What Would People Like To See As The Next Primary?

Single-shot railgun.

Maybe I'm thinking too much into this idea but the concept of a rail gun being used in a space type environment just seems like a bad idea. I mean realistically speaking that is a guaranteed hull breach of a ship. I know it's just a game and far from reality in general but I still like logic applied to scenarios to make them futuristic, yet still believable in the end. I.E. the thought that something like this could realistically be a possibility in the future. 

 

Shotguns would be great with a "slug" mod. Still not accurate at distance but its only one projectile that does major damage vs pellets that scatter at a fast rate

did i mention that the shots would ricochet  to other enemies?
