I think the key to remember is that these mini events aren't necessarily like the larger events of the past, these are short little "grindfests" in order to test new game modes. The event is less about being a dynamic event than it is about stress testing new mechanics.
I don't really see how running is testing a new mechanic.
Level swaps have been done in the past, and frequently.
-
I'unno, Buzlok's comparable to Boltor Prime when you consider its fire rate and homing ability.
And then you figure out it's semi auto, and that boltor doesn't need to "home in". Boltor just kills straight away.
-
I really wouldn't care about this issue, but the level of horrible this event has reached struck a nerve.
Making new events vs. Making current missions more complex and immersive
I won't deny, there were few well done events, such as gradivus and arid fear, but everything else was a grindfest(even gradivus, but greedy milk had to be crushed). This last one is a general disaster. 99% of the mission is running past the pointless spawns of infested.
The complexity of current missions and latest events is at a bare minimum. Kill a few things, run around, repeat a few times, done. Things don't even "get interesting" anymore.(whatever happened to frequency of that happening?)
It would be much more appreciated if there was an update featuring chained missions with some generic story, rather than just another 10 minute repeatable grindfest of a mission type.
Same goes for events. This one feels like bad dad joke. As if someone thought very hard that this would be cool against what society he's presenting it to is telling him.
New weapons vs. Actually balancing current ones
Sure, balance is an unattainable goal, but working towards it, and putting effort into it, is by far better time spent than making more of unbalanced.
Who on earth cares about a new shiny fancy pointy-shooty, when there's already a 10x better one.
The game revolves around dealing damage and killing stuff with truckloads of hp. Why should I suddenly start using an inferior new piece of equipment?
Latest example, Buzzlock vs Latron(Prime). I don't need 75 bullets and 50% more fire rate if I can 1shot with a Latron, while Buzzlock will only dent a couple armor plates.
There have been weapons added that are beyond inferior, simply for coonless and completion factor.
And for heaven's sake, ammo pool and fixed pickup amounts. The whole gameplay is so bloody hindered by this dumb mechanic, it's actually baffling how someone thought it would work this way in a long run.
Math is pretty simple on this one. 2 weapons, 1 low RoF high damage, other high RoF low damage, same amount of ammo picked up. Guess which weapon is going to keep firing after 1 minute. It's like that tortoise and the hare story. The point of the story is not the problem. Problem is that it's being used incorrectly.
Game isn't more fun if you take away the fun maker.(gun ammo, for those that don't get it yet).
New mods vs. Redoing the whole thing entirely
Mod system is a tragedy of its own. First, some simple logic. We keep getting more mods, while equipment mod slots remain unchanged.
Right, I believe everyone sees a huge flaw in that.
Second, some more simple logic. The game revolves around killing stuff quickly, and we keep getting damage mods, while devs expect us to use utility mods, as in, other 90% mods.
Why are we still getting new mods? Why isn't the system being reworked instead? What's the damn point of releasing more mods when there's a truckload of unused ones lying around?
Ever heard of recycling?
This isn't about resource allocation, all of these comparisons involve same people, just differently assigned.
This was far less tedious to write than running a single event mission...
edit(appropriately worded) : Parkour is still a huge sack of hound excrement. Please do tend to it immediately.

