Makes more sense than to carry around a Shield/Buckler/Bulwark or any of the sort, and we already have a shield anyways... We don't need 2 shields.

While I love the idea of a shield personally, I don't really feel it's fitting. I mean, unless we do a lot of parrying and shield-throwing bullshet, holding a shield and walking around feels really slow. We have heavy weapons and bulky melees, but you can see that we use them with some form of grace and agility. When it comes to shields though, it just doesn't seem the same.

 

Still, a collapsible shield like the Glaive would be nice, extending linked blades that fan out to form a shield when blocking. Or an energy-based shield like the Jackals have from Halo, along with a hole in the side for sidearms to fire through.
