Host Migration Failures in PoE

It seems like every time the host leaves the party prematurely in the Plains of Eidolon, I get kicked back to Cetus and lose everything I collected prior. This has happened twice in a row already. I didn't care about the first instance because I didn't lose much, but the next time I lost a lot more (including a few Sentirum, some Nyth, and a Target Acquired mod a Thumper dropped). I'd LIKE my stuff back, but mostly I'm just wonder why I have to go back to Cetus after every migration failure; why can't I just stay on the plains solo? Is that an option?
