lot of discussion about warframe and of course i know it always depend on each player gameplay style, but let's try to give a real answer for everyone.

Is there any reason to play nova beside her molecular prime? I really think no. But after playing with her i think that even her "final" skill is not so strong as it seems. There are 2 reason:

    1) Many times shooting an enemy close to another will not (i don't know if it's normal or not) cause the explosion.

    2) If you are low on health and a tough opponents appear the ability is useless because it will just slown down but not take down the enemy (even if the enemies take more damage), you still have to shoot it yourself which means that you could die (or hope that he has a weak soldier aside and that killing it will trigger the explosion)!

Of course i'm not saying Nova molecular prime is weak, please understrand me, it is awesome and funny and can be amazingly powerful. I'm just saying that maybe it is not as powerful as most people says/think. Especially if it's the only good thing about this warframe...

For the other 2 skills (lets forget the first one) let's face it: almost useless. The "antimatter drop" will not draw fire and save you and will not cause big damage. I tried many time in many different situation hoping that it would be the "tactical" power of Nova, but the truth is that it's not. The teleport hole costs much ( i have the power efficency mods and i know you can drop the cost) for what it is and will not save you many times even if it can be useful in some level to "jump" and move.

So in the end Nova is just a Berserker with low shield and low health that must always use her final ability and cannot help her team very much. Maybe good at overkilling but really not funny to play.

Then comes Ash. I've read many times things like " It's mainly for solo playing" and i'm sorry but that's not true.

Of course he is good for solo (even if solo missions are too hard, game creators should do something about it) but he also is great for helping others as you can 1) become invisible and save a dead teammate even if he is in the middle of a hell of fire. 2) Stun the surrounding enemies also with the smoke screen while allowing everyone to escape/kill and even giving artifact some seconds to recover shield in defense mission. 3) Teleporting really far away with its bladestorm to give support to his friends.

Also those same 2 powers (kunai and teleport are not very useful if compared) grants him to be DEADLY as without any focus mod (or any to improve power strenght) bladestorm will kill 10 or more level 30 grineer and that smoke screen add 50%damage to any enemies while you are invisible. Smoke screen also do not cost too much so it's really great and allows the player to use his brains and chose what to do/how to play in many different situations.

What about "survival"? Well Ash has (at level 30) 150 more health and 80 more shield than nova, but even forgetting

the stats smoke screen give you time to escape and recover. Also the bladestorm, because it's "slow", give you invincibility while doing it and let your shield recover (especially if there are many enemies)! I think in overall it's better than molecular prime.even if it's slow.

Yes, Ash lack power ( 150 vs 225 of nova) but "power" is not the damage/range/cost but only the number you can stock (am i wrong?). And it depends mainly on the random energy you find (unless you have siphon of course).

So i find it really not important to have less "stock" energy, 150 are more than enough (especially with efficiency mods)

to play. In the hard situations you just use all your skills anytime you need (find 100, use 100 to ultimate skill, find 50 use 50 ecc...) and it's very rare to wait for power, especially with ash that has 2 very useful skills.

    So in the end:

Ash: Tactical - Help - Deadly - Survival

Nova: Kill..Kill..Kill..Kill? Why don't you play Serious Sam instead of Warframe? lol

This is why i think Ash is far better, in overall. Maybe it's because i'm an old RPG/Tactical game fan/player?

And also this is something i think about many other warframe (ember, valkyr, mag, ecc...) and i think it's really bad

that in this game even a rhino is more tactical (attack +, defense +, stasis, charge for capturing!) than many others.

But maybe i'm wrong and so please tell me :) Thanks.
