VERGAMA

"In my book," said the cowled figure, "the characters of all things are written and preserved. All visible forms, in the beginning, were but symbols written by me; and at the last they shall exist only as the writing of my book. For a season they issue forth, taking to themselves that which is known as substance... It was I, O Nushain, who set in the heavens the stars that foretold your journey; I, who sent the three guides. And these things, having served their purpose, are now but infoliate ciphers, as before."

–The Last Hieroglyph, Clark Ashton Smith

Clark Ashton Smith (CAS) was an Author, poet, and artist. He was a personal friend, via long written correspondence, with H.P. Lovecraft (HPL). I for one feel that CAS is an over looked gem, and the Lovecraftian influence on Warframe are subtle, but regular.

Vergama, was a cosmic Deity in Smith's Zothique cycle, a series of stories set in the dying Earth genre. A master of destiny, the God was seen as the ultimate patron of wizards. http://eldritchdark.com/writings/short-stories/111/the-last-hieroglyph (Note: The story was written in 1935, can trip people PC button, but it is still a good story, and worth a read.)

Visual Design

Unlike CAS's Vergama, this incarnation will use an amalgamation of several other cultural influences to create the awesome master of destiny. This interpretation involves six-armed female of Buddhist, and Hindu traditions, a pastiche to Visvarupa, Kali, and others. If you are wondering what that is, Visvarupa is Krishna's universal form, a manifestation of manifold being, that inspired J. Robert Oppenheimer's quote, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."  Using influences from Ganesh[a] an elephant head is the reference for the helmet, heavily tenno-fied. The skull could be crystal, similar to Mag's, with a cosmic field visible within. Imagine, a very H.R. Giger, Space Jockey vibe. Primary color, Vermillion.

Old Reference Design:

Vergama's reference design would likely come in the form of a classic wizard or wise old man. Cloaked in an aging vermillion fabric of extra-dimensional properties. A large flowing beard half hides a near corpse-like-gaunt face. Note: this is only the reference concept.

In game appearance takes advantage of fabric effects, and may phase slightly in and out of reality, or co-existing in an astral/etheral sense. Changing the models opacity and mixing a cosmic or void space, as if Vergama is between spaces. Said effects are further altered by energy color. The closest frame to wearing a cloak, that I can think of, is Frost, so I imagine similar design cues is adapting at the Wizard cloak motif. The beard influence might take it cue from Hydroid alt helmet. The gaunt face would likely appear sunken in and hallow.

Alternatively, the face could be a roughly human-skull shaped crystal ball. Inside is a cosmic visage.

Powers

(1) The Last Hieroglyph [20]

Once cast, all players can use codex scanner to scan enemies and grant x1.25/x2.5/x5 damage bonus for 10/15/25 seconds. Enemies scanned while under the influence of the this power will be highlighted, viewable behind objects and walls until duration expires. All scans count double for codex when The Last Hieroglyph is active. Effected by power Strength and Durations Mods.

Augment: Broken Glyph

Targets marked by The Last Hieroglyph will explode when killed for 150/250/500 blast damage 1/2/3 meter radius.

(2) Dark Eidolon [50]

A spectral transformation creates mercury tinted spectral trail, providing near levitation. Visually similar to movement caught by a high speed camera. Feet remain 1 meter off the ground for the duration of the power. Vergama, becomes even more floaty and gravity resistant, increasing by 10% / 15% / 25% / 50% melee attack speed and movement speed. The effects last for 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 seconds. Damage to Vergama is reduced by 10% / 20% / 30% / 40%, and stacks with the Aviator mod.

While in this state any enemy that touches the the spectral form, or the trail will be cursed with the Weakness Status effect, reducing there damage by 30%.

The initial place the power is cast leaves a slowly fading spectral shadow of Vergama that attracts Aggro of enemies within 3 meters.

Does not affect casting speed, knockdown recovery speed, reload speed, or holster speed.

Power is effected by Range mods.

Augment: Eidolon's Embrace

The benefits of this power are extended to allies that Vergama comes in contact with or that pass through the mercury trail.

