Mastery Points, Making Mastery Levels Useful

So the idea for Mastery Ranks is that every time you gain a mastery level you gain a single ‘point of mastery’ which you can invest for a small bonus across all of your frames. A couple of things first off:

 

-Mastery points affect base stats, so a point that increases health by 5 will, for example, increase the base hp of a rank 30 frost from 300 to 305. This can then be multiplied by mods as normal

-Mastery points can be reset, but requires building and using a ‘blue pill’ which must be purchased from the market. Each time you build a new one it costs slightly more in credits and parts (first one you build will cost 1 Oriken cell, second one costs 2, third costs 3, etc). You can only have one blue pill in your inventory at a time, and not using one for a set period (around a month) will drop the cost by one ‘pill.’ So holding off between pilling will reduce the cost. The first blue pill is free, and the cost for new ones will never drop back to that price.

-Conclaves will bring you in with all of your points, but every mastery point will increase the base conclave rating of all your frames by a certain amount. (like 5 or 10)

-Max of 20 points in each path (meaning max mastery rank is 40, have fun :P)

 

There are two ‘paths’ for mastery, referred to as the dualities of mastery. The ‘inner’ path affects your defensive and internal abilities. The ‘outer’ path affects your weapons and what you can do to your enemies and allies.

 

Inner Duality

-Way of the Stone: Tenno gains 5/10/15 base health

-Way of Water: Tenno gains 5/10/15 base energy

-Way of Wind: Tenno gains x/x/x base stamina

-Way of the Tree: Tenno gains 5/10/15 base shields

 

(Second tier, requires 6 points in the Inner Duality or 12 in the Outer Duality)

-Spirit of the Hills: Tenno gains 3/6/9 base armor

-Spirit of the Ocean: Tenno gains 2/4/6%power efficiency

-Spirit of the Zypher: Tenno gain .05/.1/.15 base sprint speed

-Spirit of the Forest: Tenno gains 5/10/15 base shield regen

-Inner Adept: 2% of XP is converted into mastery XP, but Outer Duality can’t have more than half the master point of the Inner Duality.

 

(Third tier, requires 12 points in the Inner Duality)

-Sage of Mountains: Tenno gains .1/.2/.3 health regen

-Sage of Waves: Tenno gains .1/.2/.3 energy regen

-Sage of Storms: Tenno uses 5/10/15% less stamina on everything

-Sage of Life: Tenno regenerates 1/2/3 shield HP per second at all times

-Inner Sage: 4% of affinity is converted into mastery XP, requires Inner Adept

 

(Forth Tier, requires 18 points in the Inner Duality)

-Master of Earth: Tenno reduces all damage taken by 2/4%

-Master of Flow: Tenno takes 5/10% less damage from Frost, Fire and Toxic sources

-Master of Air: Tenno gains 5/10% of stamina regeneration while sprinting/wallrunning/etc

-Master of Self: Tenno regenerates 25/50% of used energy if power is interrupted

-Inner Master: Tenno converts 6% of affinity into mastery XP, and increases affinity gain of all team mates by 10%. Requires Inner Sage.

 

Outer Duality

-Way of Warmth: powers deal 2/4/6% more damage

-Way of Anger: melee weapons attack and charge 2/4/6% faster

-Way of Light: ranged weapons gain .5/1/1.5 critical chance

-Way of Power: Flying kicks do 30/60/90% of your melee weapon’s base damage to knocked down targets

(Second Tier, require 6 points in the outer Duality or 12 points in the Inner Duality)

 

-Spirit of coals: elemental damage ignores 2/4/6% of target’s elemental resists

-Spirit of Wrath: Melee weapons deal 5/10/15% more damage with every subsequent, non-charged, attack against the same target

-Spirit of the Marker: Ranged weapons deal 5/10/15% more headshot damage

-Spirit of Lightning: Killing an enemy instantly regenerates 15/30/45% of the Tenno’s stamina

-Outer Adept: Converts 2% of affinity into mastery XP, but the Inner Duality cannot have more than half the number of points as are in the Outer Duality.

 

(Third Tier, requires 12 points in the Outer Duality)

-Fire Sage: Powers & elemental effect gain 5/10/15% duration

-Oni Sage: Tenno gain HP equal to 5/10/15% of damage done by melee weapons

-Sun Sage: Ranged weapons strip 1/2/3% of the target’s armor on critical hits

-Energy Sage: Powers regenerate 10/20/30% of their energy cost if they affect a target other than the casting Tenno (enemies for offencive powers, other Tenno for buff powers), this only happens once per power cast

-Outer Sage: Converts 4% of affinity gained into mastery XP, requires Outer Adept

 

(Fourth Tier, requires 18 points in the Outer Duality)

-Master of Flames: Elemental damage reduces target’s resistance to that element by 5/10%

-Master of Hate: Melee attacks consume 40/80% less stamina

-Master of Sight: Ranged weapons ricochet off the main target to a secondary target 10/20% of the time

-Master of the Ether: Tenno deal 20/40% more damage to knocked down enemies

-Outer Master: Converts 6% of affinity gained into mastery XP, Tenno also gains 5% of the affinity gained by other Tenno (does not stack with itself if there are multiple Outer Master Tenno), requires Outer Sage

I don't have a problem with expanding the scope of Mastery Level....provided the means of acquiring the points is similarly expanded.  Right now it's essentially a self-sustaining system that forces you to buy/build/grind out crap weapons so you can buy/build/grind out better weapons.

The MR not only shows how much of the game you've "completed" but your knowledge base of the game. 

 

How much you enjoy the game

How much time you put into the game

How much you actually value the game.

 

Like your base idea, we would have to wait and see what the DE_ next expansion upon the MR 

 

In order to start coming up with more ideas. 

 

If it stays like this a little after PS4 Release of Warframe. 

 

Then yes we would need a major update upon the MR.

 

I wanted to type more but I have 12 mins to get Into Neso (Neptune) Nano Spores man gotta have em/.
