    Even if I'm not actively using a melee weapon the entire mission, slide attacks here and there are generally enough to keep it up. With that, you can drop Narrowminded entirely if you want to give you a 10m range on Paralysis and a 75m range on Ripline . However, I do not do that. I run a maxed Narrowminded, deal with my Ripline being shorter than a bullet jump and the super small range of Paralysis.

    I definitely know what you mean with Paralysis not working super consistently because of animation locks. Having said that, in my old build (299% str 167% duration 135% efficiency 34% range) it only costs like 3-5e per so I'd just spam it between slide attacks if it didn't work the first time. As long as I kept my combo counter up I could generally avoid needing it until ~220 on gunners/bombards with that build. Using my Warcry build now instead of Hysteria (in part because of the nerf to her ult, in part because Hysteria not scaling off Acolyte mods makes it comparatively bad) I have run up to ~280 and still not needed Paralysis, so I might have been a little overzealous in defending the ability earlier lol

    Did we.. did we just come to a sort of middle ground where we acknowledge each others perspective?  On the internet?!  Awesome!  So yeah, I wasn't ever trying to put down paralysis. i was thinking more of the team game.  when you are up against the ~280's have fast does your Nekros or Vauban drop?  Something to grab their attention and pull the threat away I personally think would just be /more/ beneficial.  That's all I ever meant.  Cheers!

Even 3.75 is a ton given the ability's abysmal range, inferiority to regular weapons and her small energy pool. Mesa's is the same but she has a 50m range and the best pistols in the game, and people are still calling that too high on her. In what world is that reasonable for Valkyr? You could make an argument that she doesn't use much energy because 1 of her abilities stays up with an augment, 1 is situational and drains shields and 2 are outright useless but that's a problem with the abilities not with her energy usage lol

    Btw, she used to have the highest raw mDPS spamming slide attack. Excal did more per hit, but because her slide attack multi-hit his actual DPS was lower on individual targets. His average damage was higher because of the waves, and all regular melee weapons were somewhere decidedly below that, ignoring CL finishers. Wukong has always done the least of the three, with less range and lower damage per hit than Excal (extra 15% power strength), and more range but less multistrike than Valkyr. Then Shadow Debt happened, and now regular melee out-scales all of them by a wide margin.

     

    I'm not trying to be rude but I really can't follow your train of thought at all.

     

    @Gorila_Azul, the PF augment caps his crit at 100%. It can only red crit with cats or Naramon, it cannot be extended past 100% with normal means. Additionally, you seem to not be aware of how Maiming Strike functions, because that grants any weapon over 10% crit chance 100% crit on slide attacks and this 100% (or, extra 90%, whichever you prefer) crit chance also scales with Blood Rush. What you are apparently concerned about is already in the game.

    I do not believe you are trying to be rude, so no worries there.

     

    Admittedly, I do not run any augments on Valkyr.  And yes to something you said a while back, i have been up against the enemies where you need to bypass the armor... kinda have to to have any challenge.  Raids and Sorties are too easy with a good group, and since the Solar Rails update, It's not even worth while doing the 3 hour survival'sand what not. (though admittedly for me at least, around the 90 min to 2 hour mark it stats to get a little crazy).  I also will not play with Randumbs either.  I have seen too many high mastery / still bad players.  I am a console gamer through and through, but I cannot defend Xbox'ers in general.  Not everyone, before I get flamed at, but as a whole.  Disclaimer over.

    One of the things I really like about Waframe is that there really is not a single perfect build, but several good builds to fit a playstyle, all equally or close to equally effective. 


    As I was saying, I do not run any augments on Valkyr, though I am pondering the Hysteria mod that lets her pounce around, its name slips me at the moment.  But I rarely use even half of my energy on her.  And even then, it is because there are a handful of Leech Eximus's around.  I mean, I can hold up Hysteria indefinetly, but I typically pop in and out as to not build that pool. use it to heal up, use her armor for the most part until we are getting to the aforementioned enemies when it is needed... I do not want a big damage pool build up. I do not want to maintain that cost increase, and as you have said, base melee is generally better.  The big issue I have with paralysis is it doesn't work.  It doesn't work on enemies in certain animations, or knockdowned, or several little cases.  If you build the range you might hurt your duration/effeciency. Im sure if you build with paralysis in mind, you could prolly make it better, but it wont defeat its inability to interupt, or its bugs.  I could even do without ripline.  I use it.  It's fine, no complaints... but even berserkers generally have a threat cc of some sort.

     

    Though I am missing something somewhere, if you don't mind me asking what I feel is a dumb question.  How do you only cast Warcry once?  I recast mine like every 30 something seconds.

     

    Also, never mind typos and misspellings... ive been driving for a day and a half and I am exhausted.

    I never said Paralysis was useless, I said it didn't fit the character.  She is a tank role character.  Like any other MMO, each character / class has a role and hers is tank.  Her offense isn't that high.  If you have a good melee, then cast paralysis for the armor ignoring finishers, then cast warcry for the buff, and /then/ be able to attack.  I never said it was useless, just didn't make sense.   I still say Val could still be nerfed a bit more... She does not use that much energy, her armor is already roughly after mods like an 86 percent damage reduction.  I always keep the key on to minimize my shields so there is nothing to prevent rage from energy restore.. she solo's many sortie missions fine, and works well in raid.  I was just merely saying a unique ability that no one else has would be a threat generator because it fits the role mechanically, fits the character by lore standards, and is party beneficial.

