I do that because I so much fell in this game that I bought plats near right after the "tutorial" and I grab the Walkyr pack so I basically started with the Tigris as main weapon (It's not a rewarding weapon at all but it one shot everything unmodded on Mercury tough...). for my "test" I took the Loki, and damn that's hard, the MK1 braton is the most S#&$ty gun ever released for a starting weapon in any game I have played (I'm over reacting a bit... but damn'!), I've just found pointless mods, invisibility is a rare and it don't go up. the rank 1 mastery ? yeah, corpus ? really ? You have absolutely to get all your MK1 shot in the head or you can't even go to the 3rd rounds, and I admit that after the 4th try, it'was like a cold shower... After have done a lot of Larés and not found any serration or other usefull mods (exception : streamline), I have given up cause I know that it'll take a lot of time to get out of mercury and find the starting crafting components to get rid of this horrible MK1 braton... So....? Not very good (I wish I had the Dex Fury at least, but the MK1 need an improvement if DE want to have a better player retention...)
