Nightwave should not have replaced alerts

As Wolf of Saturn Six nears its end, I can't help but feel more people were screwed over by Nightwave totally replacing alerts than not. Let's go over it.

Experienced players with very little time to play: the only winners

New players of all availability: discouraged by strange objectives ("what's a hall of ascension?")

and most importantly: Experienced players with decent time to play, the ones who buy platinum: Screwed. Hope you like sitting on your ass waiting for more things to do and getting maybe 5 potatoes over 8 weeks if you also don't get any Nitain.

Alerts should have stayed. Exclusive rewards like the Umbra Forma would make Nightwave worth doing regardless of whether or not you could just get Nitain the old way.

Yes, I am the last category. But I'm certain I'm not the only one being hurt by the total replacement of alerts.
