Then they should at least match playstyle to theme so people will know what will please them. 

That's where personal perceptions and expectations come into play.

 

From what DE said on Devstreams before her release and then what I saw in her video....

I got a pretty clear sense of what they were after and was able to decide if I thought I'd like it or not pretty well.

I'm not sure they could have been any more clear than that.

 

Of course I'm pretty used to DE merging themes and taking somewhat original spins on old favorites by now.

So I tend to come at this stuff with the mind set of "What's DE's somewhat unique take going to be"...

as opposed to expecting them to make what I have seen in other games.

Sometimes I like their version better, sometimes I don't. 

 

At any rate I'm sorry she doesn't float your boat or fit what you'd like her to be. I'd never say you're wrong in that regard.
