Assimilate augment breaks some of the secondary continuous beam gimmick

Have been playing a lot of Nyx with Assimilate augment and enjoyed it so far, though after picking out Ocucor and Vermisplicer (Secondary) the gimmick where the tendrils attach to an enemy simply does not work when you activate Absorb skill equipped with Assimilate.
