Repair the heart, the repair gadget vanishes, switches to regular weapons.

The setup:

First time running the "Return to the vault" mission, successfully reached the heart and destroyed the hives. Then I received the repair gadget and used it to repair one damaged area.

The big problem:

While trying to jump around, I must have pressed some kind of button combo that my weapon switched from the repair gadget to the regular weapons. I couldn't switch back through any known button combos. This left me stuck in the mission as I couldn't repair anything. My controls are the defaults, I never change them for any games.

Second problem:

I aborted the mission, then entered the rift again. I spawned inside the mech, however, it took a very long time until the conversations started between Mother and Father, and the waypoints didn't update. I walked back to the vault partially by memory alone.

The rest of the mission completed uneventfully.
