Archwing Map Suggestion

Imagine fighting in a map where you're close enough to the planet to get pulled in affected by gravity.

You have to constantly keep that in mind and remember to move away.

You also get a nice view of the Earth/planet.

(probably gonna be risky to revive someone though...)

Doesn't QUITE work like that.

See, when you're in orbit, you're actually constantly falling around the planet, with gravity pulling you along to constantly "fall over" the horizon. When you move in any kind of circular motion, you're actually always accelerating towards the circle's centre, with momentum carrying you through the arc (note the important difference between acceleration and velocity). If your orbit is stable then your momentum relative to the body's gravity balances out, and you can consistently "fall" for as long as you need to, potentially forever.

Only when your orbit is disturbed does the threat of falling occur, and this can be mitigated or nullified by a system called an inertial dampener, which can be anything from retro/gyro jets pointing in a direction counter to your momentum (or perhaps rather the momentum that you don't want relative to your point of reference), to straight up gravity manipulation (though that one can get REALLY complicated when so close to a heavy celestial body, like a planet).

Since we already display an ability to inertial dampen with Archwing, (you do eventually bleed your speed in Archwing, which needs an inertial dampener in space) the threat of falling, or even the experience of being pulled toward the planet, would be nullified by our Archwings, since the dampener would always maintain your orbit relative to the object that sets the arena.

And besides, if you fell towards the planet, Ordis would just catch you with the landing craft.

So yeah.

Cool idea though.

How much closer would you need to be to get pulled in? Well I guess it doesn't have to be pulled in, as long as there's some effect to the archwing's flight to make it more interesting.

What I had in mind wasn't just the effects on flight. It would also change combat where you can melee/smack enemies (or get smacked by enemies) towards the planet or something. Explosions work too. Even a simple bodyslam/kamikaze.
