Using caps-lock is to make your message seem much bigger and more important than the average user messages. This will then turn into other people's messages trying to compete with the in capitalized words, which as you stated is effective at gaining people's attention as it is a great marketing strategy. With users competing to get their message across, the trade chat could easily devolve into a mess for people just wanting to sell/ buy things. It might end up like this: wts whatever WTS WHATEVER WTS WHATEVER >>>WTS WHATEVER<<<< +-!!!@#$$$WTS BIG STUFF COME NOW OR ELSE IT ALL GONE <<<<<@$%#$ While this may seem like a slippery slope type of fallacy, a great example of this sort of advertisement happening is American advertisement. In the past, American advertisement was just a guy sitting in front of a screen trying to sell a product by simple description. Nowadays, advertisement is all about big noise and loud messages to get their points across to the costumer. DE could be trying to avoid such a situation like this by banning those caps-lock messages. You can try to defend yourself all you want, but it is in the rulebook that caps-lock is a bannable offense in the trade chat or whatever chat you are in. If you really want this not to be a ban and can come up with a great reason other than "oh other advertisements do it, so why can't I?" then send a support ticket to DE and tell them your reason.
