The Grineer are bulky, armoured, ugly and purely brute to look at, they have no 'beauty' to them, even the designs that are thin in proportion, like the snipers or heavy gunners, are bulbous and protruding where they shouldn't be.

Wait, did you start talking about Atlas?

But seriously it'd look a tad out of place, closest thing we'll get to fat is something around Vauban Prime's figure, he's big but not really muscular, a real thicc boi

  2. Honestly this isn't a small problem and I think myself, and many others who have waited years for DE to do something proper for scythes, wouldn't mind waiting a few more months for a non half-assed solution.

I honestly think scythes should go the Dark Split Sword route and just have a stance that transforms the current reapers into larger, proper scythes.

That's one new stance and effectively 5 new weapons and we finally get the "pickaxe" problem squared away, with everyone happy.

Alternatively, I'm fine with  just creating a seperate, new great-scythe weapon class but if that does happen, please give us an Ether Great-Scythe.

  3. These were pretty much my thoughts exactly. But there should still be a unique great-scythe stance. It could take a while to make but it solves the community split and I'd honestly prefer it to just giving it heavy blade anims which still arent very scythe-like.

Ive wanted proper scythes since 4 years ago, I can wait a few months if it means we get that

  4. So since World on Fire is supposed to be operating at peak intensity at 100% drain, why not give fire procs dealt by WoF start melting armor at 5-10% per tick?

This gives Ember more risk/reward tradeoff since she'll have to get closer to enemies in endgame but they will be easier to kill.

Also a suggestion but why not have accelerant also grant armor melting properties but only to Ember's abilities and at a lower rate than WoF, then just have it's armor melt value stack with WoF's

  5. How about start by giving him actual javelins rather than little energy swords? Or instead rebirth the whole thing, I say we have the name changed to Lance Thrust and Excal summons an actual lance and charges forward through enemies for big, moddable puncture damage, using it with Exalted blade consumes extra energy but shoots out four energy lances from Excal on activation, each traveling the same distance as Excal's charge.

But as cools as that sounds I'd almost prefer something else for Excal though, maybe give him summonable knight armor or something.

  6. Uh I just spent an hour mining stuff in cetus and at the results screen I'm getting an error by the name of the topic title and it keeps trying to update and failing everytime. I have an abort update option but is that really gonna throw everything away I just finished mining?

    Please help?

  7. Aside from fixing rift surge, only QoL I really wanna see on Limbo is his 4 forcibly trapping enemies in the rift via invisible walls around the edge, If your playing with anything under fairly high duration, it closes down a bit too fast or enemies seem to just B-line out of it anyways leaving your teammates with nothing to shoot and annoyed. Or if they're on the edge while statis'd they end up in this annoying loop of freezing and unfreezing between two planes just making them difficult to hit.

Also cataclysmic continuum should really also replenish the size of the rift, it eventually shrinks too small and fairly easily due to above mentioned problems and needs a recast anyways.

  8. Don't worry I'm a big boy, I can take it but I getcha, but one or 2 of those was a topic I started tho. I won't lie, I don't frequent the forums anywhere near as much as I play but is Chroma's spectral scream a hot topic here? Most I see of it is just agreeing that it's piss but few suggestions to fix it.

I suggested a fix/buff but got no replies, yeah it was wordy (terrible habit, really) but I've seen topics open with wordier.

  9. Well I wouldn't say all of it was pointless, I just went into detail of a solution (the problem too, but still)

And the tangent wasn't at katanas but the realisim thing that comes up every time the idea of a full length scythe is mentioned. I was just kind of annoyed.

And yeah I can be a wordy guy, it's a bad habit

  10. I came here today just to this post about this OP, no one asked for a giant katanas, katanas are already top-tier melee weps too, their cool but completely left-field. If Scythes suck (which they kinda do) and are painfully underused (which they certainly are), I suggest converting them into actual scythes rather than the "pickaxes" we have mucking the place up that no one feels deserved to be called scythes.

Update the scythe weapon type into  slow, longarm (5-6ft average when unsheathed) sweeping weapons that maybe specializes in dual damage types, A scythe's blade is heavy and carries a lot of momentum so 50.0 Slash/50.0 Impact/20.0 Puncture as just as an idea of the numbers they can get, and maybe a guaranteed knockdown on charge attacks that extends the range a bit for the swing. It's fresh, its unique, it'd look badass and would be a great weapon for tending to crowds as one tends to his farm to reap the benefits which fits the theme. I honestly don't care if the models are just lengthened and re-proportioned, a full redesign isn't necessary as aesthetically they are nice, just off in terms of size/proportion for a scythe.

As for stances, have one focus on slow wide attacks while holding it near the bottom of the handle and another that focuses on quicker close range attacks that keep most of the handle pressed near your body, very stylish.

