Very productive response. How does this contribute to the discussion? Obviously you've missed the point and are quick to defend this new system because it has all these fancy and sleek new features, but lacks core functionality that a menu system like this needs. I'll say it again: this is a UI designed and tailored for CONSOLES, and last I checked I wasn't playing with a controller.

Will this be another game that caters to consoles and neglects the PC user base? Are we to be restricted thanks to consoles taking priority? I sure hope not, but it certainly seems like it might with this latest "update".

  2. A well crafted post that I whole heartedly agree with. Unfortunately it's bound to be overlooked as people flood in defending it saying "it's new, give it time". Sacrificing the functionality of the UI for the sake immersion has gone too far in my opinion. It's clear the UI was designed for console users, which would be fine, except we aren't on consoles.

  3. Why does everyone quickly jump on the offensive when someone states their opinion of dislike? Did I misread the top of this page? Does it not say "Warframe Forums -> Warframe *FEEDBACK* -> *FEEDBACK* Categories -> UI" (I put the important words in capital letters just so people aren't confused)? I'm not saying that OP made the best, well-thought out post, but it's not like he's wrong. The UI is obviously designed for consoles and telling people that all you have to do is press escape for it to be "just like the old UI" is a load of crap, how do you not understand the difference? DE may have spent a lot of time and effort on this new UI overhaul, but since this game is still in BETA and we are ENCOURAGED to provide feedback, that is exactly what people are doing on this board. They are expressing their dislike and disapproval, some better than others of course. Instead of telling the people who are doing WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING ON THIS BOARD to just wait and stop complaining, how about you contribute better to the discussion? You may not agree, but simply saying "get used to it", "press esc, it's the same", or "they spent a lot of time on this you should appreciate it". We can both appreciate the time they took to do this update, and provide feedback (that's NEGATIVE or POSITIVE feedback).

As for people saying people were "begging for an update and now they are just crying and saying it's bad" should maybe think that if this many people are pointing out that it's a step backwards, maybe they have a point? Maybe they were excited to have this new overhaul, but were disappointed by what they got.

  4.  There's something people call immersion. Might be surprising to you, but some people like it.

Also, there's an alternative in the pause menu where the features are located.

Immersion is fine, but it's clearly been taken too far here. They've clearly slapped a console UI on a PC game (or at least, the pc version of a game). Some may be fine with this, however for others (and clearly this is a lot of people) this is a major problem. The navigation system alone has clearly sacrificed far too much usability for immersion.

  5. I have to agree. The mod screen and navigation are two things that instantly seemed like a step back for me. The star chart/map was a nice way of seeing an overview of the missions and which ones you needed to do to get to where you wanted and also showed the names of missions. In terms of the design there seemed nothing wrong with it.

This new navigation system seems to go for a more fancy and stylish look while lacking some functionality, clarity, and ease of use. The planets (of what I have unlocked so far) are all on the same "ring" and I have no way of seeing the other planets to see where I wish to go. So now if I want to see how to get to, say, Pluto, I have to leave the game and google it to see what connects to it? This also becomes a problem when trying to see how the progression of the planets are unlocked. In the star chart you could easily see how they linked together from one planet to another so you knew which mission you needed to complete to unlock which planet as with multiple paths this meant you could focus down one to get to the planet you wanted. With this new navigation interface there is no way to see this. This seems like a lot of flashy animations and a lot of style put into this interface, but the usability has been lost. Was it necessary to redesign the star chart? Would that not have worked as an overlay instead of this? I don't see why not, and would have been far better.

The mod screen is huge issue. I'll let this image speak for itself.

Once again, style over actual usability. If I can't see the mods description while I mouse over it, how am I to know what it is? Do I really have to change the sorting just so that this mod isn't at the top and I can then read it?

I'm open to changes in the UI, but this overhaul does indeed seem like a step backwards in some parts. These are by far the biggest issues. With the exception of how it seems that the game is now designed for more immersion rather than being easily usable, other issues are mainly personal taste, and not necessarily a bad thing.
