Moving out or range, which is almost mandatory for locating Avichaea, cancels the locate and Tranc UI and removes the lure site.

For multiple runs I assumed that this also ds pawned the bird; I've now realised that this is not the case, but it is still very unhelpful for players.

The birds spawn so far away and so high up that it's almost mandatory to back off, to scan the sky, which cancels the hunt.