I have been saying for ages that I want to remove Paralysis from the ability list.  To me personally, it does not make sense to have a random CC in there.Rip Line is essentially fine the way it is, except as OP said chasing down the rag doll. Warcry could use a bump in base duration, except her entire concept is based off defense, not offense.  Warcry is merely the balance Offense and Defense. 

     

    So this is my thing here.  /If/ you want a CC power on here, so she has Mobility (Ripline) Offense (Warcry) CC (Paralysis) and Defense (Hysteria) filling all criteria, remove Paralysis and put in Threat.  Essentially the exact same mechanics as like Nekros's Terrify, except in reverse.  She does a battle scream as she does with most of her ability's taking a stance for animation in the way of Bring it On... like snapping into the Hysteria stance, except not staying actually in it.  All enemies within the range turn their focus towards Valkyr. 

     

    This is a team move, as can save them from being over ran and murdered in the face, it backs up her role as tank, and there is no other threat generator amongst the warframes.

I get a lot of the arguments saying "It isn't that hard, just key share, or co op" or whatever.  I get it, I do.  This is meant as a game to be played with other people.  Fine.  Some people get lucky, ok.  I also agree that it is fine to bet on the RNG for the mesa part.  So before I see the same argument again, Im just trying to say I get it.  That being said...

     

    There are two frames (Mayhaps three) that I keep seeing compared to, and why people should just buck up.  Those frames are Hydroid, Vauban, and sometimes Nekros.  I want to say how the mesa version and these differ, greatly, and why they are much more acceptable than Mesa's.

     

    Hydroid - What a fun one.  Farm the beacons, make the key. Use the key, fight a boss.  Hope the boss gives you the piece you need.  Why is this better than Mesa's?  Time consuming, and maybe annoying, but you can in fact do it.  You can farm the beacons.  May take a while, may take some work, but it can be done, on your own time.

     

    Vauban- Alert only.  OK, kind of a %^& move there, but it is an acceptable thing because at the very least, when it does show up, it tells you the part.  So you could literally just watch for that alert.  If you play with anyone else, have the smartphone app, watch the alert website, you can be informed somehow someway that the last piece you need is an alert now. It is also up for a certain length of time.  I was in a stage once when an alert for one coordinate popped up.  By the time I got out of the mission (I had 2 whole defense waves to finish.... oh no) and loaded on my ship, the coordinate alert was gone.  yippee.

    Nekros - just like Hydroid.  Pain in the ^ but it can be done, and on your own time.

    I know I don't speak for everyone, but I have a full time job, and a family.  In between taking care of those, I still have to get shopping and errands done, bills and banking, maybe sleeping and eating if it's available... and if I am lucky, some game time in... and I like my games.  I have nearly 400 hours logged into Warframe but most of those have been logged between midnight and 6am when I get that chance.  And yes, I could buy the platinum, and I have spent a fair few dollars on plat because I do like this game and DE, but it was my choice.  Cosmetic upgrades, boosters, resources I got tired of farming for... and mostly to use on trade chat.  It seems though that I have to be available at two or so particular times of day, to get a coordinate to then maybe attempt a run on Alad V to maybe get a part.  I simply am not available for that, so it is skip her or buy her... that's it.

     

    TL:DR version
    All I am saying is that they really shouldnt do both of having alert only reward plus grind.... Unlike Vauban in which you only need to catch certain ones over time, you have to catch as many as possible, just to earn a maybe.  That's BS.

  6. Prior to the update I built most of my frames around one or two abilities... allowing me to ignore the others.  I had thought about this before, but it is much more obvious now that there is constantly all 4 abilities at the ready whenever. 

     

    So my discussion is this:  Is there a warframe ability that you just don't think fits the frame, or something that might work better?  I don't mean to necessarily make it stronger or more OP, but something that just makes sense.

     

    For me, it is Paralysis on Valkyr.  It doesn't seem to fit the character.  I can rationalize anything else. I would suggest swapping out Paralysis with something that draws enemy aggro.   Use zipline for mobility to get somewhere so that your allys can stop generating threat, boost melee with warcry, pop hysteria for defense and then use the new ability to draw Threat to take the pressure off your party.

     

    TLDR version Give Valkyr something to increase threat.

  7. uh pc is better at everything basically. The main advantage is the mouse, you can aim at individual enemies, headshot easily etc.

     

    Maybe, but I am one of those evil people who absolutely despise playing with a k&m. There's nothing worse imo. 

     

    Also, after reading this thread, I decided to get her... and she is a lot of fun, even at low level.  With a ranked up rejuv aura already on her, I was able to start strong.

  8. Another reason not many people play her(at least on consoles) is that she requires higher rank mods and her Energy Vamp ability requires aiming which is harder on controller

    Can you tell me more differences between pc and console?

  9. Since warframe launched on the xbone, I have yet to see a trinity. I have been debating getting her. Is she worth it or is there a reason I never see her? The only frame I see a lot of aside from starting is rhino. I get he's good, just not my style.

  10. I knew about the change as far as mods are concerned... I just wasn't sure if things like armor and base energy are reset to rank 0 stats. or if they continued to level up from 30, like new game + style.  I also knew it didnt affect mastery which is irritating but understandable.  Thanks for clearing up the issue, folks!
