Machstrum Multi-RPG Anti-Defilade Airburst Weapon System This new weapon is inspired by a variety of real and fictional weaponry. The Machstrum is a pre-corpus precursor to the Angstrum. Likely a Orokin era, or even pre-Orokin era weapon, along the lines of a Braton and Burston. Machstrum fires rocket projectiles, with almost the same mechanics as the Angstrum, but delivers a little more damage (600), and explosive radius (6 meters), do to larger payload. The unique mechanic is, the Machstrum can laze (laser mark) a target and programs the munitions to split into three submunitions that fire toward the ground at an optimal elevation. Essentially, showering targets with explosive force, and shrapnel, wether they are exposed, or behind cover. Each submunition does 1/2 damage and has a blast radius of 3 meters. This mechanic works with the zoom key. Holding the zoom key on a target, enemy or otherwise, triggers an overlay that shows the optimal hight for spreading the explosive projectiles on the ground. For example, if while aiming down sight at a target 25 meters away for 2 seconds, the overlay will appear above the locked target. Aiming at that overlay point and firing will automatically make the projectiles detonate 25 meters away spreading the explosives at maximum spread on target below. Firing below the marked elevation will still work but reduces the maximum radius, while increasing explosive saturation. Firing level, for example, would essentially be the same as not using the secondary fire mechanism. Exiting the zoom mode cancels the laze target, and the Machstrum will go back to firing normally. Reload Animation Machstrum reload animation involves the top of the weapon popping up between the main platform and the scope. A expended tube magazine is pulled out and a fresh one is inserted. Each tube magazine contains the caseless 20mm rpg's. Strafe Fire Like the Angtrum, the Machstrum can fire up to three rockets in quick succession. It is possible to partially strafe the rockets if timed well. The Angstrum, the CDTE (counter defilade Target Engagement), and the H&K G11. With a touch of Metal Storms, caseless firing technology. The concept is called air burst. Part of what makes this effect so devastating is called the Mach stem. Hence the name Machstrum. (Is your mind blowing right now? Mine did.) This image shows both how airburst and point detonation work, and hopefully clears up any confusion some may be having. This would also suggest that they failed to fully copy the Machstrum.
