  1. I saw this also today.   Trinity wouldn't reduce all the damage to zero and I would still see damage numbers appear if they were using Quick Thinking and Rage.  The life bar would just shuffle around like crazy.  Reflex Guard would only help if they weren't swinging like a madman with the Nami Solo, which they were.  If it was a glitch I could understand but it only worked for one person in that case.  Last but not least they pulled this off at the start of the match when no mods would be active yet.

  2. Been playing awhile now and I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head that I think belongs on the Warframe Boards.

I love melee combat in this game.  However other than the glaive they all work pretty much the same.  Now just to be clear I mean the actual implementation and not inherent damage properties like armor ignore, elemental damage or jump aoe.  A good example is blocking.

Blocking with your melee weapon is a cool idea.  The actual effect......  Not so much.  The amount of damage you prevent is less and the amount of stamina consumed is more than the damage prevented and stamina consumed simply by charging and killing my opponent or using that stamina to sprint to a better position with cover.  I have found some use in it for blocking attacks for one teammate while he revives another but that is highly situational and a very small niche use.

An interesting idea I had is if weapons had different defensive characteristics and even some penalties.  A weapon like the Fragor might find it easier to defend from heavy weapon attacks like missiles or force an enemy back when they melee however it costs more stamina to block with.  The Bo being a more utility weapon would keep you on your feet from knock down attacks like the MOA shockwaves and Heavy Grineer unit ground pounds but doesn't prevent much damage at all.  The single sword weapons like the Skana could give total damage reduction against regular weapons fire and cost less stamina while doing so but only in an arc in front of you.  Some weapons could even deflect attacks back, though I can foresee gripes about that being too much like star wars and not fitting the theme of the game.  Many of these features could even be implemented as mods. (afore mentioned reflecting attacks back.)

As for mods themselves another few thoughts.  Melee weapons "should" (I say this with with great deference and respect to the developers.....  And a lack of a better word to use.  It's late as I type this....) be highly customizable through mods to achieve vastly different melee playstyles.  A few examples.

A mod that reduces the amount of stamina used by the weapon. (could prove useful for people that like to go nuts with Fang loaded with a maxed Fury.)

A mod that when blocking prevents a percentage of damage to your sentinel.

A mod that gives BONUS damage based on the amount of damage blocked for a few seconds.  (Good for tanking.)

A mod that allows you to actually stay clinging to a wall without sliding down. Giving you a whole new take on sniping positions.  (Friend of mine told me like in a game called "Guns" not sure what she meant by that.)

Mods that that builds "stacks" on enemies for an additional effect.  You could have more than one of these types.  For instance a mod that gets 5 stacks and you impale your enemy for additional damage.  A mod where 3 stacks disarms the enemy.  A mod where 7 stacks gives the enemy additional bleed damage as a DOT.  A mod where 4 stacks gets a knockback?  (All of these would definitely portray you as the space ninja bad@$$ you are while at the same time giving players more options for the base damage attack.)

    Thoughts?

  3. God that looks stupid. I don't mind exploits that took a game in a new dimension. The Tribes Franchise's skiing is a great example of something that turned the game on it's head. But exploits that are "the most efficient" way of doing something? Yeah, screw that.

Kill it. Then implement broken elevator shafts we have to climb by chaining wallruns together that lead to bonus areas that can drop warframe blueprints or something.

Actually some of the new map locations for defense require you to run up from wall to wall to get to a good sniping position.  I had one guy accuse me of exploiting the game map.  Then he saw me slide down a zip line loacted right there and realized the location was intended.  No warframe blueprints in the breakables though. ;)
