Venari Bodyguard Not Working

I've been playing a lot of Khora lately, and I always run Venari Bodyguard for that extra life safeguard. I'm frustrated that approximately 20% of the time while its available, and it hasn't been used before in the mission, I'll just enter bleedout without the mod taking effect. I can't find anyone else talking about this anywhere so I'm starting to wonder if there's something I'm just not understanding..? Hoping to see if everyone else has experienced this or might look into it? I have a feeling it could have something to do with Venari being out of range, or busy with another animation, or simply stuck. She kinda stops all the time in a low, aggressive stance ready to pounce, but them just doesn't. doesnt matter which stance she's in.
