Dps Numbers And Why They Ruin Player Experience

I still feel like the fact that the DPS numbers are the factor that people choose guns for is a rather logical one, no doubt, but I kind of miss the variety of weapons people used to run around with. 

 

I'm not asking people to eradicate DPS from the game, not at all. As pointed out, it is a vital component to testing and balancing. My concern lies with the fact that a massive amount of players seem to try and go for god tier weapons instead of trying out the whole arsenal Warframe has to offer, that's all.

 

It is their choice, but I feel like this trend has become much more obvious ever since a few guns have been made to surpass all others. Power creep might be a major factor in this.

I see people use a fair diversity of weapons. If it rained potatoes, maybe I would see more. That said, there's no logical reasoning behind trying out the entire warframe arsenal. The majority of weapons require a charge before a player can even begin to gauge what it has to offer. There are very few who can afford to invest in weapons that can't take them where they want to go.

 

It would be different if weapons had more utility between them.

This isn't an issue with DPS calculations done by players.

 

It is a problem of game design that uses varied numbers and rpg like stats for everything. It's not a bad design and has worked for many many games, but the problem is that it is hard to perfectly balance a game such that all options are equivalent when dealing with straight mathematical formulas.
