Missing toroids

I collected 13 vega toroids with a friend and we both exited orb vallis via the elevator. The end results screen showed all 13 as expected but they were not available to trade in with Little Duck, nor can I find them in my inventory even after a relog. Friend cannot confirm if they recieved thiers or not as they cannot recall how many they had to start with.
