Gamepad & Ability Selection

I use a wireless Xbox360 controller to play Warframe (As I am sure a lot of people do).  For the most part the gamepad functionality in WF is great, except for 1 minor issue... ability selection.  As it stands now the player is not able to cycle through abilities while stunned or while another ability is in use.  While this is really just a minor issue, it can lead to problems during gameplay.

 

example: If I am playing Trinity, and I get knocked down and beaten while the ability highlighted is currently Energy Vamp, I would love to be able to cycle over to Blessing so that I can use it immediately once I get back up.  Right now the 1~ second could mean the difference between dying or pulling off Blessing to save the day.

 

As abilities can be assigned to certain kb keys, I don't think it would be a balance issue to allow gamepad (since buttons are a limited controller resource) players the ability to cycle through regardless of current status (knockdown, stun etc.)

 

Just throwing this idea out there.

I use the 4 direction sof the DPad and checked the "use abilities on selection" in the options. Then you can cast skills when you need them.

I think it depends on the gamepad. many of them are fully programmable, and others can have keyboard keys assigned to certain buttons. I've never personally used an xbox controller for pc to game, but i'd imagine as it is an X-input style gamepad, that there is software that can do it.

 

Check into XPadder, its what i use on my F710. may be helpful for other games as well.

This problem actually applies to the keyboard as well.  If you don't have "Use powers on selection" set, trying to change powers with the number keys while stunned does nothing.
