The whole "You're the guy who did the thing and is important for no reason other than you play him" thing.

Well, in Dark Souls, it was that, but you weren't all that special.

Oscar could've filled your shoes, but he was squashed.

Also, in Halo, you were the culmination of lots of money, research, training, and other stuff.

I like the "you're a very important person but you're stripped of power and memory" style.

Eh.

They are closer than you think.

The Chief was just one of many Spartan IIs, any one of his comrades could have done what he did.

The ONLY special thing about the Chief is that he is, in canon, extremely lucky.

I'm unfamiliar with these Lord Revans and KoToRs.

Revan was an immensely powerful Sith lord who was kicked out of the Jedi order for fighting in the Mandalorian Wars, which was strictly prohibited by the Jedi Code.

Eventually, he found the Dark Side and the ancient Star Forge and became nigh unstoppable and would have obliterated the Old Republic if he weren't betrayed by his pupil, Malak.

The Jedi saved his life, stripped him of his memory, and made him go through the Jedi way again so he could defeat Malak's infinite army.

Spoiler, he did.

There are multiple surviving Spartan IIs, so no.

Also, you must take into account the fact that Spartan IIIs and IVs also exist, and are far more plentiful than the older II models.

So, yeah, he just has luck on his side, that is it.

Oh, you mean, like Halo 5.
