New Mission Type - Operation

Couldn't think of a better name, sorry.

Here is how this works: A group of four Tenno infiltrate a massive ship/outpost/asteroid base. Their objectives are seperate, one could be to carry a datamass to the navigation computer, one could be to destroy a reactor, one could be assigned to capture a target, and the fourth could be to steal an Orokin Artifact. Lets call them Tenno A, B, C, and D. These Tenno would have to either move as a group and do a massive amount of backtracking, or they could split into teams of two, three could stick together while the fourth lone wolfs his, or they could split up and complete it on their own. The massive amount of backtracking would stem from one problem: each obstacle on the path of an objective would have to be removed from another wing.

Tenno A has moved through his sector, and comes across a locked door. He reports the locked door, and the way to open it would be on Tenno C's side. Tenno C would do a hack puzzle, and Tenno A's door would be unlocked.

Tenno C's way is later blocked by immovable debris. Tenno D would then drop a bomb from a walkway high above, clearing the way.

Tenno D is blocked by a broken elevator. Tenno B would repair the elevator from his route, bringing him and Tenno D together.

Tenno C and A meet up at a double panel door, linking them up.

The two groups would then converge on a single location, where an Assassination target waits. They kill the target, then make their way to extraction.

A lone Tenno could do this, but it would take an extreme amount of time checking each wing for the key to progressing another, so all you lone wolves could have your fun solo.

Thoughts? Constructive critisim please, no "Your idea sucks, kthxbye."

The main issue is gonna be loot, since one person could gain a great deal of mods and the other three get crap

Then there is the issue of what happens when you have three of the four get taken out.

My suggestion is make the mode something for more the 4 people...

since some players desire a big instance where you have more then 4.

A Full scale operation would be 12-16 players working as a group to take down something

-A Grineer Command Carrier, an Infested Hive or a Corpus reserach station.-

Make the loot table cumilative.

one thing about this is the psycology of the gameplay. If 4 players decide to all go seperate ways (north, east, south and west) they won't feel very connected to each other. And if they can't even see another player it's even more likely it will just feel like single player with possible irritation. Pacing will be difficult if seperated as some players will go about this very quickly and end up at the "choke points" where "teamplay" is needed. Another thing to considder is, what happens if a player is downed? or worse, dies? The entire team now has to go back in order to make some progress.

The sollution might be to keep these sections short bur frequently reoccurring. Also if visual contact can be established between the players a sense of teamplay will be enhanced. Maybe you are walking on a catwalk while 2 other Tenno slowly make their way down the main road dashing between "cover". A 4:th player is crawling through airvents, only able to fire his/her secondary, but in great possition to take out cameras and hacking tower-shield generators and barricades.

You can help from your high ground, but you are very open for incomming fire. Also if you draw to much attention snipers may come after you, or heavy infantry will blow up sections of the catwalk (you can fall down). Sometimes you can jump the distance, and sometimes you will have to climb down or "over head ladder"-walk accross the gap.

Just an idea that had popped into my head. I could see how 12-16 would be good, but lag would be a big issue. Another option I thought of, would be chain missions. All 4 would work together, but rather than the obstacles, the group would have to capture a target, steal an artifact, deposit a datamass in the navigation computer, rescue a hostage, destroy the reactor, and finally exterminate everything.

actually, a big operation would be great in my opinion, but 12-16 people is a bit... extreme... I would not push it for anythng than 10 people... however, it does sounds facinating to have a mission where 1 team's side does depend on the other squad... Specially with the revive system... not to mention what you have stated is just an example, so if we tweak it a bit.. you can even make multiple Boss battles, or mission changes while on the operation...

So far the missions have been made to take 20min TOPSSS.... but with this new format you may just have created a perfect ending to the war, xDD

wavemissions without a cryopot. just to survive would be great :D

but for more than 4 players they must reduce the element damage effects.

its so hard to figure out whats happening when all 3 kinds of damages are killing a mob. burning, electric iceparts everywhere...and ninjas...and blood..and explosions..and the loot is droping to. its crazy.

against infestet in a "spacemushroom?"field with green poison clouds its ten times harder.

with bloomeffect you see NOTHING! XD
