Constantly kicked out of shawzin mode

For some reason when I try to use the shawzin switching between earth and water frets has a chance to just completely take you out of shawzin mode. It happens very frequently and seems to be specifically those to frets. It's very annoying and makes many shawzin songs unplayable unless I set it to auto play. I haven't seen anyone else having this problem so maybe there's a setting I can change? It seems to be the most obvious thing so I can't be the only person with this issue.