(3) Wrath of Thamagorgos [50]

Vergama bolsters attacks by adding spectral strikes to melee attacks that follow a fraction of a second behind. Animation shows melee strikes spectrally mirror attacks fractionally behind. Adds Multi-Shot to melee attacks, 50% / 100% / 150% / 200%. Power last 10/13/17/20 seconds. Multi-Shot is affected by power Strength mods.

(4) Manifold Destiny [25]

A powerful transformation surges though Vergama, becoming rooted in place and the foci of spectral attackers that duplicates the Warframe into multiple warriors who melee attack nearby enemies. Animation uses the similar effect as Dark Eidolon to create multiple spectral Doppelgängers. These clones launch themselves from the locked stationary of Vergama, to the nearest enemies, floating and levitating, leaving mercury trails of Dark Eidolon, that proc's the same effects. These clones, once closed into melee range, attack with spectral Dakra's and the Crimson Dervish stance.

-2/3/5 clones are created.

-Base damage is 30 slash/puncture/impact.

-Dark Eidolon stacks with Manifold Destiny, damage on Vergama, or his clones, is absorbed at the same percentage as Dark Eidolon. 10% / 15% / 25% of damage absorbed is added to the base damage of melee attacks. Plus attack speed bonus. Can be recast, while rooted in Manifest Destiny.

-Wrath of Thamagorgos stacks with Manifold Destiny adding Multi-Shot to each clones melee attack. Can be recast.

-Last Hieroglyph can be cast while using Manifold Destiny for additional damage bonus.

-Melee combos apply while the power is active.

-Combos contribute to the Melee Combo Counter, and the damage is increased by the Combo Counter Multiplier.

-The first three attacks deal 200% damage bonus, as per Crimson Dervish stance.

-Melee Channeling Adds 50% damage, increases energy drain 50%. Is effected by Channeling mods.

-Base Range is 30 meters. Is not effected by power Range mods.

-Lifesteal does not effect this power.

-Drains 15 energy per second and will remain active so long as Vergama has energy. Manifold Destiny will end if Vergama runs out of energy or if deactivated by pressing the ability key again (4).
-Activation and energy channelling is effected by Energy Efficiency, and channeling efficiency mods..
-Energy Siphon is deactivated while Manifold Destiny is active.
-Vergama is invulnerable to status effects while in Manifold Destiny, including Eximus energy drains or the small energy drains from Ancient Disrupter attacks, and Nauseous Crawler disables while power is active.
-Attack damage from Manifold Destiny in a specific set of stats from the equipped melee weapon. Normal attacks, slide attacks, wall attacks, ground finishers, and prompted finishers deal 150 base damage + 10% [per power rank] of the equipped melee weapon's base damage.
-Ground finishers work just like Valkyr's with impact receiving a +25%.
-Mods that affect base damage (i.e., Pressure Point, Spoiled Strike, and Steel Charge) are the only melee mods that can increase the weapon damage from the formula.
-Manifold Destiny's attacks have an innate critical chance of 15%, and  critical damage multiplier of 100%. The critical damage and critical chance of the equipped melee weapon stack with those of Manifold Destiny additively for critical chance, and multiplicatively for critical damage.
-Critical damage against special body parts abides by Critical Hit mechanics.
-Physical/Elemental Damage mods (e.g., Jagged Edge and Fever Strike), Attack Speed mods (e.g., Fury), Status Chance mods, and Reach have no effect on Manifold Destiny.
-Attack speed is independent of the equipped melee weapon's attack speed. However, speed buffs such as Warcry, Volt's Speed, and Berserker do affect Manifold Destiny's attack speed. Berserker will not proc while Manifold Destiny is active.
-Cannot be recast while active.

Augment: Phantasmagoric
This unlocks Vergama from the rooted position, free to move and attack. Restricted to melee, and power casting only. Clone will remain in a 30 meter range centered around Vergama at all times, while power is active.

Alt Skin
Vergama has cascading Tennobet flowing through portions of the frame palette.
