Llyssa Posted September 4, 2013 Share Posted September 4, 2013 One idea that struck me as viable: Each gear piece does, as now, give stat modifiers. However, the difference would be that it would be an equippable feature. Example: If you unlock alternate helmet #1, you get alternate stat boost #1. So long as you own AH#1, you can equip ASB#1 at any point, including when wearing default helmet. If you unlock alternate helmet #2, you can equip alternate stat boost #2 at any point, including when wearing default helmet OR AH#1. That way, there's still aesthetics, if that's all a player wants, and there's still stats, if that's what a player wants, and the ability to use either one at will, and mix and match them, gives more incentive to collect them. So, if you want the stat boost from a skin, but hate the skin, you can still get the stat boost, and if you want the skin, but hate the stat boost, you can have the skin, and if you love both, you can get both! (If you don't like either one, you just have issues--why did you bother getting it??) This keeps the ability to have more nuanced play, while not forcing anything down our collective gullets.