I have already said that you're welcome to play the game any way you like, as is everyone else. Maybe you missed that part somehow.
Do what you want.
All right, come back to me when you hit 500h. peace.
-
And your condescending attitude is not amusing in the slightest.
EDIT: I saw that ninja edit.
Superiority? I'm just mocking the general opinion that one shouldn't use top gear in games in order to have the most fun. You're not the only one and it's this way of thinking that cuts devs too much slack and produces boring, monotonous games.
Just to be clear, nothing against you personally, just your opinion.
-
Because the missions themselves are rather low level and have relatively weak enemies, and instagibbing them with one button press only contributes the boredom?
Play how you want. If pressing 4 to instagib groups of enemies is fun for you, then by all means, keep doing it. People like different things.
You do understand that everything instagibs when modded well? You also do understand that 99% of the playerbase(you being the 1%) uses instagib builds?
So what, I should be running through an empty instance just because using instagib abilities "makes" the game boring? Your logic is interesting, continue.
-
I hear ya. This game is an inventory/gear RPG and once you have all the gear you want and have it all powered up you begin to notice the absence of end game and the very anemic diversity in general gameplay as well.
Don't get me wrong I love this game, but I actually started playing a new profile in order to FEEL while playing this game again. Profi-...power numbs the feeling.
Exactly, and unfortunately I'm not one to watch the same movie twice, unless it's a masterpiece.
-
Actually normally I don't care about what builds other people use or what abilities they spam. But in this case you're complaining that the missions are boring, unchallenging and repetitive, but you just press 4 every time any kind of opposition appears to instantly wipe them out (at least that could be assumed from your post).
Maybe that is part of the reason that the mission is so boring to you? I'm not saying that there aren't other reasons, of course.
I don't understand. Why shouldn't I use all skills at my disposal? Why should I make my own artificial difficulty? How come isn't that a dev job?
-
A video game made you press buttons on a mouse and keyboard?! In seriousness, i understand wanted harder challenges but the first part of event is aimed at lower level players. I for one appreciate the new events and things DE adds to the game. At the least, add constructive criticism by saying how it can be improved.
It's not my job to come up with content. Also, I've done my deal of suggesting in the past. No notes taken so I won't do it anymore.
-
You're right, it does gets repetitive after a while. Maybe you should take a break and take your time completing the event?
I've actually just been logging on for events and potato/forma alerts.
This game is a general bore when you get to the point where the weapon's you've modified are far better than anything that comes out.
-
Some things just aren't for everyone, it seems. If you don't like doing it, then don't do it. I know that is used a lot, but that's just because it's true.
Edit: Also, 666 posts, I don't think I can respond to anything anymore.
And how exactly does that forbid me from posting my discontent?
Frames have more than just one ability, though. You're not forced to spam 4 to the exclusion of everything else.
Oh boy, another one of those "I'll play an inferior build and complain about others using something better".
-
It's not just warframe where you have to repeat stuff like that.
I mean, In Skyrim you, run run run, draw bow/sword, kill, run run run, kill some more, run run, shout, go to new place, run run, sword fight..
I think I missed the whole point
You missed the point where skyrim actually offers a great deal of lore and literally scenery, while this is a randomly generated map with 2-3 dialogues that repeat through all 15 missions you have to do. Also, I don't recall doing a dungeon in skyrim 15 times to get a desired item.
Aside thousand mods present for the game. Yeah, it's just like warframe. You are totally correct. (edit: I feel like I need to highlight sarcasm here)
-
Spam 4 to win player detected!
Yeah and you're a saint that uses a stick to kill enemies just so it lasts longer...
-
Run, run some more, run some more, hack a terminal, wait, press 4 occasionally, hack a terminal, wait some more, press 4 a few more times. run some more, press 4, empty a clip into the 2 "bosses", press x, run back, press x again, and then run a S#&$ ton more.
5 times just to open a new mission? Lol, right.
This game needs a change of scenery when it comes to missions and alerts...

Real balance? nope
Any sort of balance? lol... nope
Try balancing a knife on its edge. See how well that goes and you'll have the answer to whether ANY sort of balance, pvp or pve, is possible.

Valkyr camps the spawn room doors for 70ish seconds (Hysteria with duration)
1 tiny problem. how exactly does she unlock max duration in the beginning? everybody is complaining about fast caps. fast caps don't net xp. next flawed argument...
If you let the enemy team get that much xp in the outdoors phase you wouldn't win even if you had your own valkyr.
You can guard objectives and camp spawn points
With rush and Warcry max range you can slow down targets that try to zoom past you and catch them
Yeah, I'll see you try that on a dagger skate in low gravity mode. Not to mention spending 100 energy means you're pretty much depleted for anything else. next flawed argument...
Shell reactivate it and kill you along the way
And what, my 3 teammates just incidentally turned into statues?
I'm starting to sound as if I play a valkyr and want this to stay as it is... Forget it, you'll just have to learn the hard way.
-
Then the Valkyr you encountered was a n00b, because i play as Valkyr and its pretty straight forward... Hysteria is my first mod to activate, i just rush towards the objectives activating everything, and on the last room i camp at the spawn door and open the power core for my teammates to destroy it. I don't die not even once with Valkyr. As a main Valkyr player, in my opinion Godmode have to go, it's not balanced for PvP.
So a n00b was doing exactly what you described. Ready to change your statement?
With hysteria as your first ability you waste 100 energy and anyone smart enough will just run away and engage other opponents. You're left with 0 energy and they have better guns. Guess what happens next.
My guess is you haven't been facing exactly pro's either.
-
Play slower, then. It fixes all your problems.
That's like telling someone to drive slower because the government has their head so far up their arse that they can't fix the roads.
-
The problem is that she can camp on the spawn room door and kill everyone that tries to leave, she can revive falled allies and you can't do nothing about it, and she can activate all the objectives and no one can do nothing about it.
You can run behind her and deactivate. I've caught countless valkyr doing this and just kited them around. Also, as I've pointed out in a thread, there's a problem with scaling, meaning that if you get to the core too soon, you'll have no damage to destroy it with.
What De Should'v Been Doing Instead Of What They Have Been Doing

Oh yeah, I'm sure too. I wouldn't have a problem with any of this if these issues weren't persistent from the beginning.
Everything I listed is an issue that's been present, and warned about, ever since the "we're out of beta" update.
