How To Get Rank Up From 0 To 1, When/how Do I Get A Test?

I am rank 0. (next rank (initiate) in 0).   Mastery 10,391. 
Do I need to join a clan or do this is the dojo? 
Or is the link just going to appear under show profile at some point.

Thanks. I got it... I needed to go click: profile menu item > rank up > OK
I was confuzed before when I wached video and saw rank up button in different location.

Esc. Hover over your name. Click Rank Up.

When you have enough mastery, your status summary at the top of the screen in the pause menu will have a flashing blue line.

There will be an extra button that says "Rank Up" at that time.

 

Be aware that, pass or fail, you can only attempt a test once a day. If you want to practice, you can go to the Sanctuary on the second floor of Larunda Relay, turning right as you enter. The tests are in order along the staircase.
