  1. With firearms being significantly more complicated than melee weapons, I think a 4-part (or more) system would be better:

    1. Receiver: determines weapon type: rifle, shotgun, launcher, beam, reload
    2. Core: determines damage, ROF, punch through, ammo capacity
    3. Barrel: determines crit, status, accuracy
    4. Stock: determines trigger type, recoil, accuracy
    5. Optics: determines reticle type, zoom, trigger type

Definitely need to be some sort of vehicles - rovers, hovercraft, limited-altitude skiffs, etc.

should the Devs opt to include a random chance of a solar storm

Also: a quick way to make sure nobody plays a planet would be Radiation storms on normal nodes.

The operative word is random. The effects would not necessarily be permanent throughout the mission. The storm comes and passes, and all is well again.

  3. So, Venus...

IRL, Venus is a rather inhospitable place, with an atmosphere consisting of 96% CO2, with trace amounts of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid, shrouded by an opaque layer of highly reflective clouds of sulfuric acid. Venus's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism. Almost a thousand impact craters on Venus are evenly distributed across its surface.

How this should relate to Warframe:

I fully acknowledge that most of the planets, moons, and dwarf planets used as locations in Warframe have been terraformed at one point or another by one faction or another (well, except Earth, but that's for another thread). That said, given its proximity to the sun, THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY VENUS HAS AN ICY ENVIRONMENT. It's too close for even its poles to freeze, even if water was reintroduced via terraforming. Venus should be rocky, hot (the actual surface temp averages 462C), with an orange sky (as described by the Soviet Venera probes), with a multitude of active volcanoes; terraforming might smooth things out, maybe reduce the cloud cover and volcanic activity, but the heat is mostly solar.

    What I propose:

It's no secret that the Devs are looking to redesign Venus. Between the heat, trace levels of strong acids in the air, and dense clouds of acid, I suggest that, similar to the storms that affect Ceres and Sedna, random heat and corrosive procs would force the occupation of the surface to be dependent on shield-domes to protect from the heat and acidic environment. As you move out of civilized areas, you would be dependent on personal shields (or vehicular shields, for Corpus caravans moving between settlements/outposts), environmental generator stations akin to those on Europa, and/or localized generators akin to those used in The Jordas Verdict. Without shields, the environment would cause armor to degrade over time while outside. A happy side effect of this is that this provides lore to explain why the Grineer have not been able to invade or occupy Venus, as the Grineer susceptible to both heat and acid. Random acidic rain could compound the environmental effects.

Venus also has a much weaker magnetic field compared to Earth, which actually results from the interaction of solar winds on its ionosphere, rather than being generated by a fluid core (like Earth), leaving it susceptible to cosmic radiation. This could throw an interesting monkeywrench into any surface activities, should the Devs opt to include a random chance of a solar storm which could potentially add the irradiated environment seen in some sorties and events, or to possibly wreak havoc on electronics, communications, and perhaps even the transference connection.

And on top of all that, an orange sky would just be cool.

Hat tip to my clanmate WNxSpectre for helping me flesh this out and for convincing me to post.

    Thoughts?

I submit to you that the thing to consider is: Are you using Body Count or not, and, what kind of melee weapon are you using.

    • If you are using Body Count on a weapon with good crit chance, then Blood Rush out performs True Steel in the long run and it's overkill to have both of them because as you say, your crits get "saturated" basically.
    • If you are not using Body Count and have a weapon with mediocre crit chance, then you need your crits to stack fast more than stack high, so True Steel helps you get into reds and your combo will time out before your crit chance ever reaches saturation.

    That's what I'm thinking anyway.

Or, go ahead and use Body Count, Blood Rush, True Steel, and True Punishment and get purple crits

Does does this include screen shots or not? I can manipulate an image all day, but I can't draw anything remotely organic or humanoid...

  6. This bug also seems to occur when trying to equip a weapon if you've currently got an empty slot. So it seems like the empty slot is the problem.

(Occured with my secondary weapon, but can't confirm others as UI freezes when I try to unequip primary or melee weapon.)

    YES! This too.

  7. Trying to take off my 2ndary and melee to do the Bow Only Sortie, and every time I try to equip None, my UI freezes and I have to Alt+F4. As soon as I click None, it highlights, but from that point none of the other buttons on the UI perform any action.

Guess no sorties for me today...

  8. From the Rhino Prime codex entry one can deduce that the tenno and warframes share a symbiotic relationship. If we know who/what the tenno are, the question becomes who/what are warframes.

Thought: Since the Infested see the Warframes as kindred flesh, and according to the Sanctuary lore, we know the Infested were major players in the eventual fall of the Orokin, what if the Warframes are technocyte flesh reprogrammed/brainwashed/Stockholmed by the Orokin to defend them? Once they saw all was lost, the Orokin put them in stasis (cryopods) until Natah came to the origin system and "freed" them, connecting them to the Children of the Ten Zero (Ten-0). Would also explain why Primes are Orokin technology.

  9. I see transferal as a way to transfer tenno consciousness into the warframe. So probably whatever is the warframe going through, tenno can actually sense.  So the torture made on Valkyr was on both tenno and "suit" and that's what gave this warframe its unique features. "What doesn't kills you makes you stronger"

"if you die in the Matrix, do you die in real life?"

  10. The only bug I'm getting with sharkwing is huge performance drops...

Are you still seeing the performance drops? It's so bad I just skip any submersible mission. If I can't solo it (and most of the time even when I can), it's absolutely unplayable.

Example: I just did the submersible quest mission for 2nd Dream and I would literally get 30-60 sec of action then it would freeze for 60-120 sec (sometimes longer). When I'm not playing solo, I end up dead or DCing from the host. I monitor my frame rate, and that isn't changing, even when it's frozen, so I don't think it's a GPU issue.

  11. Was in my arsenal modding my Ash and I accidentally uninstalled a mod. I spun my scroll wheel to get to the end of my mod list so I could put it back, but when I did the screen froze. I hit [Esc] to see if going out/going back in would fix it then I got this and the UI stuck.

I could still use the chat window, but I couldn't bring up menus, The ONLY construct I could interact with was Chat.

  12. Cause there hasn't been a non-Tenno wearer that has succeeded in using Warframe abilities. And abilities are unique to the Tenno itself, not granted by the suit. The Warframe is more like a Magnifying glass : focusing sunlight enough for it to burn.

To paraphrase Vor's commentary when he appears in the Void, Tenno do not use the energy of the Warframes, The energy of the Warframes is the Tenno. The Tenno are the light, the Warframe, simply the vessel.

However I do think this is a brilliant idea for a 3rd companion type, kind of a merging of the semi-Warframe AI Sentinels and the wholly organic free-willed kubrow. I can see this evolving from an event or questline involving Alad V - now let's just see if DE agrees... maybe by U20?
