It doesn't matter if you're biking down the road, across town, or on a mountain, because at the end of the day, if you never wear a helmet, you will only need it once, whereas if you always wear one, you will have the privilege of needing one more than once. This is the helmet that I was wearing when I crashed: All that scraping would have been on my face and my scull probably would have been split open. Seriously it isn't worth the risk of not wearing a helmet. Just wear one. Yes I know this is preachy but frankly its something that needs to be said.