And before we get to realism, no sword the size of the Gram or Galatine was brought into battle and used primarily against infantry, and Katana's themselves are useless against the stuff out main enemies wear

    Spoiler

    it's armor btw

so save it, we're futuristic space ninjas powered by space magic that twirl like ballerinas while wielding 6 and a half foot greatswords like paperweights, a scythe of all things is the last thing to worry about when it comes to realism here.

Chroma's first ability could be useful but if some mobs facetank you or attack from range then you just fked up your mobility and not really hit targets. Also not scaling with the enemies level

I made a nice suggestion but my thread was completely ignored:sadcry: so I'll just post it here

Hitting 1 would start up the ability as normal but:

-Now angled up a bit more so it's mostly shooting straight, also the cone is narrowed up a bit. Status is reduced to 30% and max base damage increased to 350-400. This would give the move more of a focus on damage on your immediate targets.

Squeezing the shoot button will cause the cone to expand to a 90-120 degree angle and 1.5x the range, creating a nice blanket of elemental fury as most dragons do. The major change here is to it's function though, damage is halved but status chances increases to 80% giving this form a focus on spreading procs.

Rolling would also function as an attack by coating Chroma's roll with wheel of his element, it causes knockdown and a proc to only the first enemy he hits. This attack does an unmoddable 400/600/800/1000 damage with a 50-50 split between impact and element.

Completely optional extra: rolling also leaves behind a thin elemental trail on the ground he's rolled over. This trail has a 100% proc chance, lasts for 2 unmoddable seconds and deals no damage, damage based procs will deal spectral scream's current damage.

Not optional: Chroma's pelt wings extend while he's wearing it during spectral scream :)

-Afterburn- (now "Dragon's Gunfire") Replaces the larger cone with a chargeable elemental energy blast.

Squeezing shoot will cause chroma to begin charging an elemental blast, the longer it's charged the bigger it's blast radius and higher damage. Each second (min: 1, max: 5) accumulates 100 damage and ups the radius by 2m with a base of 200 dmg and 5m radius. Each blast carries a 100% status chance and is about the size of Chroma's head, the focus here is to give Chroma a bit of burst dmg and allow for ranged procs

  12. So with chroma being a dragon and knowing that his first ability was to spray a swathe of element was very cool, but his actual ingame ability is incredibly underwhelming and not very helpful to be honest.

So an idea for some slight tweaking would be to give it some two modes:

Hitting 1 would start up the ability as normal but:

-Now angled up a bit more so it's mostly shooting straight, also the cone is narrowed up a bit. Status is reduced to 30% and max base damage increased to 350-400. This would give the move more of a focus on damage on your immediate targets.

I feel this properly turns Spectral Scream into a useful tool while still reinforcing Chroma's elemental dragon theme. What are you guys' thoughts?

  13. I say,

Bring his old slash dash back where he just dashes forward through enemies but they freeze in place until he stops traveling then take 300-500 slash damage with a 100 dmg slash proc at rank 3.

While we're at it lets switch out radial javelin too, it could just be me but I've have had terribly inconsistent performance since it just bumped down to 3 like missing enemies just infront of me or even relatively close or hitting nothing at all. Lets perhaps give him an omnidirectional slash that staggers/pushes back enemies for a second or 2 and does damage. And while exalted it launches vertical waves outward in 5-8 directions around Excal.

Then again these sound like they'd belong to a samurai frame than to a knight like Excal. Just my 2 cents though

  14. Console guy here, I used Discharge a bit and am I missing something? It seems to turn everyone in range into a tesla coil, I used it in a MD grineer sortie and stunned everything within about 20 meters. I'll agree the damage stops really meaning much at 40+ (with 180% power!) but enemies seem to break out of it 2-4 seconds before the abilities ends. Is this a glitch?

The cc is good but a slight duration buff would be nice, 15-18 second base duration would be perfect. Also I see what people mean about the arc range, it's a bit pitiful.

Now about riot shied, it does seem a bit useless due to all of it's drawbacks, just lowered energy cost would fix it. And if half to use secondaries, it should atleast look like we have to, I held off on looking at Volt's rework til I hit him and was expecting him to hold out an arm out in front so maybe adding in that pose could atleast give a visible reason to be limited to secondaries.

And lastly the name, can we just change it back to Overload, Discharge just sounds a bit underwhelming for the ability and you won't find anything pretty if you search that in Google, or maybe even just Tesla (Coil) or Lightning Storm or STATIC Discharge!

Also last thing I just wanted to chime in on, Volt's prime effect for discharge should drop lightning bolts on every enemy hit like Shock, this actually happened for me one once with Overload when Volt Prime came and I was sad when I couldn't replicate it, I guess because it was a glitch.
