I love it when this happens, it actually looks about million times better than the dipped in mercury look it's supposed to have.

 

 

 

I actually wish I'd though to get a clean screenshot of this one, would've made a great wallpaper.

 

 

I love this bug because i can actually see what my Rhino looks like. This is a very stylized game, with colour palates being some of the few things Devs are actually charging for. Anything that covers up a players style choices is a bad idea.

it can be a fresh coat. sometimes it goes away for the weirdest reasons, like you used another skill or shade activated ghost.

No that is a myth. It has nothing to do with that. Sometimes you start out looking like that with a freshly re-applied coat of Iron Skin. It is a bug that causes the molten metal effect to disappear.
